It depends how long you plan to keep your phone? If you’re upgrading every year, might not be worth it. If you keep your phone longer than 1 year, BS is worth it for their customer service and replacement policy.

I did get the Bullstrap "Bourbon" MagSafe LAST Summer for the 12 Pro Max. Beautiful case, but only had it on my phone literally a day and 1/2 (at the time, I was worried about the open "lip" at the bottom...silly worry in hindsight. so I went back to Apple).

But it turned out to be a waste of $, I ended up getting the 13 Pro Max weeks later...this Bullstrap mint condition case is just sitting in a box. 🙄

Same here. I have tried so many different cases, tpu / silicone / aramid and get back every time. the apple leather case tops them all. it's thin, looks classy, has perfect buttons and just feels fantastic.

If i want to see the nice design of the iphone, I use it sometimes without a case. I can't use a clear case because of the bad haptic.

Always want to and do try other leather cases for better patinas but I last a couple of days at most before I got back to my Apple Leather.

I keep going back and forth with the Bullstrap and apple leather cases. I think the Bullstrap lasts longer on my phone though. IMO it’s alot more comfortable for the pinky and the open bottom allows for a much more comfortable swipe. Plus I love sniffing my Bullstrap leather like a weirdo 😂

I was really disappointed about that there is no black or saddle brown this year so I tried to force the patina on the golden brown a bit - still in progress and not finished yet.
Mostly im using the midnight! The Bullstrap just arrived and while I think the case itself is high quality it ads a bit more bulk and some people might not like the open bottom - which I can live with.

Which I can't is the weak magsafe magnet! For 120€ im expecting a much better magnet, I mean...the case is already bulkier anyway.

While the apple leather cases pop out on the left down corners the Bullstrap fits really snug.

I think if you want nice patina and a snug case and you don't need magsafe and can life with the open bottom its the best case to me.

I might swap between the midnight and the Bullstrap for a while but at the end I think im going back to apple which I have always done...

Thanks for posting this.

I have been debating pulling the trigger on a Bullstrap case for ages but your comments about the Magsafe magnet being weak (needs to be as strong as Apple's for my car mount) and it adding more bulk means I won't pull said trigger!

You’re welcome! No definitely wouldn’t trust the case there! It’s really a weak magnet…it’s ok for charging etc but wouldn’t stick it on a car mount.

My Bullstrap cases have no issues staying out on my esr halo car mount. My apple wallet also stays put really well on the Bullstrap. Just don’t buy the Bullstrap MagSafe wallet cause it’s trash.

I don’t know if you got the leather case from Apple to but I got both cases here and the wallet sticks definitely way better on the Apple one!

Yeah it definitely sticks better on the apple leather case. I was just pointing out that the magnet strength isn’t an issue on the Bullstrap case for me.

I’m not talking about car mount I’m talking about my experience with the wallet! Im not using a car mount as my navigation is integrated.
The wallet is definitely more easy to take off so to me it’s shows that the magnet is weaker compared to apple and this is what a lot of people confirm with their Bullstrap cases.

My bad. Yeah I can definitely confirm that the wallet is much easier to take off when it’s on the Bullstrap. I’m currently in a dilemma of switching back and forth from Bullstrap to apple leather lol. I also keep switching from using my apple wallet to my front pocket andar wallet. I wish the apple wallet would hold 4 cards and not 3 😫

Yeah, the Apple leather cases almost feels like an extension of the iPhone itself -- just a leather version of an iPhone in a way.

I think that's where most case manufacturers miss the mark--their cases don't feel like an extension of the iPhone but an actual cover, covering the entire phone.

One pass of 3rd party cases I would give in terms of feeling like an extension of the phone are aramid fiber cases like Pitaka, Latercase, etc. It's just that if you drop that thing it's over.

That’s so true but unfortunately I really dislike the orange and the midnight is a weird color to me!
I don’t get why they didn’t kept the black and saddle brown…at least the black…

You’re right the Apple cases feeling like a skin - like the phone itself!

I could even imagine using the silicone again but that one is even more blueish then the leather one - that’s why I’m using the leather because it’s more close to black.

The leather cases from Apple feeling just so amazing with the phone…but I paid -110€ now for the Bullstrap so I HAVE TO use it now for a while…

Pitaka cases I tried and I don’t like them…feeling sharp and cheap to me.

Had the Andar Case and wallet but wasn’t a good experience to me…from all cases the Bullstrap and the WIIUKA were the best 3rd party cases.

I wish the Bullstrap MagSafe wallet had strong magnets. Now I have the andar turner front pocket wallet and am considering the Anson Calder wallet but it’s $140 😳

Glad to see that I’m not the only one who feels like this. For me, *any* 3rd party case is a hard no - they just make the tactile experience of using the phone crap.

We can debate the leather quality as well as the colors of the Apple leather cases (and I am disappointed that there is no saddle brown anymore), but when it comes to fit, finish and feel there is just no match, not even close. So I just find the least offensive color (green for me in the current lineup) and go with that.

Started rubbing off the finish of my golden brown leather case. Currently using Clorox wipes and a lot of elbow grease. Any recommendation so I can get a more “even” finish.

When I had one of these cases I used a damp magic eraser which worked really well.

Couldn't say it better! Now one day later after receiving the Bullstrap im back to apple already...probably going with the green now - that's a least to most masculine color to me and looks also somehow noble.

I have used only Nomad and Bullstrap. Should I give a chance to the Apple one?

Day 1 of a freshly opened and de coated iPhone 13 mini case for my green mini, I tried the golden brown leather this time and to my surprise the leather underneath is actually of good quality and now once cleaned looks very similar to uncoated raw leather, I used the magic eraser technique to remove the bulk of the paint then finished up with 100% iso alcohol, the case was then neutralised with plain water wiped down over the case then left to dry out for 24hrs, will update on how the case looks after a couple of weeks and months, I think the key is to do it on a case that has never been use, very happy with the outcome
