Hey guys. Got my Andar Aspen case in and man am I blown away. The smell of the leather hits you as soon as you open the box! The order process was great and they delivered several days earlier than promised.

First and foremost, the quality of the leather is top notch! Much better IMO than the Apple leather case.

The fit and finish is amazing as well. Case fits tightly and buttons are clicky. Cameras are also protected as well with a slightly raised lip.

The bottom is open however I actually prefer that as I use the reachability feature all the time and the open bottom makes it easier. This case fits more tightly than the apple case so if there is a bottom impact I’m sure the two corners and bottom lip of the case will provide enough clearance to protect the phone.

It also came with a $5 off coupon which I plan to use for a MagSafe wallet. Best of all it is made in the USA!
Looks remarkably like the Bullstrap cases, but much less expensive.

I have had the Decoded Chocolate Brown iPhone 13 back cover for a couple of weeks now and I see no signs of patina. The leather really doesn't seem to be of the type that will patina, despite the promise on the packaging. I'm a bit disappointed, but will give it a few more weeks.
Same for my Vaja. Not realizing that their bridge leather develops a patina rather than their floater leather cases, which I purchased. So, my Vaja will more than likely never patina.

I'd take that vaja look over the apple case anyday.
Definitely. The Vaja is an amazing case, I just made the mistake of ordering their floater leather and not their bridge leather which seems to patina nicely. The floater leather will look the same as the day I purchased it. Which is also fine, I guess. :p

70% Isopropyl Alcohol wipes. No sandpaper and no oils, at least for now. Kept wiping the case until I could see the alcohol soaking into the leather underneath the coating. That's when you know you've penetrated and wiped away the coating. Let it dry for about 20 min and it was good to go. It's slightly more orange than in the picture due to lighting, but I think it will look great in a weeks time.

Thank you for the tips.

I hope it will patina beautifully like the pre-12 leather case. I will update the progress when i see any changes.

Was able to strip the protective coating/pumpkin orange off of my golden brown case. Looks and feels much better now, and is starting to develop a more natural patina.

Sorry, did u wiped the coating until the WHOLE back case body looks like soaking wet (looking almost black colour)?

Because I stopped wiping when i saw black dots and marks appeared here and there. I’m afraid i might damaged the leather (even though the black marks will turned golden brown again when it dry.

Yeah I kept going until the case was a dark brown soaked with the alcohol. It evaporated in less than a minute and was back to normal. If you stop at that point, not all the protective coating will be gone.

Oh i see! It wouldn’t damage the leather texture isn’t it?

And which type of cloth did you used?

Thanks again for your help. ?

No it didn't really damage the leather texture. It didn't feel as soft as it did out of the box, but to me if felt more like leather after the process was done. It was rough for a day or so, but now that it's starting to wear in, it's starting to get a bit softer. You can always add leather conditioner afterwards. I didn't because I don't have any handy.

I used 70% iso wipes from Walgreens.

I have 99% iso alcohol laying around wondering if that's a little too strong, anyone used higher than the 70% ?

I used 80% isopropyl over and over til the brown paint/coating or whatever they used quit coming off on my microfiber towel. I have the saddle brown on a 12PM and it’s super smooth and soft now and feels like the older pre 12 leather cases. Much nicer and doesn’t have the sticky/grippy feeling anymore. Also using the duragloss 221 which enhances the leather smell.

One month with Golden Brown. So far the patina is just on the edges… hopefully it will go on the entire case. I still like the color anyway :)

Looks the same. I got one but took it back as it felt like plastic
Agreed. I love the profile and the clicky buttons. Love how it has no sag either. But…it feels like PU leather and almost rubbery/plasticky tacky. Far from premium. Good grip, though!

Did you switch to something else?

I usually go case-less but got a midnight and took it back after a few days as it felt like plastic. Have the golden brown coming tomorrow and if I like it will keep and take the coating off. Love the 13PM the way it is though and dont really need/want a case.

Just got my Golden Brown for the 13 mini. I like the color, and hoping it will Patina some, if not I'll try the forced patina angle.

I always do the no case thing for a day but then go back. Think I need to give it a longer run.

It is a beautiful phone. My only issue caseless is when putting on my car seat it slides around. Only reason I am contemplating another leather case.

Took the wallet back as only holding 3 without cash or insurance cards is too small. 3 cards is fine but need the other 2 items. I got the bellroy card sleeve instead.
