It was a total guess on my part. What nobody has confirmed is if you can go from a dev GM release to the public release.

I figured that, but does the GM identify itself as the GM (and not the public release) in About This Mac? I have no idea as I've never seen/used the dev releases.

Truth! But the whole App Store distribution should make the international rollout quicker, eh?

The rollout will be based on US time where Apple is located as a corporation. It has to start sometime and since Apple is distributing it, it will be based on the home location.

i will wait until 10.7.2

i had a problem with snow leopard and FAT32 file system it took few dot revisions to fix it.

so i am going to wait before upgrading my iMac.

Just hope my planned LION download tomorrow goes without a glitch.

there may not be that many guys/girls buying for $29... who knows

the rebate for up-to-date program will not start tomorrow and the plans are sketchy

Good idea. I'm guessing one will need to clone their existing system to the USB drive first. Would be cool if it would detect SL on your internal drive and install onto the external.

How does that ease congestion? Most of us EST will gladly get up at 3 a.m. to download. By 6 am servers will be buried...

I seriously doubt anyone with a conventional job is getting up at 3am to d/l software.
