hell yeah they gave everything that i wanted. multi touch pad larger HD, led back lit, not stupid new keyboard.

i'll be picking one up in the states in a couple of weeks when i go over there

Slight change of plans for me! I'm not ordering till tomorrow and canceling my order I made this morning!

Why, you ask?

Apple Employee Family & Friends Discount.

That's right. I have a friend willing to order me one with their 15% discount. It's gonna save me $300 USD and THAT is worth one day's wait!

However, it'll still be:

15" matte, 2.5GHz, 200GB 7200, 2GB RAM

Final price with discount and tax: $2367.07 USD.

You guys are silly, waiting for upgrades that are a marginal improvement over the current MBP. I remembering reading threads about this back in Nov. '07 when I was contemplating getting my first mac and replacing my busted dell inspiron. And its funny, people keeping waiting and waiting...there's always something new when you wait in the electronics world. They keep speculating that at this event and that event there will be an announcement and there hasn't been one since Nov.

I'm trilled with my MBP and I've enjoyed it for the ~3 months you guys have been waiting ;)

Not to rub it in, but it reaffirms my decision to have purchased this notebook a while ago. A part of me really wanted to see a "new" notebook, but in reality you guys got shafted. No case redesign, no keyboard, same style/size trackpad (except w/ multi-touch), and whatever else there was.

I guess this summer will be the next big update, but for all those that waited...;)

Silly? Certainly not. I've been living with my valiant iBookG4/933 for 4 years or so, and wanted to switch to the mbp line. So ues, i wasn't going t buy "the old one" knwoing i woud make a better deal on the new ones.
The machines are better, and the prices are cheaper here on the french Apple store (2399€ for the old one - 2199 for the new one "Middle model"). So please go on, explain what's silly about this?

You can go ahead and mark me off as ordered :)

15 inch, matte, baseline across the board.

I cant wait to start selling my pc crap to pay this thing off

I bailed...I just bought a 2.2 for $1450. I think there is a good chance it could be new-in-box inventory they are cleaning out, but I guess I'll find out soon enough. Wish everyone well with their new Penryn machines as I'm sure they'll be awesome...I just couldn't resist the price. :)

Just ordered a 15" 2.4 glossy, 200GB 7200rpm to replace my cosmetically faulty MBP 2.2 I got 2 weeks ago! I've got more spec for the money, AND a partial refund due to the extra HD option now being a lot cheaper (£60 rather than £180)!

Would have loved to see a slight redesign, black Air keyboard, and I'm not sure how the smaller trackpad is going to work with multitouch, but we shall soon see!

I'm going to Apple Store!

Thank goodness it's here finally!

MBP base model using my student discount $1799 + tax!:p

Although no LED backlight (can't afford the 17" :() but that's ok. A little disappointed by the lack of graphic card upgrade, no 8800m GTX ? But I can live with it. Will put in a bigger HD later myself (but with have our onsite Apple certified tech sign off on it).

Dude, There is always the next big upgrade around the corner. I'ts the price of technology. I got the upgrades I was looking for and if it is some major re-design I'm sure I'll be pleased I waited for Penryn....unless the next upgrade includes a magic carpet...yeah If I can hop on the new redesign and fly around for real then I'll be pissed.

Yeah, I'd be pretty upset if I could've waited for a flying laptop but otherwise I'm really excited about the one I just bought.

Okay, my first (real) venture into the world of Apple began today with an order placed this afternoon...

MBP 17" hi-res anti-glare, 200GB 7200rpm

I hope I like using Apple computers as much as ya'll seem to.
