I have received my Andar leather case in Moss Colour and I must say I am a little disappointed and might even return it

There are two little Black dots on the back of the case. I know leather marks up easily, but the case is new so there should be no markings. I also find the corners on the back of the case rough feeling and lighter in colour than the rest of the case..surely this cannot be right? The issues are not visible in pics and only visible when the case is in front of you.
I can't answer for the black dots but they would probably replace.

As for the text in bold - it's genuine leather, it's where the leather is stretched around the corners of the case which is normal. My moss case is the same although still slightly lighter, they have smoothed out.

Exactly right. Anytime leather is stretched it will lighten in color slightly. The edges are also the first part of the case to darken from use so this is will only be noticeable for a short time. The leather will also get smoother from use.

Exactly why ordering from Andar to the UK is such a huge risk. After you’ve paid the outrageous $16 delivery fee and then to send it back, you’re better just keeping it.

$16, approx £12 is not outrageous for US to UK shipping.

Especially the shipping methods they use.

Royal Mail will charge you £9 to ship something guaranteed next day, two towns away.

Hmmmm I may contact them and see what they say
Whilst the dots on the case are tiny and can only be seen when putting the case right up close to your face, the case is brand new and should not have any marks...

Maybe I am being too picky?

I would say that is quite picky.

It’s probably in the leather. If you look close enough on mine you can see little black pigmentations, especially at the edges. I can see it in yours too in the centre of the case

You saying “it shouldn’t have any marks”. It’s real leather so there will be random markings in it. It shouldn’t have any marks caused by people handing the case but what you’re pointing out there is natural in my opinion

Agree, Leather is a natural product and will have blemishes and other variances between each case. Thats part of the magic of leather. No two cases will look the exact same. Its character.

Besides in a few weeks time Patina will have started and those little marks will begin to blend in with the leather as it darkens.

If you want a pristine case that never shows any marks then leather is not for you.

That’s to be expected from any full grain leather product, it’s natural. Plus those marks will be hidden once the case gets used and starts to patina anyway…

It absolutely is if there are issues with the case that Andar doesn’t consider as faulty (which they will likely claim with the poster’s issue), you’re then out the $16 and the return shipping cost.

Tell me how Caudabe can ship to the UK for free within a week and Andar can’t? I get you’re an Andar fan, but there’s no excuse for the shipping fees when other US companies either charge far less or none at all over a certain spending limit.

It’s not about being “a fan” it’s about people being realistic of costs for things.

People want a lot, for nothing.

Andar trust their products. They offer a very generous warranty policy whereby if you receive a case that has a genuine defect, they will ship a replacement (even a different colour if you wish) free of charge and not ask for the faulty one back. They also offer a warranty policy whereby if there’s a complaint with a case but after providing proof they deem it as not a fault, you can pay a small fee for a replacement and not return the one you’re complaining about.

If someone wants to return because they don’t like it or changed their mind, then yes, they should be liable to pay shipping costs.

Caudabe use USPS for their cheapest shipping option. Which is also the free shipping method if spending over a certain amount.

Maybe Andar doesn’t trust this as it’s a postal service and chooses not to offer. Caudabe’s premium level of shipping which matches Andar’s basic level of shipping costs $19.99. Which is $3.99 more.

The US has the strongest market for genuine leather cases which are actually any good. This doesn’t mean the companies should offer ROW shipping for a pittance.

Has anyone had any experience with Tumi leather cases? I've just bought a Tumi Magsafe Wallet in 'Ballistic' (Nylon) and the quality is out of this world. Curious as to what their leather is like.....

It’s not about “wanting a lot, for nothing”. I’m not saying it should be free delivery, but paying 30% of the product’s overall value on shipping, when the product isn’t exactly cheap itself, isn’t reasonable in my opinion. It’s subjective anyway, so we’ll have to just agree to disagree on this one.

Because their cases probably cost $2 to produce. Or they ship direct from the warehouse in China or a European hub.
What has the production value got to do with what a company charges for shipping? These leather cases aren’t exactly costing a fortune to produce either. They ship from the US, ordered from there twice this year and have received my items within a week with full tracking along the way.

Come on, it is clearly a profit center for them. It is as simple as that.

Looks like sandmarc has a new “thin” leather case coming out end of the this month. It’s says 1.2 oz for the 15 pro so 34 grams. Doesn’t sound like it will be apple thin but at least it doesn’t have the weird camera cover their other cases have.

Edit: sand and black are already available

Have you guys ever shipped internationally before?

The UK leaving the EU has had a massive impact on shipping fees to and from the UK.

In my line of work, we regularly ship parcels out domestically and internationally. It’ll cost us £6/7 to ship domestically. To the states, depending on the value of the package, it’ll cost anything from £20 to £50 ish. Thats net price, to our business.

We as a company will make a mark up on that and charge it out to clients at 10/20% more than we pay for it.

That’s business.

Andar and other such companies will be paying fedex/UPS at least $10/12 per package to ship these to the UK. They then have to cover off any potential taxes so the receiver doesn’t pay anything upon receipt. That side of it is hit n miss as sometimes customs charge, sometimes they don’t.

Then you have the cost of the packaging to cover off that they’ll be doing so in the cost of shipping. It all adds up.

Buying a $50/60 product from the states and paying under $20 for shipping is reasonable, all things and processes considered IMO

It looks very similar to andar aspen - but cheaper.

1.4oz for the Max, which is 40g. Nothing minimal about that at all, pretty much in line with every leather case out there for the Max.

Their “Pro Leather Case” is 1.5oz, 0.5g heavier. What’s the point in this minimal one?😂

Hi all

Love the color of the turquoise Ander Aspen case (I saw a few patina photos and it comes in really well) but it’s out of stock and shipping from the US to Spain would take roughly a month (especially with customs).

Are there any European alternatives?

Also, am I right to assume that the Bandwerk Performance Sage case wouldn’t patina at all?

Lucky Coin sell a closed bottom turquoise case via Amazon. (Although they call it navy but it’s not).

And yes, Bandwerk performance leather does not patina (at all) unless heavily forced and ruined.

This could finally be the blue Leather Case I wanted. My friend has the regular Sandmarc Navy with the Lens Kit. I don`t need the lenses but I like the color. This is real blue and not green like Andar, Bare and the others.

I just preordered it.

Thanks you for explaining what a profit center is.

Still not fully convinced about YMW crazy horse leather case in black for my SB 14 PL. Despite a really good packaging, it seems, for my taste, too much similar to Apple Leather Case than to a really good and full leather case.
