Although, there is a thread here which may disagree. I'm still getting the 7200 though

Thanks for the link. Still thinking, but siding with a 300 gig HD. My 1st gen 17" 1Gz alum PB came with a 60 gig HD which I replaced with a 100 gig 5400 rpm HD. Still, I'm constantly off loading on to externals because of the nature of my work (and the very large PSD files).

what are we going to do now? our reason for being here is gone! oh well, now we can wait for delivery.

Add me to the thread "Waiting for new MBP to arrive in mail"

I've got mine ordered. Enterprise discount plus apple care comes in at just over $2000 for the base model.

Now to order 4GB of Ram...

Showing up in the local stores yet?

Just called up the local Apple store (Plasenton in California) and they said "the plan is to get them in tomorrow." and told me to call back tomorrow morning after 11am. I think i'll be in the store by that time tomorrow morning :D

Anyone pick one up from their local store (east coast) yet?

I'm still waiting for the Monteniva my friend. I almost started a new thread but realized there are still close to 70 of us more patient... and more wise... that are holding out through this mildly tempting marginal refresh for the completely redesigned logic board this summer.

In event of a final list;

I bought the middle model!

Will add 4GB 3-rd party ram and when samsung's 500gb disc shows up (sometime in Mars?) I'll throw that one in there to!

Now I'm off waiting for the new Airport Express draft-n! (just saw there was 1-2 weeks shipping here in Sweden, just days ago it was 24hrs, next tuesday?)

Hoooray akadmon our wait is over! We should be communicating via new macs by next Tuesday!

I would stick with 2.5Ghz and get the RAM elsewhere. You can get 4GB for ~$100 from OWC vs. $400 that Apple charges for the upgrade (plus you get to keep the original 2GB)

Ok, ill bump the thread up a bit :)

Im torn in between buying a 17" 1680x1050 or 17" high res and a 15" 2.5ghz model.

I love the bigger screen cause im a multitasker freak. But then again, paying premium for 2" more and high resolutions in such a small screen which are negligable.

Ow well any thoughts!?

speaking from experience,
17" is nice/bigger real estate but seriously lacks portability. it seems much heavier and bulky, though almost same thickness...

if you're gonna get the 17", you might as well get the 24" imac and carry that around w/ a portable battery pack <-- this is a bit of stretch...

anyways... I have opted for a 15" finally!

Test Drive 2 Apple Store

Was leaning towards 15" MBP; 250 GB 5400 RPM 2.5 GHZ , glossy:cool:
BUT NOW .......I need to see in person @ Apple Store:apple:......before I place BTO....
considering 17" MBP; 200 GB 7200 RPM 2.6 GHZ with 1920x1200 High Def LED, glossy:rolleyes:

For others who are sitting pretty at the moment with their MBP and will likely consider Montevina platform, NEHALEM processors, for MACWORLD 2009, 3.1 Ghz, SSD possibilities, High Def Blu-Ray, thoughts of possible OLED upgrades...save your money, we may be into a $4000 MBP and beyond.........by then.;):apple::D
Apple Cinema HD monitors with OLED and Totem Acoutic speakers would be SWEET!!!!

Seattle Tukwilla Store

just got it this evening,
Should I open it... I'm so paranoid to Open the darn thing now...
I don't know what to feel anymore:eek:,,, it's been so Dang long, following this thread made me so (n'kcuf) Paronoid!!!

Should I open it? Someone, please, just open it for me!:D

I am happy to say I am officially finished with thread (and never want to see it again :) )

I have wasted soooooo much time in these forums the past couple of months - need to do some work for a change.

Thanks though everyone for some entertaining posts.

then again the MBA feather weight will likely convince me to pull back to 15"...Such nice choices we are lucky to have........

fyi,
if you're near a FRY'S retail store, buy one and try it out, they have $0 restocking fee... i think you can try 15 days (notebooks) including apple laptops. That's what I did w/ MBA... didn't like it so i returned w/in and paid no re-stocking fee.

if and when you feel good about it then order the BTO.
just a suggestion.

then again, if you don't have a FRY'S retail near, nevermind~
