FDW Message , why is it still not there i mean you can make iphone and cannot put fdw messaging feature ?
this is so basic , a 20$ phone has fwd messaging capability !!

You could probably be waiting in vain as I do not think it will ever happen!

iChat - there are already a few similar applications in the AppStore like palringo, implus (why would Apple want to spend extra to develop yet another similar application) and mobilechat (which Apple could earn for every purchase made on this application).

MP3 Ringtones??? Apple will lose revenue generated from the sales of the iPhone ringtones.

You may also forget File manager like applications because there are already such applications for sales in the AppStore and it would not be fair for developers who currently sell it at a price. Basically, any applications that exist as "To be Paid" will not likely be reproduced by Apple.

I doubt Flash and Java support would appear in the AppStore as they are too powerful to create almost any applications and this bring will back a question: "Who" would vet the applications before releasing it to the AppStore? Unless the support is only at Safari level.

The only possible and logical features I guess would be:
- Backend notification (this is something that only Apple can enable)
- Turn-by-turn GPS (this is something that only Apple can enable)
- Enable Stored-Map type of applications (this is what consumers want and are willing to pay an extra for)
- Copy&Paste (not difficult and time-consuming to implement and it is necessary for a document-editor before releasing for sales in the public)
- Apple Book Store (for e-books - another source of revenue)
 
I want a way to return to the previous app. When I'm in Contacts and Google Maps launches to see where someone lives / works, I want a quick way to return to the Contacts app after I'm done.

Oh, and I also want a way to correct a bad digit entry in Calculator (duh).
 
There is only one major fix I'm desperate for, and it has been mentioned before.

The option to have every SMS time-stamped. Such an easy thing to make, and it is so annoying to have random text messages stamped!
 
Great phone! Here's my wish list:

Undo when typing
Sync hardware that syncs to computer AND recharges when computer is off
Smart Spellchecker that learns or lets you add to dictionary
Email viewer that resizes and wraps text on all emails
Fix for accidentally set Silent Switch - icon on home page?
Better way to create and manage camera roll folders

Requested by others:
Cache recently-visited web pages
Sync Outlook notes and tasks
Cut and paste between apps
Flash viewer and viewers for popular file formats
File manager to add files, attach to emails
Landscape viewing and keyboard for all apps
 
I posted a bunch of other features/upgrades a while back, but here is my new beef with the iPhone software. I posted this in another thread:

I hope that 2.2 includes some kind of management feature for that retarded text reminder thing. Maybe I don't wanna look at my freakin text messages!!!!!!!!!! It's driving me crazy to have the thing buzz or ring 3 times every time I get something and don't look at it right away. WORST FEATURE EVER!!!!!

I think that gets my point across. 🙂
 
Since the upgrade to 2.1 and iTunes 8 (not sure which is the culprit), album art is not being displayed properly. The album art comes up either completely black, or some of some of it is chopped off. This happened with a couple albums that I purchased directly to my iphone. It displays properly after purchase, but after I sync it with iTunes, it does not display properly. This also happened with an album that I just added to my iPhone that was already in my iTunes library. All album art for these albums was obtained directly from iTunes.
 
Other than issues with crashing Safari and the lack of MMS ... UGH

Seriously these are not hard features to add ... WHY they haven't is just beyond me.

The next version of safari on iphone should fix this. but as for MMS???
 
One year into the "Iphone Revolution" and as an Iphone user I have yet to see the anything "revolutionary." Here is the much needed list I've compiled:

The Iphone Needs...

  1. Haptic Feed-Back: I'm sick of the virtual keyboard, there needs to be something that makes me aware when a button has been pushed other than a sound. The Iphone needs Haptic Feed-Back!
  2. Video Recorder: I seriously cannot believe that as a loyal and trusting Iphone customer I get ripped off! I mean a "jail broken" Iphone can record video but mine cannot, this is the fault of Apple only. Iphone needs Video Recording!
  3. Picture Text: Ok, this problem is not entirely Apple's fault, but AT&T come on! Iphone needs Picture Texting!
  4. Push Notification: I'm tired of this "sovereign app" crap! The phone is less of a smart phone without this improvement. I am ready to actually use my IM apps. Iphone needs Push Notifications!
  5. Drawable Characters: The Chinese language pack has this feature why not the English? Almost all of the "smart phones" of the past have had this feature, why not the Iphone? Iphone needs Drawable Characters on the Keyboard!
  6. Copy and Paste: Seriously, I'm sick of not having this function! Maybe if we had the ability to run apps in the background this would not be all that bad but I'm sick of having to write down the text that i need to use. This speaks for itself! Iphone needs Copy and Paste!
  7. Turn-by-Turn GPS: Nice going Apple, now TomTom is going to Android. Seriously if the app is there, and your not doing anything to include this feature then why are the consumers disadvantaged? Iphone needs Turn-by-Turn GPS!
  8. Magnified Fast Forwarding and Rewinding: The screen is soo small and my finger so big that it is impossible to be precise, my suggestion incorporate that nifty magnifying feature into the viewing of movies. Iphone need Magnified Fast Forward and Rewind!
  9. File Sharing Via Itunes: Airshare is a great app but some people don't have WiFi and need to see their documents. Steve, you want more business from businesses but until you include this feature I'm afraid you are just going to have to take a back seat to Android. Iphone needs better File Sharing!
  10. Flash Support: Apple, you advertise the iphone as being the "web in your pocket" but when it comes to like half of the websites out there this feature is missing. WTF! Iphone needs Flash Support!
  11. Print Screen Feature: Easy and Useful! Store a photo of the screen you are currently on. That would make the Iphone a lot better. Iphone could use Print Screen!
  12. App Preview: Android Market place will have it! Songs for Itunes does have it! Developers demand it! Why can't the App Store have it? Iphone needs App Previewing!
  13. Horizontal Key Board: All the text based features, like copy/paste, drawable characters ect would fit on the screen if only you would incorporate this feature into all apps, especially SMS text. Iphone needs Horizontal Keyboards!

haptic feedback: can be taken care of by that vibrate keyboard app in cydia
video recorder: 2 apps available to do this already via cydia
picture text: swirlymms
push notification: obviously coming, but using backgrounder from cydia is nearly the same thing
drawable characters: no idea about this. dont care
copy & paste: jailbroken apps have an app for this that can copy and paste between sms/text/notes/email thus far
turn by turn: i agree i'm waiting impatiently for this
magnified rewind/forward: meh i guess im more precise than you. have no issues with the current implementation
file sharing via itunes: no idea what you're talking about. there must be at least 10+ apps in the official app store that let you do all sorts of file sharing by now.
flash support: no one cares about mobile flash lite

Can i do this stuff with version 2.1 on my iphone? Will apple disown me haha?
 
no more annoying "this accessory was not made for the iphone" messages for accessories that used to work on the old iphone software/ generations
 
Another thing I just thought of was a mail/sms reminder in the status bar.

If you don't know what I mean, I'm thinking of a liitle envelope and bubble with numbers inside so when in other apps eg safari you can see.

If you really don't know, I will post my scribbles tomorrow, I'm on the superPhone at the moment.

Here is a thought on text Cut/Paste, based on how I have my macbook pro's track pad setup. You know how if you hold down your finger on the iPhone it will show a magnifying glass to help in positioning the cursor? Since you are probably already holding the phone in one hand using the other to move the glass, have it detect if your thumb touches the bottom of the screen while you are moving the cursor (since it has multi-touch) and that would cause it to then highlight the letters under the cursor instead of just moving the cursor. Then you let go and the text is highlighted. Next you hold your finger on the highlighted text and it will show a popup that allows you to Copy / Cut / Paste (this part is how the Windows Mobile works).

3. One of the biggest thing for me is having USB support. Most of my apps I bough required wifi connection. Example SplashID needs wifi but my computer at work does not have wifi connection. I use to sync my palm using USB, and now that I have my iphone I can't even sync my SplashID.
 
I suppose my ones would be:

SMS - Timestamp messages
SMS - Forward messages
SMS - Resend message
SMS - Save drafts (reliably!) - so if I am typing something I can go to, say Safari to check something and then go back to my SMS.

Bluetooth - File Transfer
Bluetooth - Stereo Audio

Cut/Copy/Paste

Highlight - might be cool to highlight some text or an image and then have an option to send it as an e-mail or in an SMS or to a note. I know you can save images but would like a bit more flexibility. Similar to the "Services" menu in OS X.

all of the things everyone else wants as well as for the weather and clock icons to update like the calendar icon does
 
When I bought this thing, I thought I was getting more of a mini-mac computer, so I'm SLIGHTLY disappointed, although I still love it.

IT NEEDS:

1. More applications that run in the background... such as aol, yahoo messenger programs, VOIP, etc. It's BS that they stop running when you exit them. (I GUESS THIS MEANS IT NEEEDS A "FINDER" APP...!)

2. FLASH

3. Ability to sync via wifi

4. Support for more movie-audio codecs

5. A visible file system would be nice. (again, finder app)

6. Why does the itunes app on the phone only allow the purchase of music??? I want my itunes radio like I have it on my laptop and what about tv shows and movies?.

7. COPY and PASTE

8. VIDEO RECORDER

9. BETTER ATT PRICE PLANS... those SOB's are gougers.:apple:
 
i think i may have posted this before but dont remember putting a picture up.

mail and sms reminders in the status bar on either side?

i often have my phone on silent with no vibrate, and although you see sms's come through, emails arrive in the background.

i put this together in 2 minutes to give you an idea of what i mean.

this and all the usual - copy/paste, flash etc.

Faster Sync via....

FireWire! I know that Apple is moving away more and more from FireWire and support thereof, but I think it's a step in the wrong direction. I want to be able to plug my iPhone into a fireWire 800 port and sync/restore/etc. it in under five minutes, as opposed to over 15 minutes. USB is just way too slow! I know that FireWire requires it's own controller, and that the controllers take up more space, but I know that Apple can fix that problem! Heck, if anyone can design a super fast, super small FireWire controller, it's them!

Other than that, video, flash, landscape Maps, and Turn-by-Turn GPS Navigation. Ya, I'm a dreamer 🙂
 
Right now, the only way to see the date is to exit Safari (or other application)
and look at the calendar icon. It would be nice if the date was always listed
next to the time. 🙂
