It's a little thick on the sides - but the back is flush (no camera sticking out). I like it.

I need to report on this ... Sena Leather Case.

The camera lenses actually stick out a little in the back. This morning I went to go take a photo and noticed the lenses were not clean after setting them down on the table. I noticed the lenses actually stick out past the case a wee bit. Unacceptable imo.

:(

Starting to see why Apple did the camera bumper.

I think, since this Saddle Brown is NOT developing a patina for me, I may just order the Baltic Blue.

are you going to return your saddle brown?

am thinking if i should still order the black for my Graphite or just completely give up the idea of using Apple's leather case, love the case/feel/buttons though and they finally covered up the bottom.

And here I thought last years leather cases were bad lol these are complete junk. To me they feel a bit rubbery I think the patina days are over for apple leather cases

time to find an alternative
Apple used to have reviews on all their accessories back in the day and I remember people would complain a lot about saddle brown on how it would scratch so easily and start to change color

to be honest, the previous cases would scratch easily, you could also easily rub them off for minor ones.

you got the word on point, the new leather case does feel rubbery, is it due to a coating?

if patina days are over, honestly i would rather return the case now and mine has a defect at the camera cutout ring where there's a gap.

Patina takes time. You don't need a special leather for it to develop - it will just age naturally as the leather interacts with the environment you subject it to. Natural oils from your hands, sweat (acid), dirty surfaces etc. all help contribute to the process. What might slow down the process these days is our more frequent hand washing and that we're less active in general these days. UV light also helps accelerate aging, but it's dark very right now.

Give it 6-8 weeks, walk in a store and compare. You'll see how much it has changed. Of course if you're benchmarking against a year old case, you'll feel like you've made no progress.

I've used every leather case for the last four years. I don't need to be told to give it time. This one is different than the previous years. The reason I get the saddle brown is because I don't like the patina of other colors. If this generation is slower to patina, then that's why I would want the Baltic Blue.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard a lot of people say that Apple's leather cases are overly waxy over the last 5 years. I wonder if that doesn't help hinder that process?

I used an Apple Leather case on my 6+ and ... after a slight drop, ripped the leather really bad on the corner so -- I don't really have any experience with Apple Leather Cases. Just an observation about the waxy comments.

I'm super OCD, very careful with my phones and my Apple black leather already has a little dent and a scuff on the back :( Apple leather cases are not very durable at all.

Guess I got this damage from placing the phone in and out of my car mount a couple of times.

That may be the case (no pun intended) for sure. Something just seems off about this generation for me. Usually within 3-4 days the edges would start to darken and get grippier, then by the end of the first week parts of the back would start to darken, then from there it would just get a nice patina all over. Usually within two weeks it was where I started to really like it. Every year. With this one, it's not showing a single sign of patina anywhere after a week and a half. It's confusing me, and I'm extremely impatient!

Yeah I’ve been constantly rubbing the case and after two weeks no signs of wear or patina. Kinda sucks, but am probably gonna get a Bullstrap case when they release.

Any patina yet?

same here, absolutely no Patina but yet the box indicates this is Natural leather etc, if the Saddle brown do not age like previous cases, no point in sticking to this colour

previous cases would show up in a matter of 2-3 days.

not sure if anyone wrote to Apple on this
No no Patina yet, just the feel is different from the first few days.

I’ve had my SB close to 2 weeks now. I’m starting to see the faintest bit of patina starting on the edges on the corners.

Photos of my Forest Green and Saddle Brown 11 Max cases, and one week old Baltic Blue 12 Max case. Green and brown were alternated for one year’s use on the 11 Max (iPhone yearly upgrade program).

I ordered a second SB apple case to test the corners and i do notice that the original case (2 weeks use) is slightly darker and definitely more grippy than the new one.
It’s just gonna take some time but others may not be willing to wait, which is fine also.

Got my Nomad Rugged - went with Black for the first time in 5 years.

I really like that the bottom is rounded out so resting it on my pinky actually feels good. Case feels solid and while some may not like the rubber sides, I've grown to like this about Nomad cases. The bottom is a little different too but offers a lot of protection. And unlike the Sena leather case, the camera lenses are protected.

I have decided against Apple leather cases because one light drop usually results in badly torn leather on an edge. (I usually only drop my cases on cement/gravel) - one reason why I like the rubber sides on this case.

Thanks to all those who upload pics - really enjoying this thread over the years. :)

I really like that the bottom is rounded out so resting it on my pinky actually feels good - doesn't cut into it like the Apple Silicon did. Why can't Nomad make the cutouts on the bottom correct?
