Looks excellent. Mind describing your technique and the step by step process?my “patina” project on my iPhone 13 pro max “golden brown”View attachment 1873083
sure. I used a lot of alcohol wipes on the cover. I washed and dried it after.Looks excellent. Mind describing your technique and the step by step process?
This my also favorite.All,
I'm curious to see the patina on those Apple Leather cases. This one is my Pink Fuchsia - 3 weeks of use. Let's see yours!
Ehhh…just as I was about to place an order, that might be a dealbreaker for me at least. Why in the world wouldn’t they have a raised lip around the camera cutout? This was the case for me with my 12PM. It didn't bother me cuz I always put my phone down face first (on something else). But that is a good thing to point out. As the case wears, especially, the camera lens will be exposed.
It was the case for my 12PM. Maybe it won’t be for the 13? It’s on back order till 11/1 so we will find out in a few weeks. The case leather quality is why I buy it. Not paper thin like everyone else. I miss the BlackBrook casesEhhh…just as I was about to place an order, that might be a dealbreaker for me at least. I like it. Did you apply anything to take off the coating for this ?
Nail polish remover and a little bit of sandingI like it. Did you apply anything to take off the coating for this ?
mine hasn't done the yetSo far the only downside about the new Midnight leather case is that it doesn’t cover the edge stain as well the black leather from last year. I don’t remember my black leather case showing this much wear so early on. But besides the edges it’s doing pretty good. Still highly doubtful that the leather is any better than last year.
Here you go. You do see a thin line of the side rails. Mine is graphite so it sort of blends in, but if you got any of the other colors it will probably be more noticeable.nice! would you mind also sharing a picture of the front? i.e. to see how the case fits the edges of the phone? thanks![]()
Did you put anything on the case? This looks way better than the brown Nomad I used daily for 4 months straight on my mini. I’m currently using the natural Nomad on my regular 12.View attachment 1874835iPhone 13pro gold with Nomad rugged and handmade leather lanyard
For sure, I don't have the mujjo but we have the other 2, I wish the nomad was the same height as the apple leather, the sides don't worry me actually better here with the hot/humid weather and being around water etc, apple's gets so sticky and you have to have dry hands to pick it up.The Nomad is the only one of the 3 that actually smells of leather.
Thanks for the tips! Worked great! Was able to strip the protective coating/pumpkin orange off of my golden brown case. Looks and feels much better now, and is starting to develop a more natural patina.

I’m unsure how you used it but mine doesn’t show it yet. Reason i got the midnight 1st and then the golden is that patina or stains/ wear on midnight won’t be very visible, compared to the rest of the colour. And that to me, it’s quite boring. I mean, you can tell my looking at the pictures that the case is not abused. I just use my phone a lot and the point of contact with the hand is already showing those signs of wear. I’m a fan of the fit and feel (and MagSafe FTW) of these cases but not the quality of the leather, especially compared to pre-12 series Apple leather cases. To me this is not really “patina” but I’m glad you’re enjoying your golden brown. I’m not a fan of the shade of brown they used this year.I’m unsure how you used it but mine doesn’t show it yet. Will do!

The 13 mini uses the HUGE camera sensor from iPhone 12 Pro Max….so, the camera lens protrudes MORE than the 12 mini camera. There is no way around this...unless you make the phone a lot thicker.View attachment 1874350
Apple Leather Case, Golden Brown vs Saddle Brown
The Golden Brown has a noticeable texture, and there are two diagonal lines (one is visible in the photo). To me, this color looks like a slightly darker shade of orange. Saddle Brown rules the roost, but I am becoming more and more sure that I will be very happy with Dark Cherry that will give me the closest look to a deeply patina'd Saddle Brown. Or, I could get a Dark Cherry wallet for a nice contrast!
Furthermore, I wholeheartedly despise the camera bump. With a case, the backs of both the 8 and 12 mini could be flush. Here, with 13 mini, nope. I want Tim to be heavily questioned on his thoughts about the aesthetics of this damn lip that protrudes out of even a case! Double-trillion dollar company... they could have done away with this lip, this lip sits taller than it needs to. Even if it were flush, it would still have protected the lens enough.
I do not remember the name of the member who first said it, but I have to agree that the 13 mini feels even better weight-wise with the case on. But, over the past 3 days, I have grown to use this device at home without a case, owing to its flat edges, but might still just use it with the case at home as well, considering that a nick or a fall can occur anytime and any place, home or not. If I buy AppleCare+ I would still have to shell out USD 125 or so to get the device replaced per instance.. so maybe, just maybe, I will use some sense and start with a case both at home and out.

I just ordered an Andar Aspen. We'll see how it goes. Suppose to ship Friday. For $40 after a discount code, I figured it was worth a shot. What are you guys thoughts on Andar Aspen case? Haven’t seen many people mention this one. Considering either it or the Nomad modern leather case. I know fit and finish and quality of leather is great on nomad but not sure on the Andar.
The esr will not patina like high quality leather. It's more like a thickly painted suede.Any idea how does it patina, maybe from 12 PM or earlier models ?
