What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Next Tuesday (Feb 12) would make an awesome day for the MBPs to come out. It's Free iHOP Pancake Day, plus the usual new House episodes (which I don't watch, but when I do watch it I think it's pretty cool). I'm definitely betting on Feb 12 for MBPs :apple:

Looking at the Dells, I am probably going to buy the XPS M1330, which is $400 AUD cheaper than the MBP, and its specs are a fair bit better.

Knowing my luck Apple will update this Tuesday, but oh well.

I am confident the new MacBook Pro's will be announced this February :D

in other news: NO MORE HOUSE EPISODES UNTIL THE WRITER'S STRIKE IS GONE!!! @#&%&^%*%!

I am constantly amazed that for such a big company, Apple manages to keep secrets so well. Surely, seeing everyones related by 6 degrees, someone in the company would whisper to a close friend or relative...

I also wonder if Apple is actually 'leaking' these rumours about MBP releases (particularly the more distant ones) to control sales of the current gen?

Specs aren't that much better to have to own Windows. And over here in the states the comparable M1330 is about the same price as the MBP. It does look much better though, and Apple doesn't offer a "Pro" 13" laptop yet.

Same price? Thats awesome. That is another reason I dont want to buy a MBP, $2900 for the base model is ****ing rediculous.

2,899.00 AUD Australia dólares = 2,598.67 US Estados Unidos dólares

In Spain.....

1,999.00 USD Estados Unidos dólares = 1,363.85 EUR Euros
(1 USD = 0.682264 EUR )

But the Real Price on AppleStore....
1,849.00 EUR Euros = 2,709.85 USD Estados Unidos dólares

Something wrong? Steve needs a calculator for correct that prices?

maybe we can start a campaign sending calculators to steve...

seriously though, apple's market share is a lot lower outside of the united states, however they still make good money due to the weak US dollar and their unwillingness to follow currency fluctuations.

If I buy PC hardware, vid cards, ram, hard drives, etc... it is determined by the exchange rate. At one point the dollar really nose-dived and I was able to buy a Q6600 pretty cheap. A week later though, it was more expensive again. Apple avoids all this, and even if the US dollar is looking pretty stable, they won't drop prices.

Nooooo! Was hoping to have House to offset this waiting, but I guess not

I would buy mine in Spain, but they have funky keyboards there and the power adaptor is not the weird British one too.

The Americans have the best power adaptor, with the nice folding plug pins.

Actually they are pretty bad, check out the reviews on them on apple site US section for accessories...quite often they simply melt and cause fire...very unsafe ... and thats one feature I hope they do redesign.

Yea... i see that happening too:

"MBP has been upgraded with the Penryn processor. The US poweradapter has also been revisioned, and now the computer will automaticly call the firedepartment in case of a fire caused by adapter meltdown."

Fantastic!. Can they do that for the UK ones too?

Someone I work with had her UK power adapter go up in flames at the join between the pin plug into the computer and the cable into the pin plug.
Actual flames came out of it.
If she hadn't been using it at the time and had been out of the room it would have been really bad.

My refurb MBP arrived today.

Saved £500.

The next big change from what I now have, will be the Monte platform in the summer - I now have a machine which will do all I want until way beyond then.

*nod* At this late stage in the product cycle, I could never recommend a MBP at the RRP, it'd have to be refurb.

Ehh... that was a joke. I hope they fix the meltdown problem instead ;)

With a Dell you have to use Vista! Remember, Macs aren't only about the hardware (and that is an understatement!). And the update is coming - every site is in agreement on it. Maybe next Tuesday, maybe not, but a new MBP will soon arrive. Enjoy your Dell in good pixel health.

They are the current model, current specs. NIB.

The new processor are Penryns. Like or not, a lot of people, if they are to spend $2K+, want these processors, not last years processor.

Absolutely NOBODY should be telling the rest that they should be buying the last years models instead of waiting a few weeks for the updated MBP.
