here is my list. i do not currently own an iphone but i do plan on purchasing one in the very near future. i do own an ipod touch so i know most of the software problems.

-HIGHER CAPACITY! 8 gb is not enough for me. i need at least 32 gb.
-landscape mode in all of the apps, ESPECIALLY SMS!
-iChat!
-Video capture
-Video/Picture messaging

so far that is all i can think of. :D:apple::D

I would like to ability to see how long a call lasted. That would be nice. I would also like a profile type ability. So I can set my phone to turn on and off at certain times, and to have settings for various situations.

Video/Picture messaging would be great...it'd be a step closer to video conferencing
a Flash for the camera also

Clock "radio"?

I wish I could choose to wake up to music on my song-list. It seems like that wouldn't be so hard to do...

I'm a PC user, so my wishlist is biased towards the PC side.

Google Calendar Sync, either OTA or when docked. Sure, there's a nice iPhone-friendly Google Calendar, but it's not as clean as the built-in calendar on the iPhone.

Contact sync with services other than Yahoo! and Outlook. I don't use either, but I had to import my address book into Yahoo! just to have a central contacts database not stored on my computer. .Mac? Google?

An easy way to scroll to the bottom on a long web page without constant flicking, which I've found crashes Safari pretty frequently.

Bookmarks sync with...Safari on the PC. Seriously, Apple, WTF? You won't even sync with your own browser? I use Firefox (OK, Flock, actually, but the bookmarks file is identical) and installed Safari because I thought I could export my bookmarks and then sync. Sigh, no such luck. IE only.

Everyone and their mother has listed them, but video recording with the capability for MMS or emailing videos (heck, or even integrated upload to YouTube, which would rock), Bluetooth tethering to laptops (or even just MacBooks/Pros), stereo BlueTooth wireless headphone support.

Sigh...as much as I hate to say it, Exchange support. Here's hoping the SDK brings something.

Bluetooth

Less taps to enable/disable BT. When I am in the car, I need it on for hands free control. When I leave the car I need to turn if off to minimize batter drain. Since it is used so frequently, tapping through four screens is excessive. I would like to just tap the BT icon on the home screen.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A93 Safari/419.3)

Make all the icons on the top clickable. That would be great.

-Wireless Satlelite Radio
-Listen to iTunes radio stations wirelessly
-Homebrew apps legaly
-More applications
-Watch videos on your WiFi networked computers without loading them on the iPhone
-Bluetooth (A2DP)
-Voice activated song control
-I cant think of more right now, only because i am sopposed to think of them.

Contacts (phone):
I have a couple hundred contacts, and you choose them by scrolling? Lame! It needs a search similar to itunes search. I want to type in bob and have all my bobs' listed. The problem occurs when I want to call a Bob that I can picture in my head, but I can't remember his last name. And all of the contacts are listed by last name. Seems simple enough, search please.

You can fix that by going into the phone settings and changing the sort to "First, Last"

I'd like to be able to save images from online accounts like Flickr & Picasa, to edit iPod information such as the song titles, including the ability to delete tracks directly from the iPod without needing to go into iTunes. Copy/Paste as everyone else has said. Looking forward to Flash. Push Email is huge for me. I hate having to check it myself, and I mean that for both gmail and outlook. iChat would be huge as these web-based apps just aren't cutting it. Photobooth would be fun also. Lastly, better battery life. I just got the new 16Gb & I'm not terribly happy with its battery life.

Contact Coverflow

The ability to use Coverflow for your Contacts: browsing your contacts by flickable pictures instead of by name

Needs improvement

Sound when trying to hear a phone call is terrible!

Should be able to delete a single call or single text message without having to clear the whole list.

Lots of good upgrade suggestions in this thread. I'd like to reiterate the following:

-One inbox for all e-mail accounts.
-Mass deletion
-Period & Comma on main keyboard
-Louder volume system-wide
-Ability to send multiple SMS
-Ability to add/edit contacts
-BCC field on e-mail

+ lots more!

Iphone Wish List

iPhone needs :

>Flash Support:i visit lots of web sites with flash and i would love if iphone had the suppot and when apple said you have the entire web in your pocket they were lying !!!!

>Landscape mode for every app:i find it really annoying that some apps display in landscape and others don't especialy the ones that require a lot of typing like notes and other apps that need the space to display picture like google maps

>A zoom feature in the camera app:i would be really nice to be able to zoom in to objects when taking pics with my iphone

>WIFI sycing with my MBA: that would be amazing it i didn't have too plug in my iphone every time i needed to add a movie or podcast

>Games on iphone that don't require safari : i would be great to play games on the iphone without a internet connection

>Abilty to email photo without going to the photo first before the email.

>And last but not least make the speaker louded: make the speaker louder and make the speaker in the phone app louder and clearer.

As others wish.....

Louder
Different Ring tones
Ability to change ring tones for calender events!!!!!

Thanks
Michael

iPod (ie. music playback) crashes often for me when I try to listen to music while while using Safari. I haven't seen anyone else reporting this though, so maybe it's just me?

It does it to me as well. The sad thing is the most visited site on my iPhone is here...

Let's dream a little bit, ok?

A Business-iPhone with
- 3G
- Push e-Mail from Mac OS X Server + Exchange Server
- Push sync calendar from Mac OS X Server + Exchange Server
- GPS
- a “To Do-List”-function
- editable Office-documents
- >4h-battery life

Simply that. Steve, that's a mandate! ;)

After a couple of days with my iPhone my list of would likes is:

Multiple colour coded calendars aka iCal
Todo list
Video recording capability in the camera
Ability to delete individual SMS messages
Multiple email deletion
Flash support in safari
BCC on email
Adium!

Am sure there will be other things as time goes on

Yes you can.

Can we download our visual voicemails to the computer? I would definitely love that feature.

The iPhone app VoiceNotes written by Erica Sadun has this option. You can select any visual voicemail and email the file as an attachment to your system.

I've had a few voicemails i've wanted backed up and this is the prefect solution.

Oh yeah, two things I forgot:

The ability to view powerpoint documents
Ability to select (for mass deletion), copy and paste text

Dear Jim, can you fix it for us...

After choosing which polo neck and jean combination to wear, Steve left for work through his personal warp field (it distorts reality, n'est pas?). At work, he sees a small list of features that somehow in haste, they forgot from the iPhone:

Holy crap man, just by a laptop.

Holy crap man, just by a laptop.

The above was a compilation of most of the suggestions from the 14 pages of this thread. You make a valid point. After compiling them, the iPhone team had there work cut out! (And after reading the Wired article chronicling the rush to get the iPhone working in time, even more so).

Internet in your pocket? Here at macrumors we want a laptop in our pocket.
