macbook air starting a new trend?

Does anyone else worry that they are going to solder the RAM and the HDD to the new MBP in an effort to lock us out of the ability to easily (read affordably) upgrade (Like they did with Air)?

Anyone starting to doubt the rumors of a soon-to-come MBP? I'm thinking about buying the current model soon, but.. Its just my luck if they release it a week after I spend my savings..

you've waited this much....so keep waiting.

I am waiting for a new MBP. I'm excited about the apparent upcoming release, but I may actually wait for Montevina as it seems it will be more of a significant bump compared to today's offering.

I'm glad to see that the majority are keeping their heads and waiting; I'm sure that it'll be worth it.
Here's to hoping for immediate shipping upon announcement, also.
:apple:

I'm starting to think Apple might skip the Penryn update all together and go straight for the Monteniva update/redesign. Anyone know if there is actual proof of Apple actually buying Penryn processors (Kind of how we found out they bought the 15 inch LED's)?

yes, for the Mac Pro. I don't believe anything was formally said that they bought the mobile chips, but it would make sense to buy it all at once.

If they do wait for montevina then how long will it take to get new MBP's?

Well with the release of 10.5.2 (9C31) today that almost certainly rules out a release of the MBP on the 12th. With pressing of the DVDs and shipping the finished units to the stores. We still may have an annoucnment but I don't see a release before the 19th unless they opt to release on a non-tuesday (as they have done before)

Another week of sadness

Because I am such a nice guy, I am going to buy a current model MBP. as soon as I do that they will announce the new one and you all can get it faster!:D

This is where i'm a little torn. I kinda need a new computer but I can totally wait a little while longer if there will be a redesign. I'm just wishing the redesign would be a week or two from now instead of June!

My macbook just sold on eBay for more than I expected. Plus, I have some cash saved up - So whenever uncle steve decides to drop that sweet macbook pro update on us, i'm ready to buy!

Unfortunately, until then i'm stuck on a lame HP :(

oh well at least i have a computer!

I guess one thing thats on my mind is that we're all waiting for this update. If we never would have heard anything about it the current models would be more then sufficient for what we all do. I don't think I am going to wait anymore. If it comes out within the next 2 weeks then I'll take the hit on the 10% restocking fee. If not, I have a marginaly slower model. Oh well.
