List: MR Members Waiting To Buy A New MacBook Pro

What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Ohh the waiting time... :(

In the meantime, i'd like to post my hopes for the "new" MBP:
  • Resolution upgrade on the 15.4" to 1680x1050
  • CPU upgrade to Penryn (+ maybe a slight speedbump)
  • New keyboard, same as MBAs
  • New touchpad, same as MBAs
  • Magnetic closing mechanism like current MBs

Thats what i'd like to see, and i don't see it as completely impossible. No SSD and no GFX upgrades this time. I think thats a long shot atm :(

I was looking at those just the other day. I must say the laptops look quite nice and the price is awesome too. They are also cheap considering Vaio laptops are usually underpowered and overpriced. HOWEVER, two things kill it for me, the crappy video card and the thought that it comes with the world's crappiest OS.

Besides that, it's still a wait until Feb 19... Might as well see what apple has to offer.

Oh, and my experience has taught me to avoid any with the word Vaio on it... Thanks to some idle time spent in the land of the rising sun.

at least they have the decency to let us know that something is officially coming
 
I am also waiting for the new MacBook Pro update, but I don't guarantee I will buy one when it comes out. I am still thinking about a PC, or a MacBook.

I would like to point out that if they don't come out by March 17th, then this will officially be the longest time the Mac professional laptop has ever gone without an update. At least, that is what the Buyer's Guide indicates. That isn't necessarily an indication of when they will come out, unfortunately.

same here dude!Its going to be the first and it should be the best one,just wait and see!
 
Fingerprint Reader

I know this is probably not the slightest amount possible but I would love to see a fingerprint reader on the MBP. I have a HP dv2500t and I dont think I can live without my fingerprint reader. When I am working throughout the day I feel like I enter over 100 passwords a day. (Just a suggestions) :D

Please, you don't really want this. I would sooner they offered the MBP in pink anodised aluminium than this.
 
I was going to buy the current 2.2 mbp 2 days ago..till i heard the rumors :p
I hope they announce it soon. I'm going to US(i live in Turkey) after a week they release it. Plane tickets to USA(800$), 3 days a good hotel ( 300$ ), a little bit shopping ( 300$ ) = 1400$ plus mac book pro (2000$) == 3400$ in total.
Mbp is 3500$ here in Turkey :p I'll save 100$ hehe

me too re first notebook and first mac.

I have to wait till Ive saved up about 5k so I can get all the toys I want.
 
I'm from the Philippines and my friend is going to the US this March. He offered to buy and carry back home a MBP. I'm really excited to get my first Mac.

Would this March be a good time to buy a Macbook Pro?

I would say March would be a perfect time to buy. The mad rush for the new Penryn MBP should be over buy the time you're ready to buy.

I've followed this thread nearly from the beginning with all the ups and downs - speculations and disappointments.

It's clear a revision is coming, the dates are not set yet but I go for an :apple:SuperTuesday

MBP custom order on Apple store of several countries have now an estimated ship of 3-5 business days (USA,...) or 5 business days (Australian, France, Ireland) !

The new MBP is going to come very very soon...
 
The 14th sounds good, but the problem is that I'm going to Germany for 2 weeks on the 16th, and there's no way I'm having it sitting at home unopened for two weeks, so I'll try to order whilst I'm there for a 01/03 delivery.
I'm guessing that since BB will have them in inventory, they'll be shipping soon after the announcement.
