Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

Sorry I missed your other question. Yes you can see the stainless band on the esr case like you can with the apple.
I see. I might just go with the platinum too for the horween leather. Hopefully it’ll be as good as nomad.
They are Hopeless with delivery to Australia. Clear MagSafe case for the 12 max I had the magnets were over the top too strong, ripped my vent holder apart lol.
How does it compare to the Apple MagSafe leather cases in thickness and weight?
I added mine earlier in black - very satisfied.
Had the Sequoia Green leather case for my 13P. Was really excited, as I think hunter green colors pair well with the brown leather wallet from Apple.
Two main complaints:
1. The green is almost comically green. Maybe I just got used to the 12P Cypress Green, and even the 11P green (loved that - true hunter greens), or maybe its because the green felt "sprayed on" - like the brightness of it made the leather look cheap. But yeah, unless this thing patinas like hell, it just looks a bit cheap. Caveat: if you keep the brown leather wallet on all the time, it definitely helps, but damn...just miss the Cypress Green from last years lineup (silicone only, though).
2. Its already not holding up as well as pre-12 leather cases...a week in and it already is turning black/dirty. Corners chipping away. A real shame, as I was hoping Apple would take the negative feedback on their new "leather" and make changes. Guess not.
Normally I would go the Bullstrap route here, but I don't think their 13 lineup is out. Mujjo (with MagSafe) isn't out yet either, at least not until November here in Spain. Never liked the "siding" on Nomad cases.
So...for the first time ever...biting the bullet on the ESR leather (brown) case. I admit ESR always looked a bit cheap to me, as they always pop up on Amazon as the advertised alternatives, especially for iPad cases...but the pics here make me feel like its a purchase worth shooting for, especially considering the low pricing.
NOW...if only I could find a rugged case for my iPad mini 6
Or a leather one. Ill take anything at this point (minus Apples overpriced "smart" folio!).

Dark Cherry 13PM case is breaking in nicely. When compared to a different color brand new apple leather case for the 13PM, really developing a lot more grip where I hold it on the sides and back. This seems to indicate that the grain of the leather is actually picking up my oils through use, which seems different than last year’s wear pattern. Really loving the color on the gold phone. Satisfied thus far!
I looked at the Mujjo cases as well but didn’t like the branding stamp on the back and how the leather goes over the buttons. I agree with you on the nomad, the rubber sides and how the leather is just kinda glued on the back. I can see the edges pulling up especially if it got wet.
bulltrap looked good but no full side coverage with its sharp bottom also no stock at the time, price.
Ordered the lonli case on Amazon but canceled due to it not shopping in time. If you look closer at this one you can see the buttons and camera ring seem to have a odd plastic brown color, same with the buttons. Also many reviews that the leather has a thick coating like the apple cases.
I haven’t owned an esr case before or are if they looked or feel cheap in the past but this one I have feels the opposite with it’s gold anodized camera ring and buttons.
I have no idea how it will patina however but does NOT have that same disgusting painted on rubber feeling my Samsung s20 ultra leather case had. I hated that thing and it patinas just like the apple 12 leather cases, gross.
I’m going to get some conditioner in this one and see how it goes. If it doesn’t wear in as I would like I will wipe it down with acetone/alcohol and then recondition the leather that should do the trick as the leather is very nice quality, the top grain has a great feel as well. The only think that stinks about the esr is the shipping time it took like 11 days from China to my door. That’s still pretty quick however typically China is 3-4 weeks.
Very close, the esr leather feels almost a bit thicker but that could be due to the grain.
Man you guys get screwed on everything except cheap and plentiful Barra engines. Lol I paid $39.14 US shipped. They all come from the same areas in China for the most part so idk what you mean about the leather quality.
I have a sequoia green case and mine kinda smells like rubber. I thought it smelled like leather until you mentioned rubber haha.
curious to see how the dark cherry will hold up and look after time, love the color as-is.
I have a feeling apple is using PU leather for their cases now. Never have I ever seen a leather develop such a lousy patina and not smell like leather AT ALL. And we can’t use the excuse that the squared off edges are the culprit since other brands like decoded, grams28, and bullstrap age just fine. Apple is cutting corners for profit and it’s really a shame they don’t correct this for their customers

Nah, just using really thin cheap leather and then painting it to get the desired color. It’s the paint (and glue) causing the smell and it’s the paint wearing off that looks so bad. I agree it’s cheap and looks like garbage. If they were going for quality the leather should be dyed the desired color (and the brown should be brown from the tanning/finishing process, not from a paint).
From someone else’s review, here’s a caseless 13 Pro with the Golden Brown leather wallet - I think this looks quite neat
Very nice to actuallly see the device! After hearing the leather products have a chemical coating on them since last year and dont patina I am just keeping my Midnight and returning my others and mainly going caseless.
