things to fix on the next iPhone software update

Add the ability to delete audio podcasts on the iphone.

iPhone software update wish list

In order to be a more useful phone the iPhone software update should include:

1.) A To Do list and a way to sync it with iCal.
Ridiculous that a company which created both the iPhone and iCal doesn't allow for a way for them to inter-operate. Third party To Do apps don't cut it and I think its silly that a To Do list isn't included

2.) The ability to set alarms for birthdays.
I got my phone to stay on top of things and be more organized. Why can't I set alarms for birthdays so I don't have to miss any? Why do I even have to ask for this functionality?

3.) MMS support.
Why can't this phone send and receive MMS messages apart from emails? Another glaring omission.

4.) Improved audio quality/clarity during voice calls.
I'm shocked at how poor the sound quality is during voice calls. Very low volume even when turned up all the way as well.

5.) Voice dialing.
I loved this feature on my old BlackBerry. It's crucial to be able to dial by voice when using a Bluetooth headset.

There are lots more I can think of, but this is a must-have list.

Profiles

I would like to see an app that was kind of like a user profile button. The app itself would have the ability to create multiple "profiles" and the user could set the preferences they want on and off. For instance:

At home I want 3G turned OFF, GPS turned OFF, and WiFi turned ON. When I'm in the office I want 3G turned OFF, GPS turned OFF and Wi Fi turned OFF. When I'm on the road I want 3G turned ON, GPS turned ON and WiFi turned OFF. Rather than going into settings and having to select these individually, I could go into this "profile" app and click the profile I want. Maybe even allow for different ring tones and volume, etc etc.

Most cell phones/ smartphones like the blackberry have this feature built in.

iphone wishlist

- haptic text response
- A second side button (simlar to volume control) that allows you to skip forward and back without taking iphone/itouch out of your pocket or even having to look at it.
- The ability to click on "sent" sms's to see if they went through, when they were opened etc.
- ability to check character count on SMSs
- Ability to save attachments from email to your home screen for later review.
- all composition forms to include a horizontal keyboard.
- notification alerts on voicemail and sms's. Right now it only rings once.
- and of course flash, but that's a given.

In the all calls window, the following color assignments should be made (even if offered as an option/preference):

Green- Received
Black- Dialed
Red- Missed

1. Voice recognition (got it through app store)
2. MMS texting (a real one)
3. Faster processor
4. Lighter weight
5. Scratch-resistant on the back and on the Iphone logo
6. Removable and replaceable battery
7 Video recording (got cycorder through cydia)
8. Flash compatibility
9. 3.2 or higher megapixel camera
10. Flash and zoom in for camera
11. Larger digital keyboard
12. Higher resolution screen
13. OLED
14. Voice recording
15. Built in IM
16. Cut, copy, and paste
17. Forward texts
18. Making songs the ringtone
19. Editing word and excel files (soon to come from a 3rd party app)
20. You should allow us to shake the Iphone up and down to get to email, shake it left and right to go to internet, etc.

Shake the iphone left or right to go to previous or next songs
21. High quality live TV
22. Ability to turn off auto-correction
23. Make the Iphone learn words like T9 on basic cell phones

A lot of it are just things that normal, basic, even the simplest cell phones today.

What? No petition for copy and paste, flash, video recorder, or GPS turn by turn directions?

There are others doing that feature.I chose to make one only for MMS. Although there has been some weird stuff ATT has been doing to my account here lately (Adding a 200 3G MMS package). So only time will tell

get the simple stuff in there first

apple should be doing all it can to bring features everyone is screaming for.
mms/picture messages
copy/cut/paste
new camera software "anyone who jailbrakes may already know of snapture if not cheak it out it just shows how good the iphone camera can be"
video recorder
bluetooth file transfer
the ability to have a pic behind your app icons
just little things that would make the iphone so much better

Well, if you want a real cell phone then mms is a must then, but all cell phones made within the last 3-5 years have copy and paste.

i would not go as far as to say all phone in the last 3-5 years have copy and paste but i do think apple needs to get to work on the features that should have been there from the start. I'm not hating on the iphone at all i love mine I'm just trying to point out things that would make the iphone much better.

More Control Over Airplane Mode?

I'd love to be able to turn off EDGE, 3G, WiFi, but keep GPS on... but Airplane mode shuts EVERYTHING off. I wish you could have more control over Airplane Mode, or just have another set of preferences. I was hiking in an area with no cell phone reception. I wanted to use the GPS tracker, but since the iPhone was constantly looking for a cellular signal, the battery was draining rather quickly. I tried Airplane Mode but of course that disables GPS as well.

Also, some airlines offer WiFi, but you still can't get cellular service at 35,000 ft, or over water... So it would be great to turn off EDGE and 3G but just use the WiFi.

Actually you can turn on airplane mode and have wifi on. GPS, not that I know of, but wifi, definatly.

I double that! Great idea, dfwmeantime. :apple: has the feature on Macs and they didn't add it to the iPhone, which is a more mobile device than their laptops.

Shake the phone to clear the calculator. Like in Sketches. I have noticed that I have actually shaken the phone to clear it already, only to curse to myself after realizing I simply can't do that.

Yet?
