What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Ok folks,
I've been listening to everyone's hopelessness about skipping Penryn and going to Montevina in the summer, but realize, its only been a month since the January rumored dates. We all know Penryn has had problems being launched, and so that would explain the delay. Apple WILL update with Penryn, because they have to keep with everyone else to compete. Also, Montevina won't be announced then ship out the next day on every laptop. So I'm seeing the next MBP update after Penryn being late summer to early fall. Realize its easy, when you check these forums all the time to feel like tons of time has passed and things have become hopeless, but I am sure Apple will make a Penryn update.

Also:
A friend of mine usually knows what he's talking about and he told me they'd probably be out before the end of February. He told me before about the Nano coming out (he called it a new thinner ipod mini, but that's basically what the nano was).

So in summary, don't lose hope folks. Life will go on and remember: when your impatient, time always moves at a crawl. It feels like I've been waiting on these forums forever, but its only been a month.

About the Macbook Air,
It doesn't make sense that it would have any effect on sales for the MBP, because anyone who wants the power of the Pro won't settle for the MBA. The air is for a small market of travelers/businessmen/people always on the go. So even if someone is obsessed with multi-touch :p they aren't going to buy the MBA if what they need is the MBP regardless of how cool the trackpad is!:D

I think its likely to be soon.

Lurking No More

Hello everyone,

Since I check this thread almost daily to read your opinions and expectations, I thought I might just say hello. I'm getting pretty tired of waiting for these 'new' MacBook Pro's, and the worst part is that I'm sure a current model would fit my needs just fine. Heck, a MacBook would probably fit my needs. Oh well, I guess my obsession with the 'latest and greatest' necessitates that I wait for this refresh and become a co-laborer in your present suffering.

Ok folks,
I've been listening to everyone's hopelessness about skipping Penryn and going to Montevina in the summer, but realize, its only been a month since the January rumored dates.

Just to clarify, Penryn is the processor (will replace Merom) and Montevina is the chipset (will replace Santa Rosa).

I really doubt Apple would wait much longer to release the Penryn's as almost all other notebooks are currently shipping with them.

Anyone actually considered the possibility that :apple: are actually having problems fitting the Penryn in to the current platform? If I'm not mistaken the current Santa Rosa platform was actually modified by :apple:. Maybe they are having technical problems and that has caused the delay. It would explain a lot. Like the identifiers appearing a month ago, lack of stocks, growing rumors etc etc

Indeed, not to mention that there was a Page 2 rumor of a March 17th (if I remember correctly?). We are just all making the agony seem longer by not getting on with our day to day lives lol :D

Is it just me, or are the rumors not growing anymore? There was a short burst of MBP rumors, and now tis been quite for a week or so?

lol exactly - Current MBPs are still superior to all windows laptop alternatives (in software if not hardware) I just don't want to pay the apple premium on outdated tech.

My hair (or whats left of it after all the past Tuesdays) definitely needs a haircut, but i'll won't be visiting the barbershop as well in protest...

Don't want to look all to shiitty, so i'll continue to shave...

Love this kind of protesting... Look what you're doing to us Steve!

Yeah, Steve you should definitely see what you're doing to us.

I'll not shave my self either.

Nor wash me...

My university will stink like... I stink...

Finaly, I guess I will still wash me.

There have been several articles stating that Intel had a problem with Penryn, and that the supplies would be short during February.

Aaaaaarrrrrhhhhh!
I've done not shaving...
I've done not washing...
I've done stinking of mac odor...
I'm now on the verge of taking anti-depressant tablets to calm me from MBP disease syndrome...

COM'ON Steve... I'll sue you for the pain you have caused!

sob, sob, sob... help me!:(

There are #2187 posts and only 373 votes...

That's not what I call a prostest.

Oh c'mon guys.. Those who aren't waiting for a Mbp, just vote like if you were. lol :D

Maybe, I mean maybe, Steve just pass by and be impressed by the number of waiters. And decide to make this f***ing update.

I'm just to tired of waiting, seriously... and if the mbp will be as the rumors says (black keyboard, magnetic latch, penryn,...) it better has to be out the 26th.

Or else I'll be "forced" to buy a PC.

BTW, for those who duno, there's an interesting member in Appleinsider (Tailpiper) who claims to know someone at Apple who knows how and when the Mbp will be out.

Check it out: http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?t=84319

That AI thread is interesting, but honestly, it's not like he has any information that someone reading all the blogs doesn't have. In fact, his listing one of the "features" of the laptops as N-wifi makes me think he went one too far... all the current models support N. Then, after no update yesterday, he posted that "they think" it won't be ... yesterday. My bet is it's just someone who has a big list of all the rumors and knows how to write. If the new models show up with a thinner design, or MacBook in aluminum, then I'll admit he had a source.

Yeah, well, you know, we never know who's who. And when the new models show up that will be kinda of late to admit that he had a source...

Whatever will be, the guy really seams to know what he's talking about. Someone in the post just told like "just bu***hit, there will be no Mbp update" and the guy said "prepare to eat your words" and so...

If there's no Mbp the 26th the only thing I'll have to admit is that he played well the (rumor) game.

haha lets start a new thread "Pictures of Men.. and Women, not shaving until new MBP is launched"

No - Montevina is a PLATFORM - Cantiga will be the chipset and Shiloh will be the wireless module.
