You can try using a leather balm on dried out leather that may restore its natural feel. I like to use Smith’s organic leather balm on my leather goods including some leather cases I’ve used in the past.

Thanks and I may try another kind. I have some cleaner/conditioner called Tanners Blend from Ashland leather that’s specifically for horween leather and it doesn’t seem to help

This combined with their 30% off offer. Dang you! :) I got one coming in the mail. I have their case for my 2018 iPad and it has been amazing. Not terribly fond of the buttons but love the company and the case.
30% off 👀 I only found a 20% off. Could have saved an extra $5.

I have the exact condition and it doesn’t work. I’ve used a bunch of other conditioners and polish and NOTHING works. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed this
I’m not sure what causes this but it’s very frustrating, the actual quality of the leather is bad. Imo the best quality leather bar none is nomad

Must be a USA only thing? <shrug> :( Oh well. They make really solid cases. I'm looking forward to mine :).

Does anyone have photos of the BullStrap leather in any color, but preferably sienna. I’m wonder if the speaker cut out was left open on the iPhone 12 models

Did Apple do something special to the 12 line of leather cases? Every other saddle brown I’ve had over the years had developed a patina within a few days. This one I’ve had for a week now and it is showing zero signs of patina.

same here, no signs of Patina as of now, it does feel somewhat “synthetic” now that I’ve started to read this thread, always went with Saddle brown cause I loved the way it aged.

also loved Apple leather cases cause of the buttons and entire case made of leather vs Nomad

Just checked their site and was considering ordering another rugged case in brown and they’re all sold out!! I’m glad they’re selling so well. I don’t even think I’m going to use my Mujjo once it comes in. I’ll probably end up gifting it to a co-worker that just got their 12 this past Monday rather than hassling with returning it to the Netherlands.

The bottom is left open like the old apple leather cases, I prefer it almost

Looks like you've really gone to town on that with sandpaper
Well it was honestly my first project to make the leather case look like worn. Didn't like it in the beginning but after the wax and the smoothing down it feels just right.

Agree. Your case will probably stay like this for ages. From the picture it looks like you've gone too far with the sandpaper and you scrubbed not only that "waxy coating", but also a leather itself. I'm no judge here, if you enjoy it now better, good for you. I'm still interested in first posts with natural patina. My saddle brown for iPhone 12 mini is still looking like new after couple of days, absolutely no sign of patina.

Nomad is impeccable quality. The Horween leather looks and smells amazing. Much better smell than the Apple case. Can’t speak to the logetivity, but I will provide updates in this thread.

If I had to choose brand new, I’d say the Nomad feels/looks more modern and luxurious.

Two big differences so far. 1) Nomad isn’t leather all the way around, it’s only on the back. This gives a little more grip but doesn’t give you that all leather feel. 2) The buttons aren’t metal, they are integrated into the same material as the edges. This means they’re not quite as distinct or responsive as the Apple buttons are.

All in all, both cases are worthy. I planned to order them both and return the one I didn’t like, but I’m going to keep both.
Is it too bulky as compared to the Apple leather case? Would it be comfortable as a daily carry?

My saddle brown case is starting to feel a bit “sticky” after a week of use. Is this normal?

Any patina yet?

same here, absolutely no Patina but yet the box indicates this is Natural leather etc, if the Saddle brown do not age like previous cases, no point in sticking to this colour

previous cases would show up in a matter of 2-3 days.

not sure if anyone wrote to Apple on this

Apple used to have reviews on all their accessories back in the day and I remember people would complain a lot about saddle brown on how it would scratch so easily and start to change color

And here I thought last years leather cases were bad lol these are complete junk. To me they feel a bit rubbery I think the patina days are over for apple leather cases

time to find an alternative

I think, since this Saddle Brown is NOT developing a patina for me, I may just order the Baltic Blue.
