Waitnig for 13 inch MBP with Updates

I am waiting for a 13.5 inch MBP with updates. I am a PC user and want a MAC. If Steve wants PC converts he needs to be conscious of what we get for 3000.00 in a PC. A lot more than what is offered in a MBP and MBA.

i'm a PC user who has been waiting to switch to mac for almost a year now.

planning on getting a MBP to replace my old notebook.

Hopefully apple will update soon, but the one thing i DON'T want to see is the new keyboard that all the other macs have. just doesn't seem natural to me like the current MBP keyboard.

i played with my friends MBP and i love the keyboard. i'll be really down if they change it.

I was waiting on the keynote to get whatever came out. But once I found out about air, it just decieded I'm gonna go with the MBP. I'll be waiting for the new chips though.

Where did you get the idea that Blu-Ray only works fine with 8800m?

On the NVIDIA site! They say that the other ones work but have speed issues when e.g. watching videos. Don't know more

I'd love to buy the most spec'd out MBP available now, but I'm going to keep from blowing my wad until however long Apple wish to keep us in the dark with these impending upgrades. I bought my current PB just a month before they unceremoniously upgraded the whole lot. And it seems like they just want to spring a fast one on me, once more. Well, it isn't going to happen this time around!

Yeah except for that whole watching DVD's/backing up data/burning music CDs/burning DVD's for that movie you made/installing any kind of software ever.

Seriously I mean I know the technology of a CD/DVD aren't exactly the newest thing out there but everyone uses them.

I have been following MR for months now, and have been holding out for the MBP-- probably 17". My son has an MBP 15" and loves it, but was upset when Apple upgraded soon thereafter. I was very disappointed when there was no announcement about an upgraded MBP, like may others. I have 'toyed' with the idea of MBA very briefly, but although it's thin and much lighter than the MBP 15" (which I've also been considering), I definitely want more ports regardless of how 'future oriented' the MBA and wireless features are. And with Photoshop and the other things I use, I'm afraid that I won't have enough memory.

I hope that the newer MBP comes out soon; like so many others, I'm just tired of waiting yet feel the newer model is so close..........I can't bear the thought of buying the current model and just missing the upgrade by 'this much.'

All my DVDs are backed up to rips on my desktop, then stored on external HD. All my music is bought or downloaded digital. I don't make movies and my data is backed up to external HDs.

The only legitimate disc uses I've found are installing software/drivers and burning CDs for the car, and new systems will let you just plug your iPod/mp3 player directly in, leaving software which can be downloaded... I really don't need an optical drive on a laptop (unless it was my sole computer)

I've been waiting for MBP update for months. The screen of my 15" PowerBook is broken (the backlight probably) and I have to use an external display. I can wait a little longer but I really need a laptop, using powerbook completely as a desktop is driving me crazy. I can wait at most for another month by when I have to have a laptop. But the longer I wait, the more pissed I will be if I buy a MBP before any update.
