This looks awesome! Argan oil treatments darkened it beautifully it seems.

Loving the Deep Violet, from the pics much more than Baltic Blue I have.

Here are 2 pictures of my saddle brown after a few months of off and on usage, I’ve done nothing to try and speed up the aging process, so this is from just normal usage, the edges are darken up, but you can see that the back of the case is also slightly darkening as well, i really don’t think that it looks that bad…
Very certain this will already have been covered but I'm not inclined to browse a 220+ page thread to find out - anyone else think the iPhone 12/Pro saddle brown leather doesn't patina like the older ones? Mine is just starting to look dull and dirty if anything.
Mine ended up the same way. I usually love the saddle brown case but this iteration is not so good at ageing (at least in my experience)
I have a black leather one now which looks sleek.
The post just above by ArByJR, THAT is the look I would love on the Saddle Brown. 85-90%+ of the posts I see have this patina on the edges, that just look...well..dirty to me, black, while the back looks slightly darker perhaps.
I am giving the Bullstrap Bourbon case a shot - 10% off code on the official site made it cheaper than the Apple SB case, although I'd rather have MagSafe...& yeah, a totally closed off bottom, it's not a major deal breaker. I always loved how that case looks right out of the box.
Since we are allowed to post aftermarket cases, here is my decoded MagSafe that just arrived for those who asked, and a first impression. First the pros: the leather on this case just feels and smells superior than apple’s and grams28 leather cases, has a soft and supple feeling to the touch. I really like the front lip and metal camera bumper as well, gives it a premium look. As for the cons: I feel as the magnet isn’t as strong as both apple and grams28, could possibly be due to the smoother leather resulting in loss of friction between surfaces. And lastly the buttons, they’re not a deal breaker and I’m hoping they’ll break in over time but they’re just not as tactile as apple or grams28 case. Overall I’m loving the case and can’t wait to see how it develops. Here are some shots in different lighting

Those buttons should break in within a day or two. Mine felt pretty weird on day one but were fine a day later.
I like how they punched individual speaker holes. Just a little more attention to detail than the Apple cases
Not sure how I feel about the VB case. It does seem like it's heavy on the old Midnight Blue (which was my second favorite color - #1 was Forrest green leather) with a hint of violet.
But may look more violet outdoors, sunny weather?
So after 6 months of normal usage my Baltic blue case is looking absolutely terrible. This is not patina IMO, this is clearly the colour coming off it. I've never seen a leather product do this before.
I called apple support and sent them this exact image. Their reply is that this is "normal wear and tear" and they will not offer a replacement or refund, and there is no known issue with this case. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was bluntly told the same. Pretty disappointed for such an expensive and premium product.

Unfortunately this is disgusting. There is only one way to go this year, if we are talking about apple leather cases and that is black.
I can't believe how arrogant Apple CS are about this issue, this can surely not be expected and acceptable? They told me that cosmetics are not covered, and that because the case still protects the phone it is not defective. But the law here states the product must also be of a satisfactory quality, which this isn’t IMO.

Yeah, so happy I didn't buy one this year, that looks like crap.
Still waiting for my decoded case, ordered it 2 weeks ago and as far as I can tell it's still in germany.

I'm sorry. My BB has SOME black edging and thats after minimal use, so this look is just a matter of time (I actually use the black silicone much more), but this is unacceptable! I used my Apple Midnight Blue, Forest Green leather cases on my old 6+, XSMax far more and never had this.
Looking over at Reddit about "patina on the SB cases" One user literally pealed off the top "painted, dye" coating off...but it looked like he revealed a darker leather below that (tedious process he claimed). This just looks like Blue dye, paint over a darn black case.
I rarely say "Sue Apple" or any of that, but this is a total fail from Apple. $60+ bucks and then end up with this after a few months of usage? No! It's flawed, cheaper quality - to clearly save money - and Apple should replace it. My 2 cents on that.
I was on the fence, back and forth "should I take the chance with SB Apple case, or drop $$ and get Bullstrap." I ordered the BS 11:59 Mon. night, it's arriving today. (The BS was actually cheaper than Apple after the 10% discount code). I was looking at the Decoded as well, that brand is new to me.
I think I made the right choice. These Apple cases are total garbage this year!
imo you can’t go wrong with decoded or grams28, grams28 just doesn’t have a brown case. Both are far superior than apples leather case this year you made the right move
