The leather cases didn’t get released until Nov 6th, so I can’t think 2 weeks of use is gonna patina much. I’ve had a leather case for my X and it did take time.
Here’s two weeks worth of patina on my Nomad. The one on the right is brand new, still in the box.

That’s great! My comment was simply stating that it might take some time depending on the type of leather and amount of handling/use, etc. I’m sure a jogger will show more signs of use on his sneakers than someone who occasionally walks in them. It’s all relative.

Definitely. Since this rendering of the Nomad case is their natural Horween leather line it’s going to patina quicker. I’m sure there are a few people on here they are rubbing their hands over the new saddle brown constantly... lol! Hopefully the new saddle brown cases start to patina nicely. My case has a nice mixture of use. I’m not on my phone that much during the day, but I think the “natural” state of the leather is why it’s taking on so much color/dirt and possibly blood.

Any more Bullstrap photos and reviews/comparisons with Apple? Something with patina, especially the blue or bourbon?

I got them to email me a few patina photos of the Sienna, and while beautiful, I think I want to start darker and closer to where I want to end up. Surprisingly hard to find patina photos of their cases anywhere.

Attaching the ones they sent.
From experience they look nothing like this

In what way, and do you have examples?
I’ve had 3 bullstrap sienna cases for my iPhone 11. For the first month or so the leather feels great, color never really changes. By month 2 and 3 the leather just starts to darken all over (hardly noticeable), it doesn’t seem to darken on the edges or where you touch it a lot like you think it would, then by that time the leather seems to loose its finish almost, it’s starts to feel rough almost like suede and I’ve tried everything and there’s no way to fix that. On all 3 cases I used coconut oil (that’s what bullstrap them selves recommend to me) to add grip and possibly speed up patina and they just feel nasty after.

My previous leather cases, like four of them, would start to patina within a few days.

It’s obviously early days but a couple of times I’ve cleaned my Baltic Blue leather case with a damp cloth. For previous Apple leather cases some of the dye would come off onto the cloth when I did this. But not with this case. Mind, this is the first time I’ve had a blue leather case.

However, I’m sure that it will develop patina at some point. We shall wait and see.

Do you like the buttons on the nomad case? Are they tactile and easy to press?
No, I honestly do not like the buttons on the Nomad. They’re just molded raised bumps on the sides of the case and don’t have any real separation to where you will get or feel a “click” when they’re pressed. They’re some how a little better this year over last years buttons, but don’t expect apple quality buttons here. This case is rugged and does one thing well, protects the phone from drops while adding a bit of flair with the leather backing. It’s a nice case, don’t get me wrong, but to me it’s individual specific. If you like elegant cases with nice buttons, this cause isn’t it. It’s tough looking and I absolutely like it. Fits my lifestyle perfectly and protects my phone.

I also enjoy Nomad’s mission statement on their website. They have numerous donations and give aways to first responders as well as trying to reduce their carbon footprint by donating and planting trees. They’ve also partnered with other manufacturers to try and be more “green”. Their customer service is also top notch.

This combined with their 30% off offer. Dang you! :) I got one coming in the mail. I have their case for my 2018 iPad and it has been amazing. Not terribly fond of the buttons but love the company and the case.

If they are that bad. Why buy 3 seems like a waste if you aren’t going to enjoy.

Does anyone have a Meyer lemon leather case released last year and used it a fair bit? That should give a good indication of the patina and colour of the California poppy after some use.
Here's mine since October 2019, it looks like quite dirty. I'm considering the California Poppy for the 12 but i'm not entirely sure...

They were warrantied

I tried getting one replaced that I bought in July and they won’t. Same issue. Leather feels like suede and not premium at all. I found using alcohol wipes on the bullstrap really takes the shininess and texture out of it. Sort of ruins it, it seems. I realize it will dry the leather out but seems it takes more effect on the bullstrap leather than others.

You can try using a leather balm on dried out leather that may restore its natural feel. I like to use Smith’s organic leather balm on my leather goods including some leather cases I’ve used in the past.
