And the ability to hold as many texts as your 4 or 8GB flash drive allows you.

I'd like the ability to use AirTunes with my iPhone/iPod Touch. I think that would be an awesome feature and I can't see why it couldn't be implemented.

Here is a thought on text Cut/Paste, based on how I have my macbook pro's track pad setup. You know how if you hold down your finger on the iPhone it will show a magnifying glass to help in positioning the cursor? Since you are probably already holding the phone in one hand using the other to move the glass, have it detect if your thumb touches the bottom of the screen while you are moving the cursor (since it has multi-touch) and that would cause it to then highlight the letters under the cursor instead of just moving the cursor. Then you let go and the text is highlighted. Next you hold your finger on the highlighted text and it will show a popup that allows you to Copy / Cut / Paste (this part is how the Windows Mobile works).

What good will a gesture pad be with context menus. In the good old fingerworks days you copied things by selecting and doing a "pinch" movement with a finger and the thumb. Pasting with the reverse movement. Worked really well.

What do you mean by this?

You can skip to the next song by double clicking on your iPhone's earphones mic-button, as well as with some 3rd party ones.

I just got my iphone a couple of days ago... There's an earphones mic button?

Please expalin

There is a rectangular thing on the right earbud line. That is the mic/button. It does thing depending on if you are in a call or listening to music. Other than play/pause/skip song, I forget what exactly.

Press it once and you pause/play whatever you are listengin/seeing in you iPod.
Press it twice and you'll advance to the next song/video.

The white thing on your right side earbud that has a tiny hole (mic).
press it with your tw fingers like squeezing it.

Check on apple's website for videos with all the features and fucntions on your iPhone if you want to know more tips.

just me

I haven't read all the posts just yet, but I am so excited about my new iPhone that I just got yesterday - it is a beautiful machine!

Here is what I want on my iPhone:
1.) flash video
2.) pdf reader
3.) sync to palm desktop (so I can throw my palm m130 away...)
4.) non web-based apps - I don't see myself using them :)

oh yeah, and
5.) custom ringtones!

ok, so here is the list of things I would like.

A better SMS interface, tapping each one would show a "more info" screen. So I can see it's timestamp and have the option to delete it.

Mms

Copy and paste

Ichat/bonjour

Landscape mode for any app.

Allow me to chose which way the screen rotates. Youtube is ccw but I hold my iPhone cw. The I hold it keeps the speaker uncovered and lets me keep one finger on the volume switch.

Allow me to turn off the auto switch of landscape and portrait modes.

Hold down the home button to activate camera, let go to snap a shot. It will be great to take a quick shot without having to wait.

Remote control of iTunes, display album artwork and controls on the iphone. Stream low fi music. (I won't ask for video until we get 802.11n on the iPhone)

Notes should sync with sticky notes in osx. So I can have a little post it for a reminder.

Allow me to remove apps and keyboards through iTunes to save space, it will be more useful when the sdk hits.

Custom keyboard!!! I use dvorak. And it would really help in faster typing on the iPhone

tapping the address bar in safari gives you a search bar and the address bar. The magnifying glass on the left should be used for another feature. Tap it and see a full page view, tap anywhere on that page and it will zoom in to that spot. It will help with long web pages when you need to get to the bottom.

So get cracking apple!

Exactly. Atleast you can post this here without it being deleted.

Is it even possible, with some sort of software with the new SDK, to use my bluetooth GPS adapter? For some reason I thought that the iPhone's bluetooth wouldn't be able to use something like that no matter what software is released

Correct me someone if I am wrong, but I do not believe the hardware is present for this.

iPod and iPhone as Remote Controle

I'd love to see the iPod Touch and iPhone to be used as a remote control for your home iTunes.

I run a central shared iTunes at home that i can control from every Mac I have. Meaning playing the same music through out the house by a click from either my macbook or my iMac in the study.

Why not make it shared iTunes accessible to the iPod Touch and/or iPhone? ... i have one of them with me all the time and i don't need to get out of my chair when i'd like to skip a song.

Sounds like an idea - no?

Marco

I don't know if this has been mentioned before bit I would love it if, when texting, you could turn the screen into landscape mode and type the SMS in landscape mode. It would save me loads of time and be much easier and faster to use!

Mms

that's a good idea, but it would be kind of hard to clip a song on the iPhone..

I was thinking, for copy/paste... you put the cursor somewhere, then at the bottom of the screen there will be a highlight button, first push starts the highlighting, you place the cursor where you want it to end, press the highlight button again, and the selection is highlighted.

Then, to copy/paste, there will be another button... the copy/paste button. This will take the selection and allow you to obviously copy and paste it. I would think maybe the flip up corner would be useful for these additional buttons and features just like the new button additions 1.1.3 saw in the Maps feature.

Figured this is the easiest way because obviously holding and dragging the cursor just magnifies and moves it, so the button is essential without getting into too many complicated touch techniques I'm seeing people suggest.

Thoughts?
