Pictures really don't do it justice. Sitting next to a rMBP and yes the retina display is "better" but the lg is just stunning in its size and presence.

Other interesting feature that was news to me. My rMBP has both dedicated and discrete graphics cards and the discrete is assigned solely to the LG.

Anything you want to see a pic of let me know. I know I scoured the internet looking for anything while I was waiting. :)

Just a small review/your thoughts of the screen its more than enough :)

For what I read, the best connection it will be thunderbolt instead of displayport and then do the trick to use RGB.

Nice monitor you have :)

Got this monitor from B&H Photo for $999 including shipping. Very good picture, more matte like appearance. Much less glossy than the Mac thunderbolt display. I'd say it's a bit more matte than the new iMac but the picture is just as good. It's not as crisp/sharp picture as the retina displays on the laptops but for the price, it's a good monitor. I didn't go with 4K since those monitors are still more expensive and I wasn't sure how small the text would be for just normal viewing (if I was a big video guy I'd have waited for the good 4K monitors to drop in price). If you're use to the viewing on the iMac or thunderbolt display, you won't have any problems with this monitors appearance. I like to view multiple screens, be able to read text, cut and paste between screens. I think for the "normal" person, this is a better monitor. Great for multitasking between open screens. No problems hooking up to my nMP with the included HDMI cable. I use separate Bose speakers for sound output. It's great in that I can have several screens open and viewed simultaneously. It does sit a bit low due to the widescreen aspect. I use a stand from Just Mobile (the Mtable stand) that looks good with the monitor (it is a tad expensive). If only it were a bit curved.....(but then again that's a few years off and more expensive).

and there you have it. Couldn't have said it better myself. I had it on order from B&H and cancelled when I saw it in stock at the LA Fry's. Same price I just had to pay tax.

Only question I have is how to control the sound on my monitor from the macbook keyboard. I have set up a multi output device in Audio Midi and am running the format as 2ch-32bit Float giving me a nice surround sound from the monitor and my rMBP. But, I would love to be able to control the volume for both through the keyboard and at this point I have to go to the source and use the slider.

Apart from that, the monitor is awesome. Great picture, easy setup, and tons and tons of screen real estate

LG is releasing a nMP Monitor soon

Yes full boat haswell

Gotta say that is part of this that is amazing. Seeing just how powerful the new rMBP really is. Editing full 1080p 60fps on the monitor and watching Top Gear in HD on the macbook.

Awesome.

Just want to drop in for an update for anyone on the fence. I just picked up a 34UM95 in a local microcenter.

Originally, my macbook air(late 2013) had bottom flickers problem. It was maxed at 3440x1440 50hz connected through apple thunderbolt cable. I updated my osx from 10.9.2 to 10.9.3 beta and it's running at native 3440x1440 60hz now, absolutely no problem. USB hub works on the display just via thunderbolt.

FYI, I am using Ergotron LX Desk Mount LCD Arm for it, I highly recommend it since the stock stand is kind of a lackbuster.

Good to know. That's the issue I have with my 2013 MacBook Air.....funny, my 2011 MacBook Pro doesn't have the issue

Speakers & Camera

What are you using for speakers and camera with the monitor? I have not read of either being integrated with the 34UM95.

There are speakers on the UM95, it's not the greatest honestly. I prefer my MBA's by far.

I have a pair of monitor speakers connected to the audio port of the monitor for now. Next step is for me to connect my external audio interface

On Amazon Germany there is a new video review.
The guy connected it to a late 2013 rmbp without any issues and full resolution.

Snip

The LG seems to be way less glossy, but not fully matte either.

When he closed the curtains what exactly was he saying?

is there any review mention about the adobeRGB ?
the spec only show there is sRGB and adobeRGB convertion switch on the menu but what is the % of adobeRGB support?

so after several reboots I got soundflower to install. Can now control my volume for the macbook and the monitor off the keys on the rMBP. Sweet. Just took several reboots before the program installed correctly.

Just got it set up in my home office. Pretty stoked it actually fits on my corner desk. I was concerned about it being too big but it does fit. Will need to some rearranging but.....

I saw it at 899, it was probably a price error since it only lasted less than an hour.

Yeah, I'm a little nervous that they are going to back out on that price, they haven't sent me any order confirmation yet...I placed an order when it was at $899. Oh well, I wanted the monitor anyway, just hoping to save $100 if possible.

Are the colors as accurate on this as on a cinema display? So many have received this device but after going through all the threads, i still cant find a clear answer. I hope someone who moved/using a Apple Cinema/Thunderbolt Display can give a clear feedback before i make the leap too!

Based on the specs alone it should have better color accuracy than any of the Apple displays.

with the 10.9.3 beta, is the screen by the OS recognised as computer monitor or still as television?

what difference does that make? I honestly don't know. My computer recognizes it as a TV FWIW on 10.9.2

well, OSX sends the ycbcr color signal to your screen and no RGB apparently...
therefore the colours are not interpreted as they should on the monitor (should be much better...). Personally I did not have this issue yet, so I cannot say if it is as bad as some people describe (or if there is almost no visible difference for some users?)

There is a way to force rgb:
