What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

I'm really not that suprised they didn't update the MBP today. They just got the Air on the floor (in stores) on Friday. There was a bunch of displays and other little updates they had to set up in the stores for that "release". If Apple was releasing new MBP for today, they would have all been in that same shipment last week. We would have feard about them being in the stores already. Also, why would they have wanted to take away from the hype for the Air. So, I'm crossing my fingers for next week.

The logic board in my core duo 2.16 macbook pro died last week. (stopped recognizing hard drives intermittently) I'm living off a work macbook right now, but I don't know how long I'm gonna hold out before buying a new one. I have a feeling these updates could take a while. :(

Apple just lost at least£500.

I've ordered a 2.2 Ghz Refurb MBP today. Not prepared to wait any longer or get shafted by outdated AND overpriced products.

I would have bought a high end 15" today, with ( if it was offered ) a high res screen option. Apple, in their infinite wisdom, elect to keep myself and my fellow consumer entirely in the dark so as to rip us off with outdated products. I'm not prepared to swallow that particular pill, so a refurb is all I'm prepared to go for.

Yah thats the sad part about macs they get upgraded like every year right after people buy the old one

I refuse to fall for their tricks, I will hold out and stand strong until it gets updated. Although it is really starting to suck having to wait this long and being teased by product updates every other week.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I think they will have a keynote on the iPhone SDK (which I am surprised they didnt hold the bigger iPhone for). At this conference they will announce new MBPs.

Yah that would make sense but sometimes apple doesen't make sense

I know everyone is sick and tired of predicting release date game but here is another indication that new MBP is likely to be released next week.(Other than the fact that Mac OS X 10.5.2 has not been released yet (which I am sure will incorporate new SSE4 btw and sort of has to be released at the same time as MBP release))

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Dell-039-s-Penryn-Powered-XPS-Notebooks-Due-Within-a-Week-77992.shtml

Although sources are vague at best, according the article Dell is releasing Penryn based XPS next week(Probably just CPU change). If Dell is indeed making a move to Penryn finally this may indicate that Penryn is not short of supply anymore(As they were pretty much last two major companies to not have adopted Penryn yet and seemed to be sensitive to supply problem)

Absolute joke! Apple are loosing their grip! Putting too much time into their iPhone and loosing focus on their professional range!

The iPhone delayed Leopard and now it's delaying the MBP! I'm not sure how much i can take. Sorry to rant, but i'm really ticked off.

No I'm totally with you. Yeah Apple, the iPhone is cool and all but let's try to remember why people like you in the first place.

If there's nothing next Tuesday though, there will be rioting in the streets.

Oh, and you think they're gonna cry about it? If you really wanted to stick it to them, you'd go out and buy a PC laptop.

Sometimes Apple fanatics remind me of battered wives. They oh so hate to get pummeled, yet they keep coming back for more. Sorry, tasteless analogy -- I know, but I think it pretty much sums it all up.

Um, what does one have to do with the other? That's right -- nothing.

I've decided to stop waiting and just carry on with my first gen macbook.
I'll just buy it in the summer or something, I don't care anymore.
Really tired of this "active waiting thing" ^_^

It was fun for a while gals and guys, ladies and gentlemen, see you when the thing is released :p

Over and out :apple:

I'm ok waiting another week or 2. I don't know why i'm getting upset, you guys all sucked me into this mayhem. My Dell is still running fine and though this will be my first Mac......I want it to be fresh out of the Keg :)

It is very entertaining loggin each day to read all your posts.

MBP next week FTW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although the new iMacs have the black and aluminum contrast, the Macbook doesn't, the ipod classics don't, the ipod nanos don't, (The ipod classic and nano have white and color contrast, but that's different) the mac mini doesn't, and the MacPro doesn't! I hope and pray that the MBP doesn't go to a black edged screen like the iMac or I'm going to freak out! :eek:I HATE the look of the new iMacs! They are SO UGLY!
And I do think somewhat of a redesign is enevitable but not a smoother case. I think that's a macbook air thing. If everything about the macbookpro became like the air, no one would buy the air and apple would lose money.
I think the most likely updates to the frame would be the new touchpad, possibly a macbook styled keyboard, and the one I care about most: the macbook's magnetic latch! :D
i wouldn't mind them removing the tacky plastic edging either and making the MBP's edges like the MB's. But I still don't think we'll see a dramatic change to the line, due to the fact that this is a silent update. A new design would be a big deal and I believe will probably come with MWDC or later.

I Like the Black edging better than all white:)

This waiting is really hurting my classwork, that and having to bike to a computer lab to do homework. They really need to release new MBPs so I can get one.

Lawlz after reading some of the threads.

I will be waiting...

but Steve, you better release a new macbook pro this month or your stocks will plummet. :D
