Yeah- big mistake for Apple to be shilling this event as major news event to the media... and deliver this ****. This will bite Apple in the butt.
Event as a whole- boring non-event.

Really. I thought the touch would be an iphone without phone. This is pretty lame.
OMG this has to be one of the worst events ever and I want my hour back for following this garbage. Can't believe they got rid of the 160GB ipod classic and same old stuff rehashed. Games? I think the Zune has a chance to grow some market share this season. I think other mp3 makers are exhaling and ready to blast past Apple. Oh ya, Phil better give back that extra weight to Steve, he needs it. Steve is very thin.
You are obviously no fan of Pandora Radio.
This will probably be a huge feature. Playlists created automatically using a Pandora style algorithm will make organization much easier.

I believe the return of NBC and the gaming demos/positioning the touch as a gaming device is the big news of this presser. I think this event suffered from fanboy anxiety.

They should be phasing out the Nano as lower end, so make it $99 for 8GB and jump up to $199 for the 8GB touch. Shoulda put touch interface on the Classic design and charged heavy.
They need to get apps sold, as well as video and music. Sloppy marketing this time, sloppy product placement.

Surely you don't want iTunes 8 to come out and the firmware 2.1 to come out and everyone have to wait 10+ hours to re-activate their iPhone again.

But this time it seemed Apple itself was playing the 'raising expectations' game hinting that this wasn't just a run-of-the-mill product refresh.
So what do we get? A run-of-the-mill product refresh.

The media is the one who made it out to be a big event. Apple just sent normal invites. The theme was "Let's Rock". They introduced some spiffy updates, gave us some previews, and then had some music playing. What more can you expect? You guys are overreacting.
They're a publicly held company. Their job is to serve their shareholders. Missing the back-to-school sales == stock price down == Epic FAIL
Considering no 1.8" HDD is available in a 250GB capacity, they would have to use a 2.5" laptop HDD. So yeah, a 250GB iPod the size of a paperback book and about as heavy as a hardback.
Apple would sell em by the billions.
Surprise! No Push Notification!
Is anyone else at all surprised by the iphone update lacking push notifications? I'm not, because everything these days is delayed endlessly. I'm bummed that we were told September for Push Notification and it's still not here. What a surprise though. I knew it!

I'm not really sure what else Apple could do. There is no reason they shouldn't hold keynotes/events for this sort of thing and they can't grade it with a level of excitement before hand.
What a HUGE letdown for iphone users. Seriously, no new features? None at all? No new default apps, no genius built in, no shake-to-shuffle? Have they completely forgotten about the iphone? And we have to wait until friday for this new useless junk (battery savings my ass).
Amazing, simply incredible. I couldn't care less about ipods or earphones. Extremely disappointed.
Isn't that what it is? It's an iPhone without the cellular (which contains the GPS ) chip in it.
