To be honest, the iPhone excuse sounds like a cop out.

Im not too bothered though. I can wait to October, as can everyone else. Im still excited that it will pretty much be shown in full in June.

Four months is a long time. It makes me think twice about buying the next iMac as soon as it comes out even though the money has been burning a hole in my pocket since January. :(

wow...

this really disturbs me. For all of their posturing against MS for their problems, Apple just pulled a card straight from the microsoft handbook. I say shame on Apple, they have severly bruised a very loyal customers confidence. You can't have it both ways and Apple is trying to do just that. I am a little less loyal to Cupertino today. Say what you will but this is a bad day in Apple history. MS is going to eat this up, just you watch. And they have lots and lots of money to create some serious heat for the OS wars.

This news of the delay along with blatant disregard for disclosure by "wannabe" developers that pay $500 just to see the different builds then show them off on sites like MacRumors has produced a bad Apple taste in me.

Alright, sounds good to me. I don't know where you're getting that anyone in this thread with an ADC membership is a wannabe developer. Yes, somebody posted screenshots but it didn't kill you now did it? Why get all uppity about it?

Because developers respect the NDA..I sat around with my Dev kit when Apple switched to intel only to watch those people that pay $500 JUST to see whats new without contributing anything to the developement then post bittorrents, screen captures and work arounds to have it run on a non-Apple machine.

That ticks me off.

If you can't respect that then it's your problem not mine.

If you look at the list of bugs, they are OS X application feature bugs, not framework and library bugs. iChat doesn't have to be bug free in order for you to test your app against Leopard's core frameworks, libraries and OS system calls. And yes, I know how software is developed. I've been in the computer business in one technical role or another for nearly 34 years. How about you?

I know how software development works and I'm quite familiar with the architecture of OS X and therefore, I have no idea what you're going on about. It's not only entirely possible that Apple is plucking out secret features prior to seeding but also quite likely. That would be even more plausible should that particular feature be a stand-alone app like Automator or (less transparently) Dashboard.

A developer wouldn't need something like Automator or Dashboard present to test their apps. But, the not-so-careful removal of something like that would probably cause a list of weird bugs that appear to never get fixed.

To my way of thinking, the closer we get to June with these kinds of bugs still not addressed, the more likely it seems that's the case.

I suspect that when Apple is ready to go, they'll likely to a public presentation of the secret features of OS X and then seed a candidate build to developers so they can stomp any last-minute issues those things might cause... or not--remember, we're talking a x.0 release. It's sort of a given that there will be issues.

instead of picking apart your clearly uninformed opinions on software development (trust me, real developers are laughing at the naivete of the two posts above), allow me to simply say - i told you so, there's a long list of bugs, because the OS isn't done, not because there's some machiavellian scheme to dupe developers and bit torrent sites with fake builds.

Sheesh, all you doubters -- if you can't trust an anonymous poster on an Internet forum, who can you trust?

Leopard is for some reason producing dithered screenshots, and I also had to convert to JPEG in order to get through the MacRumors 244KB attachment limitation. So I apologize for the screenshot quality, but hopefully this will convince you I am telling the truth.

where are the SPACES and TIME MACHINE icon's in the dock, I didn't think they were removable, or are they just not available in this release?

I find it deeply amusing that someone in an Apple rumors forum is chastising me for providing information. You do realize that if nobody ever broke NDA or provided inside information, this site wouldn't have anything to report on?

Oh, and to answer your question: Yes, I enjoyed it very much, thank you for asking.

I have to side with Peace on this. You've knowingly violated your NDA. Not cool.

I sent you a PM, I'd suggest you take the advice in it.

:apple:

If you can't respect that then it's your problem not mine.

If it's not your problem, why do you complain about it so much?

Bottom line: People are going to lie, pirate, steal, etc. and whining about it doesn't stop it.

screenshots

I don't think one should be so hard on those who posted a screenshot.
NDA, maybe, but there were a lot of voices around that asked for screenshots, not to do anything harmful with, but because everyone is so exited about leopard, and want to see where it stands, what it looks like etc.
Principles and code's of conduct aside, this screenshot is hardly going to harm Apple, it only confirms a wish that many of us were hoping for, a more consistent look. If this will be the final look remains to be seen, but at least it's a hint. I think the announcement to delay Leopard will do more damage in the short term.
Anyway:This site is for people who are enthusiasts for anything and everything Apple, not to harm Apple, we are all curious about leopard, and not all of us have the resources or the knowledge to start downloading dev seeds and experiment with an "unreleased" OS, as the concequences are unknown, however remote.
Let's lighten up a little and enjoy Macs and everything around it.

You have always been able to remove time machine and spaces from the dock since the first beta release. It acts just like Dashboard, right click and select remove from dock.

actually, it's $99 if they are student developers. :D :p

but I actually agree with you a little bit, at least about posting them to the torrents.

Shoot, I missed the screenshots by a few hours...

You seem to have a habit of that recently. Unfortunately this time i didn't make a copy, thought about it but went and made lots and lots of bacon instead.

Nothing special, kind of like Uno just darker. Mail didn't look that good IMHO.

Edit: Hey Zwhaler new front page article or thread has the pictures.

There is a very nice new screensaver.

Seems to me like they're preping for a new Unified look. Not exactly iTunes 7, tho. More like iTunes 6, or an Aqua version of 7.

I imagine it will be like iTunes 7, they just haven't gotten arount to replacing the aqua GUI elements yet.

I have done software development and you're being very condescending for no reason. I have no idea why you think being a developer means you are the be-all end-all here. How about instead of making ad hominem attacks, you explain your point of view because, thus far, you've done nothing other than hint around at some credentials that apparently allow you to have the final word and talk down to others. I have seen nothing to support your position.

BTW, just because Leopard has been delayed doesn't prove your position at all. It seems a pretty reasonable assumption that there are some features being ripped out of or kept separate from the developer seeds. And it seems a reasonable assumption that some of the bugs we see on the list may be a side effect of that.

If you have some rational, reasonable things to say counter to that, I'm all ears. If you just want to keep citing your credentials and beating your chest, then nobody is interested.
