I'm not sure about this Enterprise ready title. I'm sure its listed, but isn't it kinda stupid not to have these?

1. To Do's
2. Global Search
3. Copy & Paste
4. Sync Notes

Unless its hidden somewhere in there, I don't see it coming for 2.0. What business guy would seriously consider using the iPhone without standard business use?

That is pretty much my list.

Notes are not far off useless without being able to sync them to my mac. I spent ages trying to work out how to sync them when I first got my iPhone as I couldn't believe there wasnt a way to do it, especially now mail has notes and todo's in it. In the same manner I can't believe they don't have a syncing todo list that works with the one in Mail. Hoping at least someone might write one with the new app store coming out.

Copy and Paste....cant being to count how often I have wanted to use that!

Other things I would like:

1)MMS - as might have been mentioned by others
2)Ability to record Video - even crap quality
3)Ability to store data on the ipod - it would be very handy if I could store documents on it, both to save me having to carry around a data stick and also so that I could read documents without having to email them to myself.
4)Flash

I don't know if this has been posted by other people or not
but the iPhone and iPod Touch NEED Flash Player...
Flash Player on both iPhone and iPod Touch would be the greatest thing ever :)

A call timer that you can go back and see how long each of your call were.

Silent ring. Not just a blank ring tone. Id like to see it as a three way switch on the side. <ring, vibrate, and silent>

In the wwdc 08 keynote, jobs showed a page loading on wi-fi and 3g. the page was National geographic. The page requires flash to load, so how was the demonstration done?

The page was actually lonelyplanet.com :p

But you are right, the page houses flash elements and these loaded on the demonstration.

Maybe, just maybe, flash support is coming in software v2.0.
I'll say again, I honestly don't think we've seen the full feature-set of 2.0 yet. Not by a mile.

Don't get your hopes up, try going there on the current iPhone. Everything loads even the flash stuff (although it doesn't actually run, it looks like it is).

Why would you want a version of this without a camera? and I would like to see flash support, or at least a way to view any video on a website like tapping and holding and then have it convert it on the fly :D . Then also support to make/edit/save Microsoft Word documents, it would make typing on the go much easier instead of notepad..Like have the notepad icon then choose what format to save it in or just a full App of Word..or Word Lite.
Also to be able to record video, and to be able to use Ichat. And is it just me or does anyone else really want to play mario on the Iphone?

Mario on the iPhone would be the greatest thing in the world :D

Not everyone works in a place that allows camera phones due to not having any sensitive information around. (READ: open secret facilities frown very seriously on camera phones, but you can bring a cell phone in if it didn't have one)

NO wireless syncing for iPhone

There will be no wireless syncing for the iPhone.

Think about it. With the introduction of MobileMe, it's basically like wireless syncing for contacts, calendars etc... and wireless networks are still to slow to deal with transferring music and videos.

If Apple allowed for wireless syncing over wifi, let alone the cell network, no one would bother with a $99/year subscription to MobileMe.

Are there no other business users out there?

I posted this elsewhere already but it seems appropos here too:

:confused:I just don't understand why someone has not created an IRS-friendly mileage logging application yet. And the potential for using GPS to enhance the capabilities seems obvious to me.

The details of the features I'd like to see can be found in my comment about the excellent post by Mike Elgan on the untapped potential of GPS on the iPhone:

Hey developers, get cracking! You're free to use my ideas as long as you give me a break on price.:D I'd be happy to beta test for you when I get my 3G in July.

Landscape Typing in Texting and mail?

Is it just me or would landscape typing in both sms and mail make this phone all the better. I've gotten used to the vertical typing but horizontal typing would make it much easier

Simple stuff but I think essential!

1. Forward of SMS messages
2. Copy/Paste
3. Save of pictures (on 2.0)
4. Video recorder (apps available)
5. Powerpoint Viewer (on 2.0)
6. longer vibrate on SMS/Emails (I miss sms/emails for ages)
7. Louder ring!!

I hope these have all been addressed and will be available soon.

Honestly, my biggest gripe is that I'll get an email notification, but then when I click on the message it takes AGES for it to download so that I can read it, and half the time says "This message has not been downloaded from the server". I end up using my blackberry for email because when I get a message on it, it automatically downloads the message. 70% of the time I find the iPhone's email client simply unuseable...and I have full reception

is it just me, or is voice dialing still missing from the new iphone? or is this an app that someone is working on?

This is a great thread - hope someone at Apple is watching.

- Ability to lock individual apps. All of my other phones (at least the Motorola ones) had the ability to lock certain apps like photos, messaging etc. on an individual basis as the user saw fit As I see it now, even if I have a passcode for the general "unlock", once I unlock the phone - say, to let a friend make a call - they now have the ability to see my mail, my photos, my texts, etc.

M

Maybe you can do this with the parental controls. Steve said that you could have "no youtube this month" so you could probably password protect it and you can do this with all other programs (i.e. text, and mail)

I don't have an iPhone but...

Copy and paste (need it be said again?)
Bluetooth that actually does something! (share photos/audio)
Remaining letters left for 1 SMS limit
Record video

Alarm that goes off when when the phone is off!!! Why oh why does the phone need to be on? Every phone I have owned over the last ten years would let the alarm go off when the phone is off. I only need it if I am staying away from home and don't have a charger so I switch it off to save juice. Then the alarm doesn't work! Is this down to the way the OS works?

Forward of SMS would also be bloody handy! I Don't see the problem with this as you can do it with emails.

Searched high and low

I think I'll pass on the iPhone v2. I have v1, but its really getting ridiculous that we still can't have these abilities on this device. It's a huge joke to iPhone users with the competition and a true omission of something we really need to have since day one. I'm not asking for fancy video recording, voice commands or flux capacitor functions. Just your basic, everyday useful things. Yet it won't be on iPhone 2.0. Thats just mind-boggling.

1. Sync To Do's
2. Global Search
3. Copy & Paste
4. Sync Notes

Turn on Airplane mode, then set alarm. No calls, but the alarm still works.

iPhone 2 still missing basics

I agree completely. Not having To Do's and Sync Notes in v 2.0 is just so disappointing. Why are these things missing? And no cut and paste. Again why? These are hardly things the SDK crowd will bother with; they are BASIC SMARTPHONE FUNCTIONS. Unless the G3 has demonstrably better phone reception I'll be riding out my 18 month contract and dumping my first generation iPhone at the end of it. Not happy at all.
