What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Everyone expected them at Macworld on Jan 15, but it didn't happen. So now everyone is expecting/hoping within the next month. But some are assuming it might be as far away as March. Apple might want January to be the month of MacBook Air, February to be the month of the iPhone SDK, leaving March to announce the MBP. But since we saw the Mac Pro upgraded a week before Macworld in a quiet release, which is kind of not like them, perhaps they will announce the MBP even with these other things going on within the next month or so.

Here's to wishing they will announce it in 30 minutes....

I'll be purchasing one once they add multitouch to it and maybe a speed bump on the processor...I'm shooting for a 15" 2.6 standard with the 250GB HDD to be used for video editing (Avid and FCP)

add me to the waiting list. ill wait till the end of feb for an update (penryn?) and if there is none ill order, but ill be mad if they redesign the whole mbp before may

I'll update the list either tonight or tomorrow guys, I'm up to my eyeballs in a french essay at the moment.
Quick scanning suggests that we're nearing 200 MR members who're waiting.

Add me to this list as well.

I was going to purchase one, but I'm having problems finding the exact used one I want and I figure I might as well wait now. Only waiting for another month though, then I'm leaving the country and must have one.

Im also waiting for a 15" with maxed out ram, but I've been waiting so long I may change my mind and keep torturing my mac mini and ibook unless I really feel it's worth it.

Add me to the list - Willing to wait till October

I want a MBP but I only need one at the start of the next school year so I can live for right now. I would really like a new processor, graphics card, cheaper standard cpu (2.4), HD screen for 15 inch, case redesign without leaving out components such as Superdrive.

I know I am a little optimistic, but I am willing to wait quite a bit longer than the average user on this forum because I want the best for my money.

I totally see where you are coming from....but man, I'm not that hard up for a new comp immediately either so i've been holding out for the next great thing since WWDC '07. There just ALWAYS seems to be something coming down the pipe worth waiting for. Not that the next update necessarily will be major, but it's worth it to me at this point because my current config is alright.

This could be why our economy is in the gutter, Everyone is holding out for a MBP update so they aren't spending any money...*sarcasm obviously*

macbook pro and windows stuff

Hi,
I just ordered a new macbook pro 2.2 GHz. I currently have a pc with XP and I am concerned that when I get the mac I will have difficulty downloading/uploading/transferring the stuff on my pc to the mac. I have the very terrible norton 360 on my pc and I do not want to put it on my mac. Does anybody have any suggestions about how to transfer stuff selectively? Thanks

I'm waiting for a Penryn MBP, though I don't think I will be able to hold out past mid-February. So add me to the list!

I'm hoping it comes out some time later in the year too in a way, because then I can pick up a free iPod in the promotion ;)

Mid February? As in three weeks away? ;) Well good luck, especially with Intel reporting a delay on the chips.

hmm...didn't ask me for any info but here's the content of that article:

Intel denies Penryn delay rumors
Penryn running on time

Intel dowsed speculation Wednesday that new versions of its quad- and dual-core Penryn chips expected in the first quarter are running behind schedule, saying that delivery plans haven't changed.
The company began shipping the first versions of Penryn for servers and high-end desktops in November. New models for laptops and mainstream desktops are anticipated in the first quarter. The products are on track, a spokesman said.

a little long, maybe

Add me to the list, heh.

I'm waiting until the 30th (two Tuesday's past Macworld) for a silent bump. If we don't get a refresh by then I'm going to have to sadly spec out a 17" MBP... sucks, but the resolution on the 15" just doesn't give me enough realestate for the work I do. Was hoping to see a 1680 pixel resolution option for the 15" in the next upgrade... but like many I can't really wait much longer.

..maybe I'll end up falling inlove with the 1920 pixel resolution on the BTO option for the 17"... now that is something we won't see in a 15" MBP for some time.. or am I wrong? Pundits?

:apple:

Couldn't wait. I got a great deal on a new, unopened, non-refurb 15" 2.4 GHz for about $700 less than the 15" 2.2 GHz. If something new does pop up I will most likely Ebay this for the same price I paid since it is well worth it.

You can put me on the list for a MBP 15". I'm waiting for a bump and would love to see a slight redesign.

I had been waiting for a new MBP since summer and planned to buy one in March, but my only working computer, an iBook G4, started to have too many problems. Yesterday it froze and became unusable for a couple hours, so I decided just to buy a refurbished 2.4 Ghz 15.4". I don't think I'm gonna be disappointed. :)

Wow, congrats!!! That's awesome... I wanted the 2.4 but can't justify the cost difference for my uses.. enjoy!

Hey Add me to the list

Hey Add me to the list,
I will buy if they have the touch pad, LED lighting, SSD option and a graphics card update. Quad core would be nice too. This is supposed to be PRO after all.
