That's a good question. I think they did a great job on this from what I can tell and it should be much more easy to get consistency when it comes to fit around ports / etc by using TPU than with leather.

The sad thing I've come to realize is that I really just prefer frosted clear cases with TPU sides at this point over leather because they require so much less fuss to keep them looking good. With leather I have to worry about any magsafe charger I put it on leaving a ring and I have to worry about getting it wet.

Not gonna lie though, the black one does look clean!

I wonder if they ditched production on their normal closed-bottom case due to quality control issues and are just going forward with this Nomad-style case.

I sent them a message on Instagram asking them this exact thing and they told me that this is just another line in addition to the closed bottom. They are keeping both lines going for now.

Edit: Went ahead and used some rewards points to get it down to $50 and got it. We’ll see in about a week how it goes.

Keep us posted. Interested to hear how it is.

I think that is likely correct. Despite claims that other colour closed bottom cases are due, I reckon they'll discontinue them pretty quickly tbh - they've been terrible in terms of QC.

Last week I got a new case (Bavarian BUA) for my 15 Pro and so far I‘m pretty happy. The leather feels and smells nice. The buttons and the ring around the camera cutout are made of metal and the bottom is closed.

Got the Flex late last night, it's definitely trying to crib from the Nomad cases a bit which is fine. I'll post photos of it later but the first thought is that it's mostly fine, it has a little bit of an issue on the left side of the TPU part where I can kind of I guess "click it" into place? Not sure how to describe it but I can push the left side in a bit which is whatever.

The other thing is that sometimes the case just straight up doesn't charge on MagSafe sometimes? I don't know if it's just me or not but sometimes putting it on the puck doesn't do anything. Sometimes it works every time and others it just doesn't do anything.

I’m a fan of bullstrap but they definitely seem to struggle with new releases and QC.

Are there air bumpers inside the TPU? Or is it smooth now like Nomad?

Can anyone say something about the YMW leather cases? Especially the Latigo Horween and the vegetable tanned cowhide leather? The Latigo costs twice as much, has an open bottom and leather camera ring. Which is (feels) better? How’s the patina? Anyone with pictures maybe?

And how bad are the MagSafe marks on the YMW cases? They have a warning on their side at Ali not to use MagSafe with these cases which is kinda annoying

Been reading through the various comments in this thread (and others) and it hasn’t made the decision process any easier. If ever there was proof that people’s opinions differ greatly!

I had previously purchased two Andar Aspens for my 15 Pro and while I was initially quite impressed, it didn’t last more than a couple weeks on my phone. Ultimately, I found it too slippery, wasn’t crazy about the actual colour, and found the buttons a bit uncomfortable and protruding more than I liked. They also started to squeak while holding my phone which became annoying very quickly.

I also previously ordered a Mujjo case which is straight trash. That’s all I’ll say about that.

A few moments ago, I ordered two more cases, this time from Bullstrap. The Minimalist case and the Flex case. As with all other cases, the feedback has been all over the place so I simply need to see for myself. I’m keeping my expectations low but chalking this up to research. I always liked Apple’s leather cases but since I’ve still not found a replacement I’m happy with, and seeing as I plan to continue buying iPhones for the foreseeable future, this expensive exercise is a necessary evil. Really hoping one of the two cases from Bullstrap fits the bill and I will have found my leather case for future iPhones.

What have you been using the most since Andar and Mujjo didn't work? I actually didn't upgrade to the 15 pros, and have always been an Apple leather case user. Dont care that the newer ones have not been the same leather quality, the thinness and fit matter more to me than how it looks in a year or now 2.

Curious if I end up going to the 16 pro max what my options would be. Like you, I have tried Andar, Bullstrap, Mujjo, and Blue Bonnet and none of them worked for me. I have not tried Bullstraps newest full coverage case, but I think my complaint will still be it's to thick. Like you said a very expensive journey.

@TheBMacAttack If you like the thinness of Apple's leather cases, anything from Bullstrap will seem very thick to you. I have the mimimalist, the contemporary case, and the flex case from them and they all are quite thick. The thinnest is probably their "minimalist" case, which is their original open bottom design but even it is quite thicker than apple leather.

The flex case has probably been my favorite so far, but is also the heaviest and thickest. It would be my favorite overall case by a long shot if the TPU was better molded and significantly thinner than it is. Sadly mine had a decent number of imperfections around the screen lip and the USB-C port hole is not perfectly centered (which was an issue many others had on their closed-bottom full leather case as well).

Thanks, yeah thats what I have run into with the open bottom from them. I don't think they are the manufacture for me.
