@tCHat89
That cable specifically lists the USB-C plug as the input (only).
So it's not 'bidirectional' - which is what you need if your PC only has a DP output port.

If your computer's USB-C port also carries video, it should be marked, but a desktop PC most likely doesn't have correct markings?:

Model numbers:
Original, 2016-2019: 27MD5KA, 27MD5KB, only TB3 5K.
Revised in 2019: 27MD5KL, TB3 5K, USB-C 4K.
Later variations: 27MDKLB and 27MDKLP-B, TB3 5K, USB-C 4K.

So any model with L in the model number will support 4K.

Many Thanks for your answers.
I am not sure how I can tell it is an old or a newer model (bought it second hand).
I am using a desktop computer not a laptop which has a dedicated graphics card (no additional GPU). I am happy if you think I did not damage anything.

And … was using this cable https://choetech.com/products/usb-c-to-displayport-cable-4k-60hz-thunderbolt-3-compatible-xcp-0012
get this one:

^ This. It's not even the "USB features" — a lot of people think "oh I don't need fancy tools or whatever" — the Studio Display is literally glitchy and a pain in the ass without it.

Get the cable I linked above. It works perfectly. Your problems will go away, I guarantee it.

There's a newer version that supports 8k, btw. The one I linked does 5k @ 60hz, but as an old gf used to say, "more is more"
