Went from Saddle brown to baltic blue and ended with Black

Apple leather is cheap. Period. They should be ashamed for selling it for the price. I have always stuck with them, but I didn't know what I was missing. Get a Bullstrap. THAT is a real leather case...thick leather, smells like new full grain leather boots, and it ages beautifully. Far superior to any Apple leather case I have ever had.

Personally I don’t like the bullstrap leather. It doesn’t hold up to use very well. I’ve had a few over a year and a Half and the leather never holds up unless I baby it. Which defeats the purpose of a case

The two I have have went down like a deflated balloon around the camera lenses where it used to be raised a bit. They were good at first, but that only lasted a couple months.

I haven't found that. My wife and I both use them, and while I am a naturally careful person with my phone in general, I don't baby it, I just use it. The Bullstrap has been fantastic. My wife, however, is a "baby Godzilla", and after all of her abuse, intended and unintended over a year, her Bullstrap looks fantastic as well and has aged beautifully. It is what encouraged me to get one. Apple doesn't have a real leather feel or look and it scratches and chips easily. YMMV.

I got a Bullstrap for my Mini and ended up preferring the black Apple leather after while. I get why people are trashing Apple's leather cases this year but now having used black on both my Mini and Pro, I think it's all pretty exaggerated because mine feel great. It's also been shown that the leather cases on the 5 series devices aged the same as those for the 12s so there's a lot of alarmist posting along with those that are destroying cases trying to expedite the patina process.

I put a dab of Nomad's leather conditioner on mine and they're incredibly soft and smell just as good as the Bullstrap, albeit not near as strong.

How to properly artificially patina my case ? I have tried using scotch-brite and the results are below. I want tips as this is not what I wanted

You finding the black sticky/clammy? Mine is still after a few weeks. Not sure if because it's hot and humid here.
Mine can be sticky and clammy at times but my BB one was too.

Every couple of weeks I coat it with a leather milk which puts moisture back into it a few hours after applying and it's okay again.

The leather from which the case for the 12 iPhone is made is nothing like previous generations of cases. I am writing based on my experience of use (see photo). It seems to me that the whole thing is in a large layer of soil and paint. At first, my cover also began to rub off and the corners became black. I used alcohol wipes to get rid of the paint completely. As I was pleasantly surprised that the skin without paint is not black but brown. After I wiped off all the paint, I thoroughly washed the cover with a soft brush and soap under warm water several times, then put it on the battery overnight to dry it. Also, after drying, I used fine-grained sandpaper (if I'm not mistaken 2000-3000 series). Be careful, do not rub too much, you can ruin everything and damage the skin. Then he soaked it with beeswax and again on the battery and so on 3 times, after that he removed the excess wax with a rag and let it dry completely from the wax. I am 100% satisfied with the result! The skin is now matte, not sticky and a beautiful dark brown color as I like. Photos do not fully convey the color, in life it looks much better and more accurate.
P.S. Apologies in advance for my english.
