Has anyone looked at the Macbook Air pics on the banner? It appears that they might be the new version. Look at the screens... they appear (at least to me) to be wider than the keyboard nearest the hinge. This could imply that the screen size has increased on the new laptops.

Looking at Apples website, the pictures of the Air show the current gen screens are the same width as the keyboard.

Looks just like the current 13" Air. Next upgrade will be all internals, methinks. That's nothing to complain about though.

Getting anything for free is always a bonus :) but at the same time it's only £21.99, which in real money terms = a box of beer and a feed. I can handle that I think.

Oh yeah for sure $29 isn't bad at all. But now I can get lion for free and buy a 12 packs and maybe a G or 2 lol with the money I woulda spent on it.

not for nothing apple, you should at least make the announcement by now; instead you make us wait and wait, we are all going crazy; just give in!! Please!!

lmao!!!

So no. Windows 7 is not $29. And even if it were, I wouldn't use it if they paid me $29.

I used Win 7 from the day it was released up until 2ish weeks ago. I can't say anything negative about it. It was a very stable and fast OS. I like SL more than Win 7, but Win 7 was a good OS.

Easy folks.

Take a deep breath.

Yes, it's fun to have a new OS, but we're not curing cancer here.

Enjoy Lion. I'm looking forward to it, too.

But maybe we need to dial down the intensity. I doubt if it will change your lives THAT much.

Don't mean to be a buzz kill - just saying...

Dial down what intensity? All anybody has done was post a few comments, and that doesn't seem very intense at all. This would be a pretty underwhelming reaction to a cure for cancer.

On the few occasions that I've used it I would have to say I agree with you. My faith and trust in windows OS has forever been shaken after the quite shocking (from my experiences) Vista debacle, so I don't know if I'd ever use windows in a proper working environment again. But 7 felt snappy and relatively stable when I have used it on a few occasions. A massive improvement? Not so sure... but definitely better!

I still love SL over w7, but it's made huge leaps, supported 5 major offices all running w7 I am the only one running a mac, w7 has been quite good much better than xp or vista. However the one thing I really wish MS would get working is the app migration tool. When my users get new pc's and having to migrate everything over and all the apps and data it's such a pain in the arse.

I hope apples new servers like it 'rough'... ahem. In all seriousness though the more I think about the launch of 10.7, the more I think that it has gotta be a staggered worldwide launch, in the same sense that apps etc. can appear on one international 'store' before another.

I know they have the new data centre / transformer ready for michael bay action, but surely they can't test the severity of 'worldwide download traffic all at once'? Can they? Has anything of this magnitude ever been done before?

Yeah, Win 7 was better than Vista by far. I found people who didn't know anything about computers always had problems when they were running Win 7. But for me who knew my way around windows pretty well I never once had a problem. Never even crashed on me.

Now I'm in new territory on my mac, so I'm back to being a noob an asking question like how do I install apps. (who woulda though you drag the app into the apps folder). Doing something like that on windows would just move the file lol.

I used it for a few hours and it's definitely an improvement from Vista.

But just like any version of Windows, it's so gaudy it makes me cry crystals of blood.

Must be allergies.

Oh, and for those who are afraid Lion won't be compatible with the stuff you do, here is some info:

I tested tons of pornography on Lion and it all worked fine.

So you can all upgrade with no problems. Your stuff will work.

After reading this comment, I feel so relieved.

Three cheers for someone who understands saving a buck means an extra buck available to spend on something else.

Hmm, if so and if this is showing really the new MBA, then it doesn't have a Thunderbolt port ...

Not only that but take a look at the keyboard and note with great sadness that it is not backlit.

This post is the most devastating thing I've seen in all my years.

No Thunderbolt and no backlit keyboard on the new MBA.

All the rumors were wrong and this is a tragedy of epic proportions.

If it's real & current. I have my doubts. But also we don't have a view of the other side. If the new MBA doesn't have TB then fail of the decade. But I think Apple understands that & also needs TB to take off. It won't if the MBA doesn't have it b/c it tracking to be Apple's best selling computer.
