What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

My brand new MBP 2.2 is being returned and collected by Apple on Monday, because I'm gambling that the new one will be released in February, hopefully this Tuesday. I REALLY hope it is.

since this laptop is for Uni, my parents decided to go halves.

This was meant as an xmas present:mad:

My dad is frequently now saying "whats going on with your computer mate, im in the dark here"

Me too dad, me too:(

Man, it's beginning to be a real inconvenience not to have my new MBP. I'll have to order on Tuesday whether or not there's an update, even though Penryn's SSE4 would really help when I'm rendering video. Come on Steve, save me countless cumulative hours of waiting for renders! Release the update so I can give you lots of money!

I kind of see what you mean but you could have at least waited until the 12th. I mean come on it would have been like what, a week longer? Plus this rumor citing the 12th. I mean I would have waited if I were you I guess. But everyone has their reasons.

I am waiting as well, but honestly first we were waiting for MWSF, no MBP, Hardmac came up with the 12th, so we see if anything happens tomorrow. Since last week there are rumors about the 29th of February and that event Apple is organizing. But really there is no guarantee that any of these days will bring the updates we are all waiting for.

Get a refurb or or the current model off Ebay. Save yourself the stress, the worry, the uncertainty that Apple try and inflict.

I bought a refurb last week. I've loved it - it's amazing. So what if tomorrow there's a 100mhz speed bump - my machine's £500 cheaper :)

I've been waiting for it since MWSF...
(hope better graphics, but I think that would be impossible)

I've been waiting to upgrade 3 people in my office. Since October I've held out, but my Powerbook is slowly dying...can't...hang....on...any...longer...

I'm getting so bored of waiting. Most of me has given up.

yes indeed - it's gone very quiet here since last weeks excitement. well just think, you got from last Tuesday to this Tuesday, you can get from this Tuesday to next Tuesday. Strange though, it's like last week was THE WEEK, there was so much buzz, this week it just doesn't seem there's as much excitement. Perhaps Apple missed the window.

My G4 is chugging along. I can't run aperture on it, so apple can't sell me that, safari is a total dog, but it's my dog and I'm not, just not, going to buy into something 8 months old when I have a 4 year laptop time horizon.

I'm a little worried that 10.5.2 still hasn't made it out the door, despite the last seed being Thursday, I really don't know if MBP update needs it but ... somehow my brain has decided that it does.

I wait for tomorrow .. but without much hope.

Gosh, I hate this waiting game. Hopefully it won't be too long after this. *crossing finger and hoping for Feb. 12*

So true - there's not really any buzz about the MBP this week. I reckon most potential MBP buyers have given up and bought a Dell deciding that even using Vista can't be as painful as this when-will-it-end wait.

Well, let's hope that most haven't gone to Vista for that reason! To torture one's self over a wait is not worth it!

No, that's by far more painful. I don’t think missing out on an extra ~100 MHz and maybe a new keyboard is more painful than Vista.

Yeah... i doubt they went the Vista route. I think most have grabbed a refurbed MBP SR or just gotten a new one with a dual 2.6GHz chip. I may be heading in that direction myself if one doesn't come by the second week in March or so.

just a question. dont you have to pay a restocking fee?
isnt it like 20%?

Well, if I had just "changed my mind", I would have had to pay a £60 "transportation fee". BUT, my MBP has some minor issues (wonky keys, wonky lid, uneven backlight), so I've just returned it as faulty, nothing to pay.

But I REALLY hope I've made the right decision, and we get a new one in the next 1-2 weeks.

I'm oh so close, slowly reaching for the trigger. It's gonna be a Dell, or...
my brains

So I decided last night I'm going to be selling my current MBP and getting a new one. I really want the new MBP to have an option for a higher resolution 15" display.
