What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Hurry up so I can buy one.

All I need is a slight processor update and the multi-track touch pad.

I'm going for the base model in preference to the Macbook Air - I need a desktop replacement, not an accessory.

Add me. I'm bordering insanity waiting for this damn MBP update, I'm hoping (praying) we'll see something on Tuesday.

Ok, little update here.... I'm STILL waiting but changed my plans a little bit:

Since my old BenQ S72 laptop went dead a few days ago I'm in desperate need for a new laptop. While I was first planning to buy a used 200-300$ Windows laptop I could've used in the next weeks until the MBP-update, I've now ordered a refurbished black MacBook black which should arrive within the next days.

As I said before: I'm STILL waiting for an MBP update, but with this neat little MacBook I'm in no rush and will maybe even wait for the BIG update (fall 08?). So keep me in that list! ;-)

And me!

I'll order a MBP if they are revised to include Penryn
and preferably (though not essential,) faster RAM.

In light of the MacBook Air, a little slimmer or some
design tweaks would be great!

Well sadly you won't see any faster bus speed memory as its a limitation of the motherboard. When they refresh the hardward in Aug-Nov timeframe you will see faster memory bus speeds. I don't see a complete overhall of the hardware until WWDC at the minimum or MacWorld '09.

i'm getting a 17" MBP... or at least i want to, but like everyone else here i've been hung up waiting for an update since last autumn. it's killing me inside!

Put me up there.

There's no way I'm going for the existing cpu's : battery life will increase substantially with the new cpu's.

1 more hour til the apple company store opens and i go pick up my mbp !!!

anyone know if they sell oem copies of windows xp at frys?

Please add me to the list. Trying to get the last juice out of my Dell Inspiron 8500 which has served me well these many years. But I'm so ready for a Mac :).

Hello guys!

Eveyrthing was going great till i found this forum..

I was buying my MBP like 1 week ago but with these rumours i went nuts trying to wait.

My question is:

Since the MBP are insanely expensive in Europe, i will buy the "worst" MPB, the 15'' 2.2, 2gb DDR2, 120GB.

Since im byuyng the worst, what are the probabilites of me beneficting from the new updates, since the last one was only an "possibility" update, i mean i could only choose, and not basic package?

Do you think that they will rise up the basic or add more update possibilities in the setting up your mac?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat - was going to get one until I saw this forum. It doesn't help that the buyer's guide here at macrumors say "Don't buy - Updates soon."

Anyway, I don't need any real boost in performance. I'll probably just get the 2.2ghz model with a larger hard drive. I'm just hoping that the update will drop the price for this, or give me more for the same price.

Id like a 13" MPB but would settle for a 15" with Penryn, multitouch and magnetic latch.

I would like the air, but it doesnt have firewire.

MacBook Pro purchase

I am buying a 15" MacBook Pro as soon as possible... I am currently waiting on the rumors going around on this site about 'impending updates' to become a reality...

EDIT: Also, this will be my first Mac (assuming iPhone doesn't count...)

i'm getting the next mbp--whether that comes out on the 15th or a month later.

I've waited so long to upgrade out of the fear that I'd buy at the wrong time. In 2003, they debuted the aluminum 15" 3 months after I purchased my maxed-out Ti, so i've been shell-shocked since.

That's exactly what happened to me and while the Ti has been great, the Airport range of a maximum of 6' because of the Titanium case has been a such a problem I might as well not have Airport at all, you can get cables longer than that!

Don't buy now!
Penryn (with better graphic support) is on the market,
NVIDIA 8800m is on the market but Apple seems to have some problems to make the 8800 generation work (you have to wait 3-5 weeks for the first delivery of a Mac Pro with the 8800 card) Maybe a Leopard problem??
Blu-Ray is on the market (but only works fine with 8800m)

As the gap between MB and MBP is getting quite narrow (not for the price), Apple will have to introduce all that new stuff.

Conclusion: as Apple will announce Pro products only if they are ready for delivery, IMO they will present MBP as soon as they have solved their 8800 problem, i.e. in 3-5 weeks.

I'll buy as soon as they come out with a new one. I really really need it (Film student) and it'll be my first Mac! i'm excited

Where did you get the idea that Blu-Ray only works fine with 8800m? It works with the 8400m GT even. Example is Sony Vaio FZ series.

Even if Apple were to somehow fit a cooling solution for the 8800m into the current case, I'm not to sure I would want it... that would be a serious increase in power use by the GPU. Battery life would go down a lot.

I join the line as a newbie

Hell, I'm waiting for that machine for two month now to be my first one.

As money is a key question for me I want to get as much as possible for my hard earned money so that It'll last longer.

So I'm hoping for a quick relief.

15" - PENRYN Base model no further accomodations needed

So put me on that list
