I read somewhere that the cases have been updated. Is this true?

Coz I got the one which was manufactured in Oct'20 & have the return window open right now.

Here’s my Decoded blue leather for the Mini approx 6-7 weeks of use.

That is a lovely blue, is there a slight imperfection on the lower portion of the camera protection.

Does someone on here have experience how the Mujjo Leather cases age? Do they develop a nice patina, especially the brown ones? :)

I tried the Mujjo brown on my old XR and found it aged terribly. The new Apple saddle brown for the 12 reminds me of that case as they both aged the same terrible way. It had a similar coating on it to what Apple now uses. Personally I would recommend Bullstrap or Decoded ahead of Mujjo.

thanks for sharing your insights!!! I think I’ll go for the bullstrap then. Will keep on posting updates when I receive mine.

Can anyone update how their Bullstrap case is holding up after a few months of use?

Still in either topic there are not many or any pictures of how the ***** leather cases are aging, there have been so many posts of people switching to ***** brand instead of the Apple brand leather and than many pictures of them after a few days or a could weeks of use, but none of them after a several months on,
Some of the darker Apple leather cases still look nice after months but really how are these other ones actually holding up...

IF the cases are being updated...and I hope so. I would return the Apple case now in your return window.

See what happens, IF the case is updated, then purchase the newer case. $59.99 for a case that will soon look horrible..in my opinion, it's just too pricy to take a chance.

Yes my saddle brown iPhone 12 case has always felt somewhat sticky, or perhaps rubbery. I figured it would improve in time but it didn't. If anything it got worse. In my opinion these new 'leather' cases are not very nice at all. The old saddle browns aged beautifully but the new ones just don't.
I would love to grab the Apple Saddle Brown, but there are just too many pics of this poor design, coating, dye (whatever Apple did) this year. Many "force" the patina with treatments..from sandpaper to Magic Eraser, alcohol, etc.

Some here on Reddit look pretty good, some...eh.

But darn, we shouldn't have to do this.

Where was it that you read this? Could you supply a link?
or was it somewhere in this thread like most of the other miss information like the colour is painted on, or the leather is actually black underneath the coloured layer, or they are not actually leather but plastic that’s made to look like leather, or so on and so on…

Has anybody's Bullstrap case had the camera ring shrink? When I first got it a few weeks ago it was just barely above the camera lenses but it did still protect them. Just today I noticed that when I lay the phone down the lenses now contact the surface and are above the rim of the case. I contacted them and I'm waiting to hear back. This is very disappointing.

UPDATE: Well that was impressively fast. Within an hour of contacting them Bullstrap customer service sent me an email and a replacement case is being shipped out. I am very impressed, if nothing else they are on point with the CS!
Wow, that was a very good CS! Sadly my experience with Bullstrap is not good at all. I ordered an iPhone XR case back in mid-April with express shipping but they messed up my order. They used the standard shipping and shipped me the other person product lol. Now I am still waiting for my correct one to arrive. Hope I will get the correct one this time.

And this is my previous Decoded case, the Brown one without Magsafe. It has been aging realy well.

That’s crazy. I’ve been using the MagSafe charger for months, charging every night over night and my black case doesn’t show it yet. Do you lay your phone face down or MagSafe down?
I use the Belkin 3-in-1.

Just asking: all of you that are posting bad apple leather case changes, are all first months cases?? Or also recently bought??

Really disappointed with apple even the black cases is starting to look like crapView attachment 1773310
back in the beginning of this topic (that was back in 2017) >>>Click Here<<< the patina process was about the same as how these new apple leather cases are wearing, even though out as more pictures were added this same behavior was still call patina and was just the nature of having a leather case, only difference was that as more and more were added the saddle brown cases were looking very nice, but almost all other colours especially the lighter ones looked odd and actually looked the same as how these new squared edge cases are looking after some usage,
Back then this would have been called patina but more people are saying that their cases are looking like crap and trying to get them exchanged, As the protective coating wears off the leather is going to start to take on a different look, if you don’t like this aging process don’t buy a leather case…

there are still the alternatives, or other brand leather cases instead of the apple branded ones but still with those people are not showing how those are aging and how the patina is developing, there had been pages after pages of them when they were brand new or just a couple weeks old, but where are the pictures of these cases that are now months old and actually starting to patina?

Patina or not I just don’t like the process apple has been using on these cases for the 12 series. I’m sure a lot of people here can agree with me.

I already replaced saddle brown a months back with the Decoded brown leather case. The decoded case is a wearing beautifully. Not some ugly paint/“coating” rubbing off.

Agreed. Go back to the days of the 5s leather cases from apple. Same exact thing then. It’s still a patina. It’s just different. The leather is doing exactly as leather does. Yes, the desired darkening look is easier to obtain on the rounded edge cases, but at the end of the day, it’s leather. Going to be different. I dogged the apple cases, before I bough the saddle brown one I’m using now. I’m not forcing it, I’m letting it go on it’s own this time. The quality is still very much there. People wanted the square edges back, they are back. The corners are going to wear 10x faster than the back. Just roll with it. Still amazing cases, still amazing leather.

I understand your point, and didn’t mean to offend anyone, just if this topic has moved into the direction to add other brand leather cases as well it would be nice to see the patina of those as well and not just the way they look when they are brand new,
just like how the case pic you just posted that case too looks to be wearing the same on the bottom corner and the sides…
