Posted this earlier but what do you think about the 2 cases I have? Which would you choose? (The colour is the same by the way, just the light is different)

Finally my midnight blue arrived lol, scored the tiger stripe version, lucky it was free or would be going back not a fan of stripes. (its a fault imo not leather stretched)
Seems bit tighter than my black 12 max, a lot of blue in it when together in the light.
Coincidently arrived with my Mrs Brown Nomad 12 max folio, the difference in leather and smell is like chalk and cheese. Real leather v cheap chemical smell. Buttons are great on the folio.
Will be getting a nomad magsafe for my 13 max once available here.

Top looks better. My golden brown is like the bottom one, looks like it wasn’t stamped hard enough, and the logo is flush with the rest of the case, not pushed in. Doesn’t really bother me though as it’s a backup to my midnight case (when it finally arrives) and everything else about the case is fine. Buttons are all good, and in better lighting there is some grain to the leather, it’s not as smooth as it first looked out of the box. Feels smooth though.

Thanks for the pics.
I apply some mink oil on my "golden".
Maybe the coating is quite thick.. it didn't penetrate into the leather and darken it.. maybe it isn't genuine leather.. maybe it's polyurethane leather.
I think it is genuine but there is a coating no doubt. I havent used mink oil on it, just Neatsfoot.

Looks like you got super lucky with that one! It’s such a shame that Apple totally ruined these cases 2 years in a row now. My handed down xs max case has such an amazing deep glazed chocolate patina these days. Now they upped the ante giving us baby **** yellow with a plastic coating lol

I’d like to use it but I’ve seen a lot of rings on folk’s cases. I don’t want to see any rings on mine.
I wanted a high quality leather case with MagSafe as well but after seeing all the wear circles and how I neither trust MagSafe car mounts and don’t use MagSafe chargers since they are so slow.

I’m kind of glad at this point I found the platinum case made with Horween leather from Chicago where some of the best leather in the world comes from. My only gripe at this point is the embossed branding but hopefully it will just blend in eventually.

I apologize for recommending the esr case. I mean if you want a great case that wears worse than the apple leather it’s great but they are falsely advertising the leather as being too grain and being able to obtain a “rich patina” when in reality it’s bottom of the barrel Chinese garbage leather. Essentially bottom layer big collagen low quality split and pressed leather. You can throw any solvent, oil, wax, sanding, buffing at it and end up down to the plastic base and it will always look like complete garbage. I have seen better skin on cheap bologna.

no matter how far you go down you will still always have this rusty orange dye and fake pressed grain to deal with. Right into the trash.

I’ve sanded mine down. I didn’t think I would but I’m glad I did. Here it is a few days ago after the sanding and a good dose of leather conditioner. I also used a razor blade to scrape the leather smooth, it’s like soft nubuck now. I wasn’t going for a fake patina btw, I just removed the coating to expose the true leather and allow for a more natural patina. View attachment 1851351
My man I would love a tutorial, I totally butchered mine, to the point that im thinking about applying chocolate brown Leather Dye, from. This point you think is posible to still sand it properly to show a more uniform patina?

The problem is trying to get that Glassy glaze. Like the esr leather for instance is more or less pressed and processed/painted suede so any type of abrasive will basically unmask what it really is.

Here is some real deal pull up leather. It feels so good and keeping getting better and better everyday. I haven’t even really had this more than a few weeks now.

Garbage “fake” leather on top, premium quality leather on the bottom.
Don’t forget however. 1 is from some unscrupulous Chinese company and the other is a handmade product made in Holland. But the prices aren’t too far off this wallet is amazing and was $57 bucks, while this dumb esr case was $39 and change.

The secrid wallets are made in Holland with this super high quality leather, a custom aluminum extruded and machined laser engraved aluminum body a card popping mechanism with steel, plastic etc and everything else all with a 3 year warranty even. It shows you that these cases are an overpriced racket to say the least.

Looks good Sir. I like the nomad stuff Instill have an AirTag card holder in order with them. I would buy a case from them but just too bulky around the sides on a pro max and how it glues to the back. I would totally get moisture in between the the crack on the leather/rubber on the edges and it would puff up .

That’s not bad at all tbh. I personally wouldn’t add any dye to it yet - no quick undo if it really turns out ugly! I used 400-600 grit paper on the *dry* case and scraped it softly with a razor blade. Just imagine it’s your face skin - that softly. It will be light brown/ tan, add some conditioner (just a little needed) and after a week or two it’ll darken nicely. The hardest parts are around the buttons.. I’ve hit a dead end with those.

Has anyone removed the buttons before??

Anyone tried Andar cases? I have had their wallets before and also their AirPods case… their leather cases look good! Just wondering if anyone has any experience?
