pleaseI have a closed-bottom RL in saddle brown and a black open-bottom RL. If you’d like to see some comparisons, I can bring the closed-bottom one out from my work drawer tomorrow.

Likewise, let's see if they do use the identical leather for both. My 16 Pro closed just arrived, tempted to return it and wait for the new camera button version but who knows when that'll actually ship.Would love to see comparison pics between this one and the closed-bottom when you get it. And of course, keep us posted on how this patinas.
That looks really good to be fair!I received my RL Dark Leather (open bottom) case for my 16 Pro today. I could smell the leather before I opened the inner package.
1) I had to sign for the package.
2) Well packaged with a thank you note inside along with Ryan’s business card (classy touch).
3) Leather case smells like genuine leather is supposed to.
4) Leather case (Dark color) looks great and feels good in hand.
5) Not as thick as BS case but, that is fine with me. It is still more than enough protection.
6) FineWoven wallet produces an audible chime when attached and shows the color of the case. That is the first time that has happened to me on a non-Apple case. Another quality touch.
7) CC cut out is a lot easier to use than the BS case.
I have a closed bottom (Dark Leather) on the way for the 16 Pro. I also ordered a closed bottom (Dark Leather) for a 16 Pro Max I order today (as well).
Product quality, customer service, and product availability were all A+ in my experience. RL won me over and given how things went with BS this year, I will continue to use RL moving forward. I am glad I didn’t wait 2+ months for a BS case.
indeed! The leather quality on the RL cannot be beat. Gorgeous case. Congrats!I will definitely post pictures. I expect the other case in the next day or so. I forgot to mention the RL case a more supple feel to it versus the BS case.

It's like they are made by completely different companies.Alright, I’ve taken some pictures. Please let me know if there are any you’d like me to include. Here are my thoughts:
First, the buttons on the closed bottom are significantly lower quality compared to the ones on the open bottom. They feel like they’re glued on, and I can even stick my fingernail under the very edge of a few of them.
Second, the open bottom is thinner than the closed bottom. The pictures confirm this to me. I believe it gives the device a too-thick screen lip.
Lastly, I think the CC cutout is larger on the open bottom of that matters to you.
As for the leather, they’re quite similar in quality. However, I’d give the edge to the open bottom because it feels slightly more premium.

They are to an extent. The tanning of the leather is the same, but the shells of the cases differ significantly in design. The closed bottom closely resembles the Andar Aspen. The buttons have the same poor quality control, and the metal camera cutout is identical. The main difference lies in the cutouts for the CC. I think I mentioned this before, but the open-bottom cases are a priority for RL. They ensure the highest quality for those. While the closed bottom is decent, it does not meet the standards of the open-bottom cases. It's like they are made by completely different companies.
Yeah that’s totally normal. My Luckycoin has that. As did my old Bullstrap, Nomad and a Decoded I had before.Got my RL Black leather case yesterday. Overall, I really like it. But, I was wondering. Is it normal to have this much waviness and non-uniformity in the leather? Obviously, I know that leather is a natural product, so some variation is to be expected, but I was wondering if this is normal.
Had to take the pic with my webcam.
It looks very similar to mine. Take a look at the photos above. Good leather is not uniform.Got my RL Black leather case yesterday. Overall, I really like it. But, I was wondering. The thing is I like the style of the RL open bottom case, but would prefer the same style in closed bottom. So basically that leaves me with BS I guess. They are to an extent. That is what the images suggest, but we have not seen the closed bottom cases yet. Perhaps when they are finally released, they will be just that. The thing is I like the style of the RL open bottom case, but would prefer the same style in closed bottom. So basically that leaves me with BS I guess.
I use the Twelve South stand and worried I would knock the open bottom of my iPhone on the top of my watch as the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max doesn't leave much space between the two.
Are you talking about the circle that appears on the iPhone screen when anDoes anyone here use a leather case with MagSafe? Do you get a circle showing on the case on saddle brown cases?
No, he’s talking about the magnet imprint on the case itself. Are you talking about the circle that appears on the iPhone screen when anMagSafe case is installed on the iPhone?
Yeah, this. I was wondering if RL / BS saddle brown / Sienna leave circles. No, he’s talking about the magnet imprint on the case itself.
Some cases leave imprints/marks due to the heat
Apple's MagSafe technology uses magnets embedded in the case to securely attach your iPhone to chargers and other accessories. The strength of the magnetic attraction depends on the thickness of the magnets. Some magnets are exposed, so they could fall off or stick to the iPhone. The effect is more pronounced with stronger magnets, which can even allow your iPhone to stick to metal surfaces and refrigerators. No, he’s talking about the magnet imprint on the case itself.

Yep. Happens to my black leather cases as I charge magsafe every night.Does anyone here use a leather case with MagSafe? Do you get a circle showing on the case on saddle brown cases?
I've often thought about getting a 3 in 1 charging station for my nightstand, but the I'd hate to see a MagSafe ring develop on my 3-yr old BS case (on my 13P). The patina is too good to risk ruining now.Almost every leather case I’ve ever used develops a ring after daily use of MagSafe. It’s a natural part of the leather’s patina with MagSafe use.

I agree it depends how strong the magnetic attraction is on the MagSafe rings. If it can stick your iPhone to a metal plate or table then it is likely a ring can develop on the surface of the case.I don’t think it ruins it.
OK, good to know, thanks.Almost every leather case I’ve ever used develops a ring after daily use of MagSafe. It’s a natural part of the leather’s patina with MagSafe use.
