It's 04:15 am here now, heading to the hotel.. O I was waiting for lion so bad..
You're only 3 hours ahead of me... I'd imagine you'll know a lot better by dinner time tomorrow bud. I'm guessing it's gonna drop at midnight in a US time zone. Whether that's western or eastern, or in the North Carolina data centre zone is anyones guess.

Hold tight and fingers crossed you nail it tomorrow :)

I guess, I'm tired too, I'll probably gonna sleep, and once I'm up yayyyy.. I hope.

See you guys, and enjoy OS X LION.

Considering that it will be the 21st in Australia in 12 hours, don't you think it would have to be released before then?

I just tried redeeming my Apple Gift Card, to apply towards Lion tomorrow, and it won't let me use it. So I can only use gift cards in their retail stores, but they're only releasing Lion through the App Store?

try again, i just did mine and it worked

Re: iWork

To the people expecting iWork tomorrow, I seriously doubt it.

With iOS5 and iCloud due in the Fall, I personally think that iWork 11 (or whatever Apple calls it) will be announced alongside iCloud, instead of Lion. As iCloud already has the 'Documents' feature, I'm sure you'll the the current iWork.com Beta moved to iCloud. I'd almost bet that Apple updates the iWork.com features to match with what Google Docs offer.

Can't wait for Lion tomorrow, everything is backed up and ready!

THAT SUCKS! lol i get 60 gigs but its pretty ****in expensive here in Canada =/

A little heads up, I have a 60 gb bandwidth limit as well. But I usually go up to about 100+ a month. I've received an email or two saying I'm passing my limit and that they are going to charge me more.

I call them and say if they wanna play like that I'll switch to another Internet. All of a sudden, it's oh we are sorry to hear that ect ect. And they smarten up fast, I haven't received an email or phone call in a long time and there have been month where I'm at like 200gb. I'm in Canada too.

Boy, do I miss the day when major OS releases were a big deal.

Those were the good days, but time moves on and we have new things to look forward to but I'm still quite excited to see how the public responds to Lion, personally I love it!

Fair enough, but I think while your analogy matches the scope, it is dwarfed by scale. Lion is a mojor commercial release, and I don't think that this sort of update on this level of scale is something to scoff at.

Actually it probably is fair in scope, there are a *lot* of debian servers around, but not in centralization. The bandwidth issues are mitigated by a lot of mirrors and admins with lots of servers maintaining their own mirror so they only have to hit the main ones once (and so they can customize updates), while the Apple updates will be mostly consumer and hit centralized servers harder.

That said, I bet MS gets a helluva lot more traffic on update days than Apple will for Lion, the expertise to deal with that kind of load and scale is out there in plenty already :).

All in all though I was only being pedantic before, what Apple's done here, as they're wont to do, is *streamline* the process for general consumers, should be interesting to see how that goes!

Good point, but why haven't Apple updated iWork like they did with iLife or am I missing something?

you really think it is "free" lol

i shouldnt be laughing, we have a president that does not understand economics either

Free as in we do not have to pay per treatment. Yes we still pay for it through taxes but I believe this is a better system as there are no extremely expensive charges when we need healthcare. We have already paid in advance so we don't have to worry about any costs.

And we are getting extremely off topic here.

Clean install of Lion

For those of you who plan to do a clean install of Lion: It is correct that you can burn a DVD from the downloaded image of Lion and boot from the DVD. But the installer will not let you install Lion on an empty, reformatted HD. If you try the installer will give the message that it can't find Snow Leopard.
So the only way to do a clean install is to first install Snow Leopard and then install Lion.
