Cant people at least wait 10 years after someone's death before making a movie about them. I think it is too soon to be making a movie about him.

Good... rubbish actor! Teen heart throb in Romeo and Juliet (and maybe Titanic, never saw it). Then he got fat/grew a beard so that clubs stopped asking him for ID. People started to realise he can't act and should start hanging out with Macaulay Culkin.

Really? People hating DiCaprio?

  • The Wolf of Wall Street
  • The Great Gatsby
  • Django Unchained
  • Inception
  • Shutter Island
  • Blood Diamond
  • Departed
  • Aviator
  • Catch Me If You Can

Sorry, but most of the movies he was in were just awesome, playing very different characters. So get over that Titanic ******** that still comes to your minds when his name is dropped. I'm pretty sure he would have done an awesome job.
You only have to look at that list to realise he is one of the best actors on the planet. I'm surprised by some of the hate for him here, obviously not film fans.

Yes they are both great actors. Top Gun and The Departed are two of my favorite movies.

I just don't like Leo's stance on global climate crisis. He tells us to change yet he has how many cars? A yacht. A mansion. And all the other toys... IF you want to preach at least set an example. I like that he stood in front and spoke to the members that it's a human and not political thing to do. But don't be another Al Gore.

He also owns the Venturi Racing Formula E team, a founding member of the first professional all electric racing series.

Nothing is black and white. I'm sure it would be very easy for people to judge you from afar based on isolated facts about your life as well... :(

Yes. This.

These forums have been going steadily downhill. People spew so much hate around the web in general, but MacRumors used to be one of the few sites I visit that seemed to be above all that. (Maybe I was just reading the right threads.)
If I wanted to read bitchy comments about actors I'd go somewhere like perez hilton, or the like.

I think I'm going to have to resort to reading the articles and not reading any of the comments from now on. :(

DDL or Christian Bale. Agreed 1000%

I dont know why nobody is at least throwing out the name of the man with 3 Oscars who is a Top 3 actor alive.

He's around the same age, height, and build as Jobs and looks close enough, definitely closer than anyone else named.

why are so many people against the movie in particular after sorkin's work on the Facebook movie.

Objectively speaking, Leo is one of the better and more versatile actors of the last 15 years.

A lot of people on the internet like to say that Leonardo DiCaprio keeps getting snubbed by the Oscars. IMO he is good but not a great actor. When watching him act, I don't get lost in the characters. I am always aware the entire time that it's Leo pretending to be someone else (ex: Django) or he seems to be playing himself (ex: Wolves of Wall Street).

DiCaprio has always struck me as a poor man's River Phoenix. He showed potential in "What's eating Gilbert Grape" and "Basketball Diaries". After that and the success of "Romeo + Juliet" & "Titanic", I think it went to his head. He hung out with other douchebag womanizing actors and believed his own hype. The roles he took seemed to be for the purpose of trying to prove he's a great actor instead of doing it for the art of film making. The only roles he takes on are for major studio releases and blockbusters.

On another note, I loved Trainspotting but haven't really cared for much of what Danny Boyle has done since. I'm disappointed that David Fincher isn't going to direct this. No matter what happens, I don't think it could be any worse than Kutcher's "Jobs" though. Whoever takes the role will likely receive an Oscar nomination just based on comparing their performance to Kutcher's.

Why

Why is Hollywood trying to cash in on Steve Job's. As exciting as Apple's rise to fame was (and infamy) in reality the Steve Jobs' story has been told over and over again in various forms, from TV documentaries to miniseries and there already was a "failed" Hollywood release. This is not one of those things that they need to keep doing until they get it right, its been done, time to move on.

The only way to make an exciting Hollywood movie is to basically lie about his life and exaggerate his tantrums, all do a disservice to his memory.

Let the man rest in peace.

Yeah, Hollywood. Do we really need ANOTHER Jobs biopic, of which there has been exactly one, which starred that incredible paragon of acting talent, Ashton Kutcher?

There's been a a few more videos & films about him recently, including "Jobs (2013)", which you already noted, we also have:

iSteve (Justin Long, 2013)
Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999)
Steve Jobs - Consciously Genius: Unauthorized Documentary (2012)
Steve Jobs "The Lost Interview" (2012) - which actually screened at a few movie theaters
Steve Jobs: Visionary Genius (2012)
Steve Jobs: One Last Thing, PBS (2011)
60 Minutes - Steve Jobs (2011)

All but one in the last 3 years. That's a lot in such a short time span. I'm sorry that you don't understand why there might be a bit of a Jobs video/movie fatigue going around, but I think it might be real, even if this particular project is probably going to be relatively definitive.

Perhaps I'm the only one, but I though Lee Pace played a good Jobseque character in Halt and Catch Fire? I vote him, not one these A-list action stars. They're not filming The Departed!

Pop a bow tie on him for 1984 and a turtle neck on him for everything else and I think he'd do it justice.

I absolutely loved Halt & Catch Fire.

Amazing writer maybe however we all know the script already.

No, you really don't. You know the general plot. You don't know the dialogue, individual character moments....

He should have won the Oscar for The Wolf of Wall Street.

Boyle? Danny?! Oh *****! I pissed my pants. The best non-authorish director in the movie industry since camera obscura is going to direct movie about Apple? That's my wet dream.

Why the best thing he did was on British TV 20 years ago, his films are a pile of *****.

Actually you are right. Danny Boyle is perfect, he is so self-absorbed he would get Jobs perfectly.

A relative newcomer who might be an interesting choice would be Adam Driver. He's currently filming and starring in Star Wars VII... and yes, he also appears in the annoying HBO sitcom Girls... But... he has the right look and he's a good actor.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3485845/?ref_=tt_cl_t4

But... I also like Christian Bale, who would give the role 110%.

Thank god... Steve Jobs on the big screen is getting old and played out. DiCaprio is too good to waste his talents on a tired theme. I want to see him in something that's... You know... Good.

I'm sure many low budget, filler movies in a subject come out every year. Literally one of those movies can be considered a feature film. Just because a bunch ****** studios try and capitalize on a subject does not mean that anyone has to either see them, nor does it mean that proper due is given to the subject.

Also, I'm not sure you understand what the word "biopic" means.

----------

Fair enough. I didn't know the background, I just assumed it was another Steve Jobs movies.

Perhaps you should educate yourself on a topic before commenting on it. What an idea.

----------

Don't forget this one:

... Which did not come out of Hollywood. I don't care about a "YouTube only" "movie".

Has to be Bale.
Unofficially confirmed to be Robert Carradine.

Hollywood is currently in reboot EVERYTHING mode because they can't create anything new worth of releasing. They also probably figure that having SJ on the name of the movie will get rabid Apple fanatics to watch it regardless how bad(train wreck theory) the movie may be.

Didn'T work of the Kuchter movie so that blows that theory out of the water. The movie will actually have to be good for people to go and see it.
