Likelihood we will get to pre-order the WHITE iPhone 4 TOMORROW?

Well sure it is. We aren't going to have them by the 30th in our hands... they are just going to ship by the 30th.

My guess, as I've stated in my other threads, is the 27th... makes logical sense.

We shall see though.

Unless it goes on sale Tuesday morning with a 3 days shipping, we won't have it by the end of July unless it is released the 30th or 31st at the Apple Store.

Does he actually say you'll have it "in-hand" by the 30th though? I don't think he does.

I think he uses "ships" or "available"... which could just mean that it's "available" for pre-order on the 30th, then it'll ship like the 2nd or 3rd.... nobody knows.

I never recall him saying, "You will be able to actually be using the phone by the end of July." Job's is sneaky with his wordage... he has left this one open.

Only brick and mortar releases:

1. arrives at store by the 30-31st for us to purchase
2. ships to stores on 30-31st for us to purchase at a later date.

Only online release:
1. ships early for us to have on 30-31st
2. ships ON 30-31st for us to have at a later date

Simultaneous release:
1. available to order early, for us to have on 30-31st
2. available for us to buy on 30-31st and hold in our hand at a later date.

I mean any of these is plausible.... we have no ideas at all.
 
I guess he said ships end july right? The delivery date doesn't concern me, its when will it be available to order in July.
 
i think what ppl are mostly worried about is that there wont be pre orders, i hope they will though, im betting on next thursday for pre-orders, hopefully we'll get a heads up about it maybe monday or tuesday.

It's really hard to be patient, but I understand how hard it is to catch flying unicorns. You would think there was another way to get the perfect "Apple White" color.
 
I think it's the fact that people have been patient for so long or some of us our suffering with the 3G and 2G. Limited quantity just means another 3-4 week wait for missing out and that will suck.

this^. the people waiting for the white iphone (not the ones that got the black one and are returning, i still think u guys are *******s) have had to be patient for a long time, now steve said the magical words "limited quantities" which means if we miss out on the first batch we're pretty much screwed for a few more weeks.

+1. agreed 100%. to prolong the wait even more is just intolerable.

I budget mine so well that I can actually buy a phone without having to sell the other one beforehand. Hm... there's a concept for you.

Why do you feel so entitled that you think that people actually have to run their buying habits around what YOU want, and why do you think that people have to be GRACIOUS to you?? What puts you up on your damn pedistal.. As long as I am within my right to return something, I am not breaking the law OR a contract in any way.. then you are literally DEMANDING that the world do you a favor by refraining from purchasing an iphone 4 because you want yours when you want it.. So how does that make you different ??

As I said before, I'm actually not caring much what you do (on a personal level)... karma's a b*tch anyway. I didn't demand anything... I believe I said it'd be the gracious thing to do... big difference between demanding and suggesting.

Clearly you have never worked retail before because people use stuff ALL THE TIME for 30 days and if they return it in normal, functional, unharmed condition (for any reason) they are allowed their money back. If they return it with wear, they either pay a restocking fee or don't get their money back> There is NOTHING wrong with that what so ever. LIke i said, people purchase things all the time and return them because something better came out while they were within their 30 day grace period.

Do me a favor, next time you are at wal mart or best buy, go to the line and ask some people why they are returning something.. Chances are a good majority of them said something better came along and they don't need it..

Oh! But I have worked retail. People try to return used underwear. WalMart, Target, and the like used to take back ANYTHING... now, they don't. Wonder why? Oh.. abuse of the system. And that has a familiar ring to it in this instance.

Clearly you are not willing to live and let live because you have an opinion on it that you feel the need to vocalize on a public forum.. if you truly didn't care, it wouldn't have crossed your mind.. and if you did care but not much, it would have crossed your mind but you wouldn't have mentioned anything..

No. I am. But this is a public forum, so I can state my opinion. Do I actually care? Am I going to paint up some signs and camp out at one of my local stores? Uh.. no. I have better things to do with my time. It crosses my mind now and then when I happen across one of these threads because I have a good deal of empathy. If, for example, the white iphone had some sort of quality that made it better (better reception, etc), then I'd be inclined to agree with this rash of people returing black for white... it would, in essense, BE a better product. But, as it is, this is a fashion statement, not a product upgrade.

You people are freaking nuts around here.. Typically I am against the people who seriously take advantage of apple's swap policy by claiming every damn thing is cause for a new phone and lying saying they are having one issue because they scratched their phone and want a new one.. But to be annoyed at someone who buys a product and LEGALLY returns it because something better came along while they were within their policy to return for the sole reason that "doing that makes it so us truly patient people can actually get our phones that we waited so patiently for" is just stupid.. and childish.. might i add

No... it is "nuts" as you put it, to expect that you could wander onto a forum, tell a bunch of people who are adult enough to delay their gratification at the purchase of a new phone by a month or so in order to get the color choice they preferred that they are "stupid" and "childish" for thinking that other adults (I presume you are an adult, but I cannot confirm this, of course) would be so self-centered as to hurry and trade in a phone solely due to its color when they're aware that many people have waited patiently to buy a white phone.

And some of them sold their old iphones too, you know.

But, hey... as long as you get what you want...

And that, folks, IS childish.

Since the white iPhone will be shipping in "limited quantities" I wonder if purchasing 2 and selling one on ebay would be a good idea. Not all of us can stay up till 3am every night.

Maybe theyll have the one per customer rule
 
I hope it is not one per customer. My wife wants one too and I would hate to have to use mine in front of her for a few weeks ;)


Maybe it will just be one per line.
 
any possibility Apple will make an announcement today (1PM ET/10 ET) that the free cases are available to be ordered and white iPhone 4 ordering? Apple sometime does close the store during the day to update it, like they did with the new iMac.
 
I was just gonna say....this is like when 7-11 puts a sign out front that says "Free Coffee Tomorrow"......

wonder if the day will ever come. All i know is im leaving for vacation Sunday August 15th. If i dont have the phone by then im moving on, ill order a 32GB Black and sell it on ebay.

i like the way you think;)...oh why, oh why do these little gadgets have such an effect on our lives? who knows....maybe apple is filling their products with inhalants that are addicting our minds! booo ha ha ha :)
 
dang, i was halfway thinking it actually was gonna pop up in the store today. Oh well, should have stuck with my original prediction of the very end of the month :p.
 
Since soooo many people already have the black ip4 I don't think the lines will be as bad for you guys.

When I preordered my black one I didn't get to the AT&T store till 11am and there was only one person in line in front of me. Took an hour to order cuz the computer kept crashing, but other than that it was no biggie.

Hopefully it'll be the same for y'all. :)
