Maybe, but if Amazon mess up I'll have to go to the Apple store instead.

Was concerned that I'd be getting 2 copies if I left the 2 orders open much longer.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I think I can sell on a copy to my friend if I receive two. After all, I convinced him to buy my PC in February when I bought my first Mac and then a month later, I convinced him to sell said PC and buy a Mac. I'm a salesman by day, and a salesman by night! :)

My order now from the Australian store says Prepared for shipment-for real this time (did on Monday, but was changed later in the day).

I even transcribed the status onto my Sony ICD-B500 notetaker (great little recorder for reminding me about things like Apple orders).

TNT seems to have quick shipping to the Gold Coast (packages are shipped from Sydney)-often the next day.

That's kind of weird. But makes sense under this scenario: Did you order like right when they put it up for pre-order? Because Apple's normal free shipping is two-day, but it's not a guaranteed service. I was going to, but got called away and didn't get back to my computer until the next day; by then my shipping method was priority overnight, a guaranteed service, which should mean ship Thursday for delivery by mid-afternoon Friday.

So it's possible the first orders taken were set up for normal 2-day free shipping when they should have gotten priority overnight as a special case for Leopard. Ergo, they can ship it today so you get it Friday. But since it's not a guaranteed transit time, they really can't, as FedEx can drop it next Monday, or Saturday at their discretion, and still fit the terms of service. Then you're mad. So Apple took the orders that accidentally got 2-day service and shipped them yesterday, figuring 3 days max transit is a safe bet -- it almost always is -- but you will almost surely get it in 2 days, and of course that's Thursday.

If I'm right, it's the benefit you get from ordering before they have all their ducks in a row! ;-)

Oh, edit: I remember this happened with people who pre-ordered Tiger in the first half day or so. They got it a day early.

I bit the bullet and cancelled the Apple UK Store order (still dowing shipping on 26th) and left my Amazon order with express delivery which is allegedly dispatching today for delivery tomorrow!

Costing me about £18 more but not the end of the world - as long as it arrives!

It's supposed to *arrive* on the 26th. My order says, "Ships by: DELIVERS ON OCTOBER 26TH" although it's slated for priority overnight, that just means they can ship it anyway they please so long as they meet their promise that it arrives on the 26th. Are you *sure* your order wasn't phrased that way. I called Apple before I ordered to see if it was going to *ship* on the 26th or *arrive* on the 26th. For the first whole day they clueless, and told me ship on the 26th, but then they finally got the memo or whatever. Plus my order has always said "DELIVERS ON OCTOBER 26TH"

Yeah, prepared for shipment here too...

Has anyone else noticed an increase of TNT lorries around london - I'm sure i've seen about 5 or 6 in the last day...

Surely not..... could it be?

Deep Joy - I obviously should have held off cancelling!! Ho Hum.

Welcome if Amazon let me down, I'll be off to the Trafford Centre on Friday evening (once all the crowds of great unwashed have dispersed of course!)

Apple retail stores in the UK are likely to receive copies tomorrow or Friday, so I *imagine* UK users can expect the same service. I would *imagine* pre-orders via the on-line store are just as important to Apple as getting stock to retail stores to sell to *potential* customers. We've committed our money, so I'd like to think we're as, if not more, important to them.

The next 24 hours will probably make everything crystal clear, and it will be an agonising wait to be honest.

You would have a different opinion if you had pre ordered the ipod touch, especially in the UK.

I get EPP (Employee Purchase Programm) discount at the Apple online store :D

And like Dave187 already said, TNT is the delivery service for germany. All my Apple orders were delivered by them.

Lucky. :(

I can get a discount like that on Microsoft office products.

Office 2007 enterprise (windows)
Office 2004 for mac...yada yada yada

all I would have to pay is shipping and handling. But do I really want a microsoft product on my macbook? I think NOT! lol

How? I did. I received mine on the day they said I would on the website...

The website didn't say retail stores wouldn't get them first, it also didn't say I had all priority. It said I would have it by the 26th of September, and I did...

Was just wondering what the delivery status was for people in the UK who are using the Up-To-Date offer?

Mine says its being shipped on 26th for delivery 29/30th

Oh yes the joy of TNT Bristol depot, who could not be assed to get the touch's out to customers as it was deemed to be a customer rather than business delivery and therefore low priority, and they did not have the resources to ship out on the day that they received them at the depot.

woohoo! Mine has shipped early this morning and will be delivered on the 25th!
