Mine felt that way after about 10 days. Then I decided to rub the painted coating off with a magic eraser and put a light coat of smiths leather balm on after. It’s been two weeks and the case feels great, smells like leather, and is starting to darken where my hands touch it most. I think in time it’s just going to get better and better.
My thought process is the coating will go away on its own.
It still absorbs water easily so I don’t know what this “coating” is really.

I’ve tried cleaning mine with antibacterial wipes and all sorts and it just feels the same stickiness. I’ve not spilled anything on it or used it with dirty hands etc so really not sure what’s happened.
I’d suggest to let it air dry for 1 day after wiping. Should help a bit.

I think they knew the square corners would get dark fast so they coated it in an attempt to mitigate the aging. I want mine to darken and look used so that coating had to go.

Hi everyone. I was inspired by someone here to modify my month-old saddle brown 12PM case, and I’m glad I did because it looks much better now. I rubbed it down with some shop wipes (Tub O Towels brand), and applied KG Extreme All Purpose Leather Guard. I did this twice. The final time, I let the conditioner absorb for about 8 hours before wiping the residue off with a paper towel. I’ve attached photos of the results. The feel is much more “leathery” than before. Hope this helps, and thanks to the previous commenter for the inspiration.
Has anyone tried this with the baltic blue case?

I’ve been trying to find pictures of how the Baltic blue leather case has been aging for everyone, but since I can’t see anything on that color, I thought I’ll share my experience. I switched to a 12 Pro Max from a 7+. Had the black leather case on my 7+ and I loved it. I got the Baltic blue leather case on December 3rd, have been using it ever since. I realized it felt different as soon as I started using it. Felt smoother, not necessarily better or worse than my 7+. I figured it might be due to changes in manufacturing process/flat sides. I’m not a leather expert or anything, but I’m happy with the way it has turned out so far. I’ve dropped the phone once, and it is a left a little scrape on the top (last picture), other than that, the sides on the case and the front lip have darkened (they look like dark blue rather than black). It’s picked up a few scrapes here and there, adding to the character of the case. I don’t baby the case, but I don’t use it too roughly either. I haven’t used any wipes or anything, I just wipe it off on my jeans or any cloth if it picks up smudges. Sometimes, I might place it on a slightly damp or wet surface while taking a shower or something, but I wipe it off soon after. What do you guys think? First picture is a picture of it from day 1. Please post pictures on how this looks like now. Thanks!

I know a couple of folks here have the Burkley/Blackbrook Conner 12 Pro case. Can you guys pls post pictures and update how it works out? It looks very good, with no metal button attachments and covered bottom. Just that I won't use the card slot. Want to see if the slots add any bulk. Thanks!!

Here is my SB after exactly 2 months of use. It feels less synthetic than when it was new but it still doesn't feel like good quality leather comparing to other Apple leather cases I've used before.

After being somewhat disappointed with apples leather case this year/trying out a bull strap case for the first time and not liking the fit, I discovered this company. Did some research and have seen nothing but good reviews on the brand and the quality of their leather goods. Additionally I appreciate the MagSafe compatibility and closed bottom lip 😉 my only criticism is the random numbers branded on the case, other than that I’m excited for it to arrive. Anyone here have experience trying a grams28 case?View attachment 1724036
Magsafe is weak but the leather seems on par. I’d take my chances elsewhere though.

Why they would offer what looks like it should be a better alternative to the disappointing Apple leather case but fail to offer it in a tan/saddle brown colorway to capture the gigantic patinaproud demand void is beyond me. View attachment 1725788
I’m 90% sure a brown is in the works, on the Grams28 Instagram story they asked what color ideas should they work on next 😬

I’m very intrigued by this. I’ve heard the edges stretch so I reached out to them, thats covered buy the 100 year warranty.

I was as well, but I just have a feeling it’s going to stretch out over time. I’ve seen the reviews on YouTube and most say it stretches out. If you’re looking for the case to patina it will granted it fits the phone long enough to where you don’t need to warranty exchange it.

I’ve returned mine after it became sticky. Feels really horrible after only few days of use.

sticking with Caudabe case for now.

I’m doing the Caudabe as well. I really hope they re-do the Apple Leather case, I just cant do this years but I’ve loved them so much in the past. It’s weird, but I miss it.
