well, OSX sends the ycbcr color signal to your screen and no RGB apparently...
therefore the colours are not interpreted as they should on the monitor (should be much better...). Personally I did not have this issue yet, so I cannot say if it is as bad as some people describe (or if there is almost no visible difference for some users?)

There is a way to force rgb:

holy cow, not sure if I did all that correctly, but my picture just got amazing. I couldn't get it to work in terminal, but a reboot seems to have forced it. I thought the picture was good before but now it is stunning. Truly incredible.

Now if I could only get rid of some of the distortion in the sound when running sound flower

I am getting more and more curious as the LG will replace my 27" ACD tomorrow, UPS is on its way :)

Mavericks hides all the directory folders (most) so I had to search for the correct one using finder. Once I did that the terminal command worked and a reboot shows me using the new profiles.

I can't find this monitor for sale in the UK, except for some German seller on amazon.co.uk that is having a laugh and wants $1500 for it.

take a look at your system report to see if it is seeing it as a TV still. As mentioned above I was able to get a forced display with RGB override but that is not the default unfortunately. The picture was substantially better with the mod.

I am interested to see what 10.9.3 brings

does that ARGB8888 mean it's using RGB?

no, it is still seeing it as a TV. Therefore the color is changed and downgraded. Look at my profile you will see the TV connection is gone. That is disappointing. Doesn't look like they fixed it.

That sucks. I just applied the override, I'm not sure if there is a definite difference.

Luxembourg.

I received mine today. It is gorgeous. I absolutely love the matte finish as I could not stand the glossy ACD anymore.
My setup is pretty much complete now with a nMP, 6c, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and D700's, a Promise Pegasus2 R4, ADAM Artist 5 Speakers with sub and a Panasonic TV for video monitoring through a Blackmagic MiniMonitor :)
Still waiting for the Ergotron LX Desk mount arm to mount the LG on which should arrive in two days.

USB3 works via the "Thunderbolthub" and a Delock 3m TB cable BTW.
I would have loved to have 2 USB3 ports instead of 1xUSB3 and 2xUSB2.
But that is just a detail.

You're an Audio guy too :) NICE!

for the usb 3.0 ports I've bought a USB 3.0 by Anker with 9 ports.

For HDD's, I've bought a Caldigit T3 and I will buy the OWC Thunderbay IV. I have too a dual dock USB 3.0 for backup.

I don't have Adam but I have a Genelec 8030, the monitor will fit perfectly between this two ;)

I send them an email. To see why the delay on delivering.

Don't get me wrong, but that's nice to ear.

A video guy that likes audio, you are like a "specie" in extinction, I don't know many people like you.

In here almost 90% of the video guys that i know, don't know or don't give a ******* about audio.

:)

Cheers

so one thing I would like to fix and I am not sure if there is a correction for this is the typeface. Maybe I am used to the retina display on my rMBP but the type is a lot more blocky than I like and I would love to have that seamless appearance that my rMBP has.

I know that I have greater pixel density on the laptop but the picture on the LG is tremendous apart from the type. As I type this I feel eye strain as compared to the rMBP.

Is it a setting I can adjust?

Edit: Looks to be a well known issue and an Apple issue not a display issue. As I mentioned, the pictures and video are gorgeous. The fonts are problematic.

This post highlighted and defined my issues.
