If I’m not mistaken, both RL and BS are produced by the same manufacturer in China
I dont know about BS, but RL products are made in London.

The website talks about their workshop, eliminating ‘middlemen’ and they also have a physical store in London.

Then is it a handmade leather goods store for iPhone cases? Their cases even cost a lot more than nomad.
Yep, handmade in London (not just phone cases though, they do a range of leather goods), and the leather is of noticeably higher quality than nomad.

To me this justifies the higher price, but that is completely subjective.

It's been confirmed before from themselves, the Ryan London cases are produced in China.
The only thing made in London are the wallets, dog leads and collars.

I don’t buy this sorry. It flies in the face of what they themselves say on the website - ie ‘No middlemen’

The metal shells come from China sure, but the leatherwork is all done in house.

Even ChatGPT agrees..

They may very well use their own tannery, but core of the case is made in china. That is why you see multiple cases that look just like theirs and Bullstrap’s case.

Also, your source is ChatGPT?

Email them if you don't believe me...

There are no metal shells, they're plastic. The leather is also applied in the same factories.
Hence why their cases are pre-order - because they are awaiting stock. If they were custom orders, they'd make them as and when demand was there.

Their own website states: "leather cases DESIGNED in London".

And ChatGPT agrees?! LMAO! 😂

No actually, my source is my own eyes.

I bought an iPhone 12 case when I was in London in 2020, and while there I could see them fitting the leather onto the phone case shells.

If they’ve changed since then, the website certainly doesn’t make that clear.

4 years ago... That's not the case (no pun intended) now, like I said - email and ask!

If I was that interested, I would.

But I’m not…so I won’t 🤷‍♂️

BTW - how about you include the date of that screengrab?

…Feb 2024….

but when you were proven wrong, it didn't matter anymore

Clearly, @RRC did the research to provide an informed response.
It's somehow now not important enough now to do the research.
I don’t need to research things that I’ve seen.

I did however concede that ‘if’ things have changed, the website doesn’t state that.

If they’ve changed since then, the website certainly doesn’t make that clear.

Clearly you misunderstood the inference of my previous post.

The person quoted a screengrab without a date in an effort to prove me wrong.

I pointed out it was from 2024, four years after I saw the cases being made with my own eyes.

The same eyes I will believe every time over random internet people.

I hope that clears things up 👌

There are clearly different contexts, but in your initial post about the RL, you stated that it was still made in-house, at least with the leather applied to the shell. You didn’t mention it was the iPhone 12; rather, it seemed like you were implying that this was still the current process. That’s simply not accurate.

When someone has seen the process with their own eyes, and the website doesn’t specify that the product is now outsourced, why would someone not believe that the product is still substantially made in-house?

Do you accept the say-so of internet randoms who claim something different to what you’ve actually witnessed?

Particularly when they are so disingenuous to post a screengrab with date intentionally omitted? (Luckily it was easy to find in it’s unedited form..)

Again - I said later on ‘if they have changed since then..’

Could the 'shell cases' (plastic underlying shells) be imported, but finishing (leather work) done in London? The RL reply isn't 100% clear really.

Nope, the whole thing is manufactured overseas and shipped in bulk as per RL specifications.
OK, slightly disappointing I guess. I actually raised the issue of the buttons being different finishes and they are meant to be sending me a replacement when in stock. I said that I presume all cases made in future would have consistent buttons...
