List

1. Notes Syncing
2. ORDERING OF WI-FI NETWORKS, like in Mac OS X.
3. Some sort of fix for the "corrupt app" crash that makes the device hang on the Apple Logo
4. Faster downloading apps (it takes two seconds on my Mac!)

Flash!!!!

I wish they could adapt flash to run on the iPhone. I know that has been said in here many, many times. I just wanted to throw my two cents in. Also, if they could figure out why the phone is sluggish in response since upgrading to 2.0, that would be great!

I hope that the update will lock apps in place so when you update they don't get moved to the back page and mess up ones organization of the SpringBoard.

Name display, SMS enhancements, Call Duration, Copy and Paste, etc

1. Name display.

No, I am not referring to displaying the names of callers in your contact list but true caller ID with name display. Some carriers offer it on their phones. For example, my 3+ year old Motorola 551 displays the name of the company or person calling even though they're not in my contact list.

2. Copy and paste with all APPs loaded in the phone, or at least with SMS, Safari, Notes, Contact list, Google Maps.

3. SMS character count

4. SMS forwarding

5. Call duration counter

6. Icon that shows if your iPhone is call forwarded or not

7. Improved battery life

8. Voice dialing

not sure if someone has mentioned before, but security lock for certain apps like "photos, sms etc" to keep nosy people out!! Kinda bugs me that anyone can pretty much check it out.....what do you guys/gals think??:)

-search option in gmail mail through the iphone mail app.

-option to delete songs from the iphone

-fix for any lag in keyboard, apps, etc..

-easy contact export and import. non of that itunes syncing crap.

A NEW Needed FEATURE

Ok, So like many of you I'm sure.... I have too many applications for my iPhone to manage.

Sometimes organizing my layout can be a huge pain!

I think a small section should be available in iTunes after you plug your phone in that would allow you to update, move around and basically organize your applications on the screen. This would be great because after updating, you could have your alignment exactly how you want it.

Another reason this would be a great addition....
I've noticed I have not achieved what I feel is my favorite layout for my applications, simply because I cannot see all of them at once. I think this minor update would be a great addition to an already great piece of software and equipment.

What does everyone else think??

- Ability to save files into folders. Ability to "attach" files to email and when posting on a forum.

- Ability to read and "basic editing" of MS Word files.

- Built-in digital voice recorder.

- "Find" function in Safari, so that we can search for keywords on a webpage.

- Add a Dictionary.com App, and a Wikipedia App, so that we can bypass Safari and have Apps devoted to these purposes, just as quickly as when we get weather updates and stock quotes.

- If we have already downloaded a webpage to view in Safari and we close Safari, please do NOT reload the page when we reopen Safari unless we manually touch "refresh."

YESSS!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN HOPING FOR THIS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY SOMEONE WANTS IT TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. A time stamp for EVERY single SMS sent and received. It is so random now.

2. Ability to delete music on the fly like with video.

3. Please please please...an OFF switch for the auto accelerometer. Annoying as hell when listening to music.

It doesn't necessarily matter what a few like me or you want, if we're in the minority, it's not going to happen.

Considering the article the other day in the NY Post, the spotlight from Apple has been moved AWAY from the iPhone and onto iPods. I hope this doesn't mean that the iPhone is a collosial failure in Apple's view, much like HD was when we compare it to Blue Ray.

In fact, the more I read and discover what features the iPhone lacks compared to a basic cellphone, I have no idea why Apple rushed to introduce the iPhone with a LOT of basic features missing....sure, it may be easier to swallow if this was the 1st Gen iPhone (MAYBE) but it's the 2nd Generation and that's beginning to really concern me, especially since the "office cooler" talk today surrounded on how the iPhone is really for Apple enthusiasts and those who buy only trendy things, not practical items. They use it for a few months and disgard it. Accordingly, some people presume iPhone owners can afford to take a hit and buy something else if the iPhone doesn't do well.

Any way...sorry for the little rant.

my wishlist

Probably a repeat of what others have said, but this is my wishlist

1) Copy Paste between apps, at least between notes, safari, mail and sms

2) FTFB - Fix the f***ing bluetooth, i want to be able to pair with another phone and send pics or contacts, wich brings me on to

3) The ability to send a contact via bluetooth, email or text (SMS)

How about keeping the contact search bar docked on either the top or the bottom of the contacts screen.

A box that we can check on the calculator to lock it in scientific mode or basic mode
so that regardless of orientation, it stays in that mode!
(it would be kind of nice sometimes to have that on Safari also)

Since the 2.1 Update UK users have been able to add the 12H clock!

This however is the kind of errors which occur in the Mail App:

An option to disable the bloody spellchecker would be welcome.

For the millions of us who communicate in two or more languages on a daily basis, it's a pain in the ass to constantly have to stop the spellchecker from destroying your text with its inane suggestions in the wrong language.

What else, um... I'd like to be able to arrange the app icons to a grid freely so that I can have empty slots or empty rows if I want.

I'd like to be able to remove the factory apps, or at least hide them. The Stocks app would be the first to go... some of us aren't Bloomberg slaves, we're about as interested in a Stocks app as we would be in a pig vomit radar.

here is my list

honestly, I would have to say that my biggest thing(s) are mms messaging and SMS forwarding. Nice features would be cut/copy/paste and always improved battery life. Since I upgraded to 2.1 I haven't noticed any battery improvments but definetly better keyboarding and 3G signal quality.

improvements

1) the option to keep the radio running from any radio app while returning to home screen, and using email - internet. this might be the app limitation, but unless it was disabled I doubt they would have left out the option

2) Major one probably been mentioned before - Flash and other internet plugins to enable the web to fully function

3) They seem to have improved battery life - a continued increase in this is the most important thing. My battery still doesn't last a fully day.

4) shake to shuffle (probably on next upgrade easy to do with accelerometer)

5) sideways keyboard for all apps

6) ability to customize more, place own images behind icons, change icons- resize icons (I've always thought the wallpaper feature was a waste of time, you hardly ever see it only for a second on start, I'd like to put subtle wallpapers as backgrounds on the main page as you can do when jailbreaking

7) access to itunes store without wifi, 3G could manage the downloads almost runs as fast on wifi for me

8) one touch delete in photo app as mail has

I too have to carry my treo around for files in word, pages, excel, and numbers not to mention power point and key note.

I think this is the primary reason why the iPhone will never be considered a PDA. It seems that only Apple loyalists and those who wish to be trendy [knowingly] buy this iTouch with an added feature, called telephone. :(

Accordingly, I am seriously considering selling my iPhone while I can still get a decent price for it.

Network Specific Settings

Given that the iPhone can "remember" WiFi networks I would like to be able to specify some settings to be automatically applied when I connect to those networks.

In practice this could mean, for example:
- The requirement to type in my 4 digit code is switched 'off' when I'm on the HOME network.
- The default ringtone changes from my normal musical tone to a more professional tone when I'm at my WORK network.

Later on, it might be possible to do other things with this too such as have the phone automatically sync when I get home(requires over-the-air sync) or to have the song/podcast I was listening to on my home stereo automatically transfer to my iPhone - and continue playing - when I leave the house (requires improvements to the Remote app. and AirTunes).

- I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, but surely it isn't too hard for them to implement this kind of functionality because all of the settings and underlying technology are already running on the current model.

Smart Wi-Fi and Calendar Changing

Option for smart Wi-Fi

The iPhone should have an option where the phone automatically checks for an Internet (not network) connection and automatically reverts to EDGE/3G if the Internet is not available (perhaps some kind of ping to Apple as networks are found/connected could test the connection). I find myself constantly having to turn Wi-Fi on and off. I would just leave it off all all the time, but a) I don't get cellular data (or any service at all) in some buildings I go to, and b) When I'm at home I want access to my Wi-Fi network for AirTunes/Remote. It gets ridiculous when I go to McDonald's (why the F isn't McDonald's in Safari's dictionary for spell checking?) or any other place where the Wi-Fi is unsecured at face level---so the phone connects to it--- but actually requires a web login to connect. Even for places where I have permission to connect, I don't like having to open Safari and connect each time--- especially if I am just trying to send an e-mail or watch a YouTube video.

Option to modify calendar type after event creation

For some reason the option to choose which calendar an event is on is not present when an event is edited after it is already on a calendar.
