Likewise, let's see if they do use the identical leather for both. My 16 Pro closed just arrived, tempted to return it and wait for the new camera button version but who knows when that'll actually ship.

I can already tell you without sending any pictures that the leather to me feels exactly the same on both on both the open and closed bottom cases.
Alright, I’ve taken some pictures. Please let me know if there are any you’d like me to include. Here are my thoughts:
First, the buttons on the closed bottom are significantly lower quality compared to the ones on the open bottom. They feel like they’re glued on, and I can even stick my fingernail under the very edge of a few of them.
Second, the open bottom is thinner than the closed bottom. The pictures confirm this to me. I believe it gives the device a too-thick screen lip.
Lastly, I think the CC cutout is larger on the open bottom of that matters to you.

They are to an extent. The tanning of the leather is the same, but the shells of the cases differ significantly in design. The closed bottom closely resembles the Andar Aspen. The buttons have the same poor quality control, and the metal camera cutout is identical. The main difference lies in the cutouts for the CC. I think I mentioned this before, but the open-bottom cases are a priority for RL. They ensure the highest quality for those. While the closed bottom is decent, it does not meet the standards of the open-bottom cases.
Got my RL Black leather case yesterday. Overall, I really like it. But, I was wondering. Is it normal to have this much waviness and non-uniformity in the leather? Obviously, I know that leather is a natural product, so some variation is to be expected, but I was wondering if this is normal.

Yeah that’s totally normal. My Luckycoin has that. As did my old Bullstrap, Nomad and a Decoded I had before.
It looks very similar to mine. Take a look at the photos above. Good leather is not uniform.
The thing is I like the style of the RL open bottom case, but would prefer the same style in closed bottom. So basically that leaves me with BS I guess.
I use the Twelve South stand and worried I would knock the open bottom of my iPhone on the top of my watch as the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max doesn't leave much space between the two.
That is what the images suggest, but we have not seen the closed bottom cases yet. Perhaps when they are finally released, they will be just that.
It may cost me in the future, but I have been using open bottom cases since the iPhone 6 days, when Apple first introduced the open bottom leather case. I have never had an issue, and I love the easy access to the phone's bottom. I couldn't switch back to a closed bottom case unless it were a very thin case from Apple.
I will add, I wouldn't hold my breath for BS. They have let us down more times than we can count.

Some cases leave imprints/marks due to the heat
I have the BS Ocean and the mark is only visible in certain light where it has a bit of a sheen. Not sure if it would be different for lighter variants.
Apple's MagSafe technology uses magnets embedded in the case to securely attach your iPhone to chargers and other accessories. Almost every leather case I’ve ever used develops a ring after daily use of MagSafe. It’s a natural part of the leather’s patina with MagSafe use.
Yep. Happens to my black leather cases as I charge magsafe every night.
I've often thought about getting a 3 in 1 charging station for my nightstand, but the I'd hate to see a MagSafe ring develop on my 3-yr old BS case (on my 13P). The patina is too good to risk ruining now.
I agree it depends how strong the magnetic attraction is on the MagSafe rings. If it can stick your iPhone to a metal plate or table then it is likely a ring can develop on the surface of the case.
