I remember when everyone said that Apple will be able to price cut Macbooks when converting to ARM processor and well... 🤡
Wouldn't be surprised if they make $899 M1 Macbook 12, $1299 M2 Air and then $1999 M1X 14 Pro
If they're sending surveys regarding Macbook 12 then they're clearly thinking of releasing one.

I like how the leaker is being very bold with his statement.

This is obvious! Of course we are going to see prices to hike. I can’t believe we have to wait till November to get our hands on 14” / 16” when the expected release date was over the summer.
It shouldn’t really be obvious given the performance you get from a 899$ m1 air. I think competition between that model a d the pro’s should offer a lot more of something. I would of guessed price would of been the same and less for the 16” givin the performance you get the m1 at such a low price for the air.

Hmm it got me thinking if they are sharing the same chip does that mean the RAM will be maxed to say 32GB for both laptops? and there won't be a 64GB :(

I’ll be honest, there’s something about this leak that reeks of Apple trying to expose a leaker. It just seems so specific but general at the same time, like it reveals nothing we didn't already know but the information has been presented in such a specific way. I can’t put my finger on what makes me think this but it just gives me this vibe.

Honestly it just seems like logical deduction to me.

The main difference between the Intel 16" and the "M1X" 16" will be the MiniLED display. That will be more expensive, but Apple will be saving money on not paying Intel and AMD and they will be dropping the TouchBar so charging the same $2399 price sounds plausible.

On the 14", Apple will not have to pay Intel and will be dropping the TouchBar, but they will be offering a larger screen and adding MiniLED. Apple could probably hold the line on the $1799 price and may yet do so, but the 14" will offer significantly better CPU and exponentially better GPU performance than the 13.3" model so they could also see charging $100-200 more for that performance as being justified.

I expect both will stay the same as their Intel configurations, so:

14" - $1799 to $1999
16" - $2399

Both with 16GB RAM and 512GB of SSD with a 10C/16G "M1X".
Yup, I expect $1999 and $2499. Small price hike to pay for the redesign and new non-chip tech.

The MBA didn't get a price hike despite a much more powerful chip.

There have been more recent rumors noting that 32GB might be the limit - depends on how they stack the RAM. And more and more real-world tests are showing that Apple Silicon uses RAM so much more effectively that higher RAM counts offer little to no benefit on many cases where it does on Intel.

The M1X should be able to handle 64 GB and more displays than the M1

Wth Apple?? I’m done with this rip off company.. price hike for what? Using their own chips and removing the Touch Bar and still jacking up the price😡😡
Their chips are 3-4x better performance than Intel, 3-4x the battery life, AND the new laptop is 14" with a mini-LED display. Not to mention Apple doesn't regularly increases prices in accordance with inflation; considering it's been a long time since the Pro got a price hike it would actually make sense to do so!

Not to mention the fact that you're getting this pissed about a random leaker with very little credibility claiming the price hike - when in reality they might've meant it'll cost more than the 13" base pro with M1 which we were expecting anyway!

And I'd bet anything that you're not "done with this rip off company"😂🤡

No surprise, they'll screw us out of every $ for this. Amusing that several tech commentators had suggested that prices might even fall given they're not paying hundreds of dollars to Intel for their chip.

On the flip side of that Apple probably feel prices starting at 2K and above are quite appropriate given the sheer number of Dell's, Razer's and Lenovo's at that price point.

Blah Blah Blah. But does this clown actually know when they will be released? That’s what I want to know!

My MacBook Air M1 is so fast already that I’m really happy with the speed. If the increase is significant I might go for a 14 to get more ports. Otherwise I’ll skip a year. I don’t mind a price increase for the fastest chips on the market.

Same port number on 14" and 16" ??

do they ditch any like HDMI or SD Card?

thoughts?

This is gonna hurt in Europe, might keep my Air and just get the Air redesign then.

I do want the new 14” due to being able to use a 2nd display.. but I don’t know we’ll see how it goes.

I wonder if they’ll keep the current 13” Pro and Air then…

If I can get a 14 inch with 2 TB of storage and 32 gigs of ram for under $2500 I'll be very happy. Who am I kidding, it's going to be closer to $3K isn't it? Either way, very happy to finally have 14 inches coming out

Thinking the same I did buy the mbp 13” 16gb ram and 256GB ssd as I was thinking that I’ll update within a year anyway so I was thinking of buying 32gb ram and 1tb ssd of the next mbp 13/14”.

but now I’ll just upgrade my accessory I think. I have already started ;)
AirPods Max
32” LG 4K ultra fine
Webcame
Magic Mouse etc.

I am so annoyed with Tim Cook always keeping „last years model“ to justify price increases on updated versions. Steve Jobs didn’t do it. He wanted his users to actually experience to best they can offer and didn’t settle with „last years models“. However, from a business perspective it’s smart of course but jeeze, I don’t even want to think of the Euro prices.
Or when he's on stage saying we "Think you'll like it"

are any of you guys actually surprised by the rise in prices? this is apple after all. they also probably fake the cost of creating these m1x chips so that they get taxed less.
