Time for his disability to be cut off... Taxpayers dollars are really working hard to help this disabled individual...

actually it wouldn't be so hard to forward this thread and claim that his website is generating taxable revenue that should relieve the government of its mandated responsibility.

I don't understand all the hate for this guy. He is doing something he enjoys, that makes him happy, and it is not harming anyone. It's not something I would do but if he enjoys it more power to him.

I don't think anyone HATES the guy (though I could be wrong). I think most people are puzzled as to why anyone would give this guy free publicity over and over again for doing nothing constructive or meaningful. Camping out for a week to fork over money for a gadget just doesn't seem worthy of the attention. But I guess in today's Jersey Shore/Real Housewives world where you can become a celebrity for just being a fool, this shouldn't be too surprising.

Due the the larger publicity I get, I can not name who or what I do for a living, but I will say my experience is in non-profit organizations.

It sounds like you're a non-profit individual -- didn't know that qualified as an "organization." At least, I know I'd be non-profit if I took a full week away from my job to wait in line outside an Apple Store.

Dude, if it's your spring break, you could go do odd jobs for the next three days, get in line at midnight on Friday, still get an iPad 2, and use the money you made to buy apps or take a girl out on a date or something.

If he is such an apple fanatic and wants to do something truly cool, why not spend 5 days learning how to write an iPad app in Objective-C and XCoce. Oh wait, that would require effort.

What a sad commentary on life in this country when simply buying something can be idnetified as a noteworthy achivment.

Exactly. He could spend those 5 days + the money he would have spent on the iPad2 to buy Adobe Photoshop and learn to design GUI elements or something.

Or he could have put the money and time into learning to develop an app, like DannyVegas suggested.

Instead he puts his time and effort into coveting an object which other peoples hard work, time, sweat, and money went into. All the while trying to capitalize on OTHER's work.

I wonder how he rationalizes his existence.

But who cares? It's not like the publicity is taking up extra space and keeping some worthier story from being published.

Why would you camp for 5 days for the iPad 2? It's like the first iPad except with better hardware and more bells and whistles. Are you REALLY that excited for the second iPad? I can see someone camping out for the first iPad, but not the second. That's just ridiculous.

Ya know ...

Do you think the inventors of capitalism ever envisioned this? It's refreshing, and I wish I had the time to execute stunts like this ...

It says in his post he is on spring break, so apparently he's going to school or working in education.

In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, I tend to believe in the status quo, so I'm guessing after the berating he took last year, that he's tried to tweak his story a bit.

Of course he certainly could be on spring break from a shadowy non-profit organization that he is not allowed to name.

Sadly, my job doesn't provide me a spring break so I'm done with lunch and back to work...

Classy Macrumors

Man you guys need to chill out. All these posts just berating this guy, I hope you all feel better about yourself now. Well I guess if your 20 yrs old or younger it's expected, but you grown adults, grow up!

Thinner and lighter. Wow. It's so fat and heavy now!!!
Cameras. AWESOME! I don't video chat - I see people "for real".
Dual core? Yeah, helps me reading books and doing email.
More memory? Cool! Where's my 128 or 256GB version??? Oh, not THAT memory. I see.

My point is, the changes don't warrant calling it 2.0. The iOS 5.0 version with 256Gb of user storage capacity would meet that requirement.

Ummm this is the iOS 5 version. iOS 5 just isn't out yet. And it will be at least 3 years before you see 256GB of storage in an iPad....

He's not doing this because he's an Apple fan.

Ok, I'm sure he's a big fan of Apple products. But no sane person has this much lust for one company's technology products.

So, rather than assume this guy is a lunatic, I suggest a more rational explanation: He's doing this PURELY for the attention.

He probably makes himself look like a total dork for the same reason. No one dresses or does their hair that badly by accident.

that is OD early. i felt like an idiot going after school on friday. but this guy trumps anyone. at least that apple store is outside, my local apple store is in the mall so i guess everyone will be waiting outside for it to open then running up the escalators to see who gets on the line first lol. i hope the lines aren't that bad, i don't plan on waiting in line past 7pm.

he must have no other life than iLife.
edit: no attention to insult i just thought it sounded nice :-/

They reduced the size and significantly upgraded the internals. What else do you expect them to change on a freaking flat slate of a computer? Add racing stripes?

I think I mentioned what I wanted them to change. IT'S NOT WORTH CALLING 2.0. It SURE AS HELL is not worth camping out a store for 5 DAYS to get one.
