You may not, but a lot of us don’t worry so much about how it looks, but how it functions and fits on the phone. Nothing matches any of that. Maybe the aging isn’t like you like, but that doesn’t make it bad case.
Also that picture is a botched forced patina. The Apple cases don’t age like that naturally.
I think I might have a problem. The Ink case next to the Orange and the orange Apple leather case are both over a year old. The Umber I have only had for about 2 weeks, and the lighter Ink is brand new. It’s a back up since the Ink is my favorite case. Can’t get it anymore, and need to have back in case anything happens. And so I can keep the 14pm as long as possible.
The aging isn’t for everyone on the Apple leather cases, but the color options and fit just can’t be beat.
And for all those saying Apple leather didn’t patina, well it’s clear from the Ink they surely do. Even as well.

Sure, but you share your opinion as if it’s facts. It’s clear that you know a lot about leather, but you use that knowledge to push further to express your opinions on leather cases as facts. The aging process is all about personal preference.
The comment you made about the Golden Brown Apple leather case clearly shows the limit of your knowledge of the Apple leather cases. That was clearly a forced patina that was done very poorly. With that in mind, there are plenty of people that don’t mind the aging process of the Apple leather cases. Myself being included.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this patina. Darken even across the case. Looks fantastic, and you can’t get this color in any other manufacturer.
I also don’t have any issue with this patina. The orange has darken a great deal on the entire case over a year. The edges get darker just like your RL and BS, and any other case. I actually prefer the feel of this over the dry ass RL and BS. It feels good as soon as I take it out of the box. I don’t have to put leather crème or anything else on the case.
I am not ******** on yours or anyone else’s case and patina. Your knowledge of leather doesn’t give you that right.
My "knowledge of the apple leather cases" does not matter, I merely commented that whatever that was looks like crap. Be it natural patina or botched manual patina. Doesn't matter how it got there, I still think it looks really bad. Just my opinion.
We all have different opinions on what patina is or should be. Some people are leather "purists" if you can call it that and some people only care that it is in fact leather, somewhere under the surface.
So you see fit to make negative comments about people’s cases because you don’t like it? Doesn’t seem to be supporting the community.
In this case (see what I did there?!) I felt 99% of everyone in here would agree. I did not however make a comment about your orange apple case, even though I could have.

Hahaha bring on your opinion of my case. I could care less what you think of my case. I don’t hold your opinion very high, so it means little to me.
I am not taking anything personal. I am just trying to promote a bit of positivity. Seems this thread has become back and forth about case and crapping on the opposing company to ones case. Would like the see the thread get back to why it was started. Your comment doesn’t really help that.
Sure, some of us may feel that way, but there is no need to be crass. We can still be critical without being rude about it.
You literally just "crapped on the other companies" like 5 posts ago by saying RL and BS were "Dry ass cases" You can't have it both ways. If you are going to bad mouth the others you have to be able to accept that some of us don't like the Apple cases.
Lets just move on from this pointless pissing match and get back to posting photos of patina... thats why were are all here after all. This thread is getting out of hand. Sheesh
I didn’t say anything about anyone’s patina from them posting a case. I in fact own a Bullstrap case. I am making the comment that it’s dry leather. I am not commenting on someone else posting their case.
I agree this thread has gone way off course. It’s the comments that I am referring to that get the thread off course. This has been going on for a year or more.
What case is this? It's coming along for sure. I like the logo being engraved, and it looks solid. Color isn't my favorite, but the patina is nice.
Yeah, I sent them an email to inquire about it. Hoping it's just an issue with this one and not just how they are. Agreed that doesn't look up to snuff, especially on a nearly $90 case.
Can we please just go back to sharing patina photos instead of arguing lol
Its def not how they should be. They will get you squared away. Either way, your entitled to two replacements.

Would love that, seems like for the last year or more it’s been this case is crap or that case is crap. Let’s just appreciate the damn pictures and the process. Some egos need to shrink in here.
Hopefully we start getting some good 15 leather case patinas soon. Still early.

Surprisingly enough they use Italian vachetta leather. It isn't smooth/flat leather, but I'm kinda OK with that kind of grain/structure. It is rather discreet.
Vachetta leather has a very high fat/oil content, it is saturated during tanning. Never touched this version, which they call "Italian Vachetta whale leather". Surely it's not actual whale? But if the tanning method is the true Vachetta tanning method they use in Italy, then it is perfect leather for a phone case. I have 1 wallet and 2 briefcases in Italian Vachetta leather and it is the best.
Sadly it has a cutout for action button and the cutout around camera looks to be just as horrible as Ryan London.

When this thread first started, I use to just scroll the thread looking for the pictures. Always a joy. I was doing the same about 6 months ago, then it all turned when Apple said they weren’t producing leather cases anymore. I wanted to see if there was an alternative to it. That’s kind of what this thread came. Would be nice to just get back to the patina post.
So not phone case, but I thought still some great patina leather love in the Apple category. Both of these bands I bought in the fall of 2015 when released, and still rocking both. The original Fauve Hermes Apple Watch band, and the 2nd Saddle Brown classic buckle Apple Watch band. The ever famous great leather of Apples. They both age beautifully.
I agree. At first I was quite disappointed with the color (some kind of „mustardbrown“) but I put all my hopes in a nice patina process and to be honest it got better and better colorwise. It is the Donbolso iPhone 14 Pro case in vintage brown. Hard to say anything negative about it. Nice clicky black buttons, closed bottom, slim, MagSafe, black rim around the camera, soft touch, after four weeks now a lot grippier than on day 1.
