Why do leather case makers (with the exception Bullstrap) seem to think people only want black and brown? One of the nicest things about the Apple leather options is they came in a wide range of colors. Really disappointing for those of us who aren’t brown case people.
I’m guessing it’s because most of these are small companies and they are sticking to the most popular colours to control costs.

I had one of these pre-ordered and ended up canceling after the second time it was delayed. I ended up with a Sienna Bullstrap. Is the Satchel and Page the same thickness? It looks like the camera bump might interfere with some MagSafe accessories on the Satchel and Page because it’s not thinner on the bottom of the camera cutout, unlike the Bullstrap. What do you think about the buttons. I am not going to get one in addition to my Bullstrap, but I’m curious how they compare.
Everything about this case except for the leather itself is the same as Bullstrap RL and Wilken

My first Horween Leather case in slate blue (it’s more like slate grey) from GWW.
Great smell and touch of real leather.

Posted this on Reddit, but figured it may be of interest here as well:

Back in September, I noticed that my Sienna case for my 13 was leaving some residue on the back of my phone. I had just gotten this case in February, as a replacement for a case from last fall which had the exact same issue, which they had assured me was not normal behaviour. So I reached out to customer support to get the case replaced. They confirmed again, that this was not normal behaviour and the replacement arrived a few weeks later. This case is nothing like the original.

The leather is dry and grainy. That is secondary to the issues with the buttons and the fit. The volume down and lock buttons are completely recessed into the sides of the case. they do not click at all, and it's obvious that they were inset incorrectly because they were not straight (this is most obvious on the lock button). Further, the bottom corners do not grasp the phone securely and they pop out constantly. I thought this would go away with some wearing in so I used the case for a week to see if some wear would help. it did not.

Initially, I thought it was no problem, I just got a bad case it happens, and I emailed support with photos and videos. They tell me they are gonna run it up the chain. They responded that they see no issue with the case, but would replace it if I send this one back, with shipping both ways at my own expense of course, after already refusing to reimburse me for the cost of shipping the faulty replacement- to give some context, I am in western Canada, shipping back and forth to Florida is not cheap and would put me further out of pocket. The case itself was already over $100 CAD and each replacement had cost around $25 CAD. At this point, I wasn't interested in burning any more money over this case. Chalk it up as a loss and a lesson.

There is something going on with Bullstrap, 3 cases in 12 months, 2 with the same failure and 1 bad out of the box. Things seem to be changing for the worse and when I came here to check what others were saying, it looks like quality issues are creeping up frequently. I have attached an album here with everything.

When my 15 pro max arrives I will be switching to Ryan London.

Had to go through this today for my $11 case. Seems like a scam.

No idea what that’s about. I’ve had sellers try to message me when returning things before but I just block them and let Ali Express handle it.

Their translations are hit and miss. In your case, I would have just cancelled and reordered as cancellations are instant.

Do you mind pointing me in the direction of which products? I don’t want to risk making it any worse.
When I get water stains, or other stains, I use Saphir Omninettoyant. It is a mild suede shampoo. Works great on all leathers though, as well as other fabrics.

You can’t spot clean with this though, you foam up and lightly scrub (small brush included) the entire case. Beware that if you scrub hard and long you will remove some colouring. After cleaning (let it fully dry) you use leather conditioner and depending on how hard you scrubbed you might want a cream with pigment to bring it back to original colour.

Would anyone be interested in purchasing RL saddle brown for 15PM? And would I be allowed to link to an ebay listing?

Used for a week and realized I prefer dark brown.

Don’t want to ship back to the UK from US, so going to sell at a loss as I’ve learned that the patina for this type of leather won’t darken the way the old Apple leather cases used to patina.
It will darken faster and more than old Apple leather cases. But maybe that’s not what you want?

This has happened to all of my BS cases, it’s the adhesive holding the interior lining to the shell leaching through the edges.

That is unacceptable. Can easily remove adhesive residue with some oil (baby oil, cooking oil, olive oil, any oil really) on a paper towel. Still unacceptable because other case manufacturers don’t have this issue.

Totally agree. Another reason I really miss Apple leather cases. I just tried a Bullstrap and it was just meh…. Definitely like the Apple leather case much better and the Bullstrap will be going back. Either will use my FW case or just go naked most of the time, unless someone actually makes a leather case that matches Apple and is green too. 🙂

Yep, not surprising. I’ve had issues with BS too. There is something going on there for sure.

As a fellow Canadian I switched to Keyway. They are Canadian so you get fast cheap shipping and no duty. Check them out. It’s a great product. Full grain leather, full coverage too. Although some people don’t like the branding.

I have done all kinds of testing out cases, and you are right. That is just nothing that matches the Apple leather case. I know the aging isn’t everyone’s favorite, but for fitment, finish, and buttons, you can’t beat the Apple leather cases. I actually just ordered a backup Ink Apple leather case for my 14PM. As other have said, the multiple colors that Apple always offered was the best. I still think the Deep Purple and Ink leather case is the best combo Apple ever made. I will be using the 14pm until it’s unusable or someone decides to make a case almost just like the Apple leather cases.

Hmm are you saying that the RL case will patina similar to the extent of iPhone 11 and prior saddle brown cases? I believe you had said not to expect this dramatic of a change for the RL in a prior reply which is part of my buyers remorse

Yeah unfortunately this seems to be the case with the unsaturated bare leather used for cases today. Not how it's supposed to be if you look at real patina on proper leather goods.
Actually, I think I misunderstood your reply here

Never said any such thing. Quite the opposite, it will reach that stage of darker brown faster than iPhone X case ever did. It will also be a more even, less spotty, color change, which is something I do not like. I want it to be spotty and uneven.

What I did is try to saturate the leather with leather balm and uncoloured leather cream, so that it does not soak up as much from my hands, to slow the process down. No idea if it works, time will tell.

Anyone have any reccs for a product that stops color transfer for leather? Both color bleed from the case, and color transfer from case to other items.

You can try Geist's Dye & Friction blocker. It's more for preventing color transfer from clothes to leather but it might work the same way for preventing the leather dye from leeching into clothing. However, that product is meant for non-aniline leather. If you have aniline leather then their Aniline Cream product is what you want. https://www.leathercare.com/collections/condition

I posted the name of such a product a few pages ago. Search for “stop color”.

If you need a product for leather, Saphir has it, guaranteed.

This is a super helpful visual, thank you so much.

Are these all Ryan London Saddle Brown color? Bottom photo RHS is what mine looks like now, and would love for it to eventually become like bottom photo LHS.

Interesting, I looked for a product of theirs before I posted here. Looks like I can't purchase Stop Color in the US. Is there a generic name for this type of product? Their product page wasn't super detailed.
