Question for Luckycoin owners. Is it true that in many cases there is a problem with charging and speakers cutouts? Like the cutouts are misaligned or something…?
I ordered a tan and a teal when they first came out. Teal was perfect but tan was way off. I returned it and just ordered a new one a few weeks ago and allignment is good on the new one. So 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. It’s Amazon so you could really just order 3 and keep your favorite.

I have an early run LC case and it is spot on. I will be skipping the 16 also as my pattery percentage is still at 100% after 197 cycles. 😯

Sounds like most are keeping their 15s. I have a 14 pro, but I am still on the fence about the 16 pros. Would like to get a LC if I do get 16 pro. Seems like most have had a good experience.

So I ordered a LuckyCoin case based on the recommendations here to try out and compare with my Bullstrap open-bottom cases (10 month old Sienna and brand new Bourbon). I want to switch to a darker case now that will patina even darker, so the LC dark brown looked promising.

Here’s my review.

Pros:
- The price. $22 after coupon on Amazon.
- The leather is seemingly great quality for the price. It’s a tad rougher than the Bullstrap right out of the box, but I expect both brands will soften up very nicely.

Cons:
- Leather around the camera bump is not glued down properly, making it look warped. (Pictured, LC in center)
- Misaligned cutouts. YMMV it seems, but this case has this issue. (Pictured)
- Lip around front is not a consistent height. In one corner it’s flush with the screen. Couldn’t get a decent picture showing this.
- A minor personal gripe but the buttons feel sharper because there’s no raised leather bump around them as the Bullstrap has. (Pictured)

Overall thoughts: The LC has good leather considering the price, but the case is lacking in the finishing details/quality control that I’m used to. If that doesn’t bother you, or you get lucky with a case that has less issues, then I think you can’t go wrong for the price.

I’ve used Bullstrap open bottom cases for 3-4 years now, and while they’re inarguably overpriced, the QC has been great. I haven’t tried their now-discontinued closed bottom cases, so I can’t speak for those.

Despite the price, I’m sending the LC back.

That is really bad. I would return that as well. I believe it must be from a bad batch as most of us here have not had problems like the camera bump. That cutout misalignment is aweful as well.

I love my LC but I have to admit that if I received that specific case I would return it for exchange for another one. Sorry to hear you got a bad one.

I was also thinking of keeping my 15 PM for another year, but with 90% battery capacity after 260 cycles… Come on Apple…GFUS!!!
It's a crapshoot with these batteries as obviously they aren't created equal. My wife had a 12PM a few years ago and she was at 100% capacity at the 1 year mark while my regular 12Pro was at 87%. My 15PM is currently at 93% capacity at 272 cycles and I've been using the 80% charging limit since day 1, which in my opinion has been a useless option.

That's a bummer. I just received my LuckyCoin backup and the cutouts are aligned perfectly.

In terms of leather, the LuckyCoin and Ryan London open-bottom are my faves.
Haha I got an email of your OG reply with your comment about the FineWoven. Respect for liking that case, I don’t think it’s terrible. I will definitely being going the Apple route first with a new phone, but for sure checking out the LC. Seems far and away the most popular case here for the money.

lol. I edited my reply to just include leather cases. But yeah, the FW isn't perfect but it's the best-fitting case I've tried. Also, they tend to hold up better when you don't sit there and scratch your fingernail against the back of the case like every YouTuber did the first week it came out, but, i digress.

Hahaha I figured. Yes I get it. I switch between the BS and Apple leather case for my 14 pro. The BS is incredible as far as leather goes, but the thinness and fit of Apple is hard to beat. I am sure FW is the same way.

Bellroy Leather case for 15 Pro. Didn't saw many pics or views about it so here's mine if it helps anyone. I switched to it a few months ago after using the apple finewoven case. I don't really like how it turned out to be although I don't mind the feel of it. It's 100 times better than the finewoven, I just don't like how the finewoven felt or looked. This one definitely adds some bulk around the phone plus the glue around the buttons is just bad. I can tear it apart with no effort. Clickiness of buttons is good. There's also this weird hump on the magsafe area which developed over time and I don't use any magsafe accessories. TPU on the upper and lower part of the case are a bit offputting to me. Wished it was leather all around. Wouldn't recommend if someone is looking into bellroy. I'll probably switch to Ryan London or BS next time.

Looks like the leather Apple used on the 12-14.

Check out the Luckycoin. It’s basically the Bullstrap at a third the price.

This is exactly what I was gonna say. Just like the Apple leather cases. Add the TPU, and just not not an overall great case. I am still not sure way Bellroy doesn’t make the all leather case like they do with the Pixels.

Yeah that looks really similar to the Apple saddle brown 12 mini case I had. What’s funny to me is even bad leather cases are significantly better than finewoven. I hated it when the 15s came out so I returned mine within a couple days. I saw one on Amazon for $20 and decided to give it a second try. I still hated it. I honestly feel ripped off at $20 too. I tried to return it but it was only 14 days instead of the usually 30 so I’m stuck with it. The worst part to me is how sharp the cutout is around the USBc port. It digs into your pinky when holding the phone one handed and I never had that issue with the apple leather case. I’m concerned there have been no leaks about a finewoven replacement and we are less than 2 weeks out. I just can’t see them sticking with such a terrible product for another year.
Sorry for the rant.

The big question is which is worse for the environment in the long term? The process of making leather, or all the fine woven cases sitting in landfills the world over? The reality is leather is readily available and will be for as long as we eat meat. There are far larger consumers of leather ( automakers, clothing makers, etc ) than Apple so their decision to stop using leather is a relatively small drop in the bucket. Whats worse? using petrochemicals to make plastics that take thousands of years to breakdown? or treating an already existing natural product to make it more usable, beautiful, and longer lasting? I know Apple claims leather releases more carbon than recycling plastic but that only speaks to the manufacturing process... what about the longer term implications of all the plastic? Leather will eventually breakdown and biodegrade. Plastic won't do that. My two cents are leather is better now and in the future.

100% agree!
