I've seen Best Buy and other big box stores have the old Mac models at full price for as much as a couple of weeks after a release. They typically don't lower prices on the previous version until the new models are in stock. And even then, the discounts for the older models aren't anything to write home about...

Best Buy has stopped living up to its name years ago.

Also receiving a lot of -1's.

I guess I missed a perfect opportunity to keep my mouth shut

Sorry folks - no offense meant.

The negative points you are receiving is silly. There's nothing wrong with what you posted.

Not for nothing apple, you should at least make the announcement by now; instead you make us wait and wait, we are all going crazy; just give in!! Please!!

Well, in the interests of keeping our rumor obsession in check, I wonder about this:

These Lion promo materials were premature, yes. But do we know how premature? I mean, these little third party shops could have arbitrarily decided to try and build excitement 2 days in advance, or 3, for whatever reason- Apple catches wind of it, *bam* they're removed.

The Apple Conf. Call today and the hopes for launch tomorrow do make the 1-day prematurity plausible, but still, we're hoping it's only 1 day premature..

The store closes at 1800, (it's 1744 now) so I can only assume they don't run overnight changes like Apple stores. This is an official apple distributor though.

So I have read conflicting reports on whether the apple retail stores will get the ultimate configs in stock with the first shipment. Has anyone here ever gotten an "ultimate" config from a store on release day?

If I do have to order online what can I expect the ship time to be for a bto ultimate config on the first day of release?

I don't know who you got those reports from but they are clearly not very knowledgable about Apple retail. They always stock various configs on release day for retail stores. Ultimate is part of that.

In terms of ordering online, it probably won't take any longer than the base model config. The only ones that are difficult is the odd configs, like with the current MBA that would be an 11.6 at 1.4ghz with 4GB. They basically expect most people who buy extra memory to buy the "ultimate" so they prepare more of those configs in advance.

Rite im in a pickle guys

My 4gb RAM has failed on me and only 1gb is working, will be upto 1 week before a new batch ships.
Cant i buy lion when its out tomorrow ( we hope) and burn it to a disk?
if so where would i find the .dmg

Why not just buy Lion when you receive your RAM? It will be right there in the App Store and won't sell out

"Apple was not available for comment at the time of writing."
Seriously? xD Are they ever?
I wonder how that conversation went.
"There are rumors on fanboy sites that Lion is coming out tommorow. Is this true?"
"No comments." :)

in this case "not available for comment" probably meant they didn't even try contacting them. this article is clearly just regurgitation.

Thats not apple like. The more you wait the more you want the product. Until you get fed up of waiting, and than you don't want it. But this is apple, EVERYONE wants their products. :)

Loving the build-up, the hype and the ridiculously annoying use of the word 'Roar'... I can't seem to stay away from these pages for any longer than about 10 minutes at a time since 1st July. Is this normal..?

Anyways, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster on here (Go easy).
Not entirely sure what else to say really other than that the vast majority of people who post here are completely mental. But sure that's what keeps me and others coming back I guess :)
Know-it-alls, hungry trolls and even our very own 'lemming like fan boys' live in relative peace, while giving this place a certain charm in comparison to most other forums I've ever visited.

Keep up the good work crazy people and here's hoping we get a fairly trouble free 10.7 launch whenever it may be! :)
